Thank you Paulla! I really like your stencil design and I love how the yupo resisted the rust! I think the rune blocks were a perfect design to experiment with the technique!
I don't know if we'll get the rusty papers but I think my Grandson might like the idea of sticks to make a journal. I've got a month with him every day during the week and looking for art projects to make. TFS. Really cool journal. ❤❤❤
I've seen tutorials for rusting that are so complicated. I never thought of using simple steel wool. Your book is gorgeous and your tutorial fantastic. I also love the stencil. Can't wait to try this!! ❤
Wow wow WOW 😮! How awesome is this?! using real rust over stencils like that! Such a clever binding too! I've only used one stick but this is so cool with many! ❤right up my alley I love it!
Your journal is gorgeous! Stunning! Thank you for sharing the rust making process. I've seen it one other time and I just love it! I love the duck cloth with all of the frayed edges, and those sticks as a binding!? Brilliant! I LOVE it!
I find them to be more pliable for use on curved surfaces, sturdy and durable. They clean up easily and I’ve had no breakage issues from smaller design pieces. I use both.
12:31 how do you keep those knots from pulling through without having an expanse of thread going from one hole to another? It seems like if the knot is the only thing holding the signature on, with any use, the holes could loosen and the knots could pull through and pages could fall out.
I did use just the knot to hold the signature in place. My paper is very sturdy as most of it is handmade. You could dab a bit of glitter glue or glue to add additional security or a strip is washi tape.
Oooo wonderful!!! Thanks so much!! Question tho, would watercolour paper work? Or copy paper, or cardstock? Just dont really want to buy more paper if i can help it lol!
Thank U for replying so quickly! I want to use this rusty paper in a painting im in middle of, so I'm sooo glad U got back to me!! I think it's gonna look amazing!!!😂❤❤

Does not have to be rusty to be a stick journal-maybe he should create the cover using leaves on the gel press!!!

It is quite simple!!! Enjoy and create!
I love sticks on covers. I have used some twisted vine wood too.
Twisted Vinewood sounds wonderful, my husband grows grapes…..May have to try some grapevines when we prune! Thanks for watching!

This has all my loves, rust, grungy, textiles & organic elements. 🤩 How do yupo stencils behave different from plastic?
I find them to be more pliable for use on curved surfaces, sturdy and durable. They clean up easily and I’ve had no breakage issues from smaller design pieces. I use both.
What a wonderful rusty journal. The natural elements and fibers add to it beautifully.
Thank you so much! It was a fun project!
I am a new Subbie! Love this!!! TFS❤❤

So nice. Isn't rust great?
We oxidize and we go away.....
I know!! It most certainly is! Steel wool makes it extra easy😉

I think any and all of those would work! I was experimenting so I used less expensive paper!
