Mixed Media design and creation on how to make junk journals. altered books and other mixed media projects from start to finish. Journal page layouts utilizing pockets, tags, tucks, altered clips, eco-dyed paper and more. I also like to make my own supplies like gesso, chalk paint, and mod podge. I'm a metalsmith and fabricate in copper and sterling silver, so expect some fabrication to bleed into spine jewelry creation. I'm also a pretty mean operator of a scroll saw so many of my mixed media projects start from a wood substrate.

Your friend is a lucky girl! What a great string journal, Peg.
@@joycesuppes691 that’s an oldie! I’d forgotten about this one-it was a fun make.
How did I miss this? I dont know, but these book marks are extraordinary! If I had seen the earlier, i'd have made some for presents. They would be easy to mail! TFS. Be well! 🙏🥰
Glad you like them! I can certainly understand how you may have missed-I have been crazy busy with end of year, end of career, holidays, travel and all that jazz! Glad to see the start of the new year and trying to determine what the retired me is going to do😂!
Oh no! I got interrupted when I was watching this video and just today realized I hadn't finished it. Sorry about that. Perfect timing though. I am participating in the Junk Journal January challenge. In a couple of days, the prompt is embossing. One of these fabulous paper clips will be perfect. I made an embossed frame using an embossing folder, but I will want to figure a way to include an embossed paper clip. I am sorry to see you haven't posted for a while. I hope you are all well. I hope you were able to enjoy the holidays and had a very happy New Year. God bless you! 🙏🥰
Thank you! All is well here just a bit overwhelmed with the retirement, holidays and such! Finally got a day in my studio today!! Hope you enjoy that Jan challenge!
Sooo inspiring for me! Thank you, merci from South of France
Glad you enjoyed; thank you!!!
What is an “ APC”?
@@janetsteele7025 ATC is to what I referred -Artist Trading Card. 2 1/2” x 3 1/2”. 😊
so beauty 🤎💜🤎
Thank you!!💕
I was wondering if you sprinkled lavender between the tissue would you be able to smell it later?
Thats a great question and I’m not sure-the lavendar is very aromatic and I was using it in making soap yesterday and the smell stays encased in the soap so Im thinking it might withstand the glue and water-definitely worth a try!
Love the video. Great music selection. Who is that singing?
I wish I could remember-I always save the music I use with all the info on an external hard drive-unfortunately that was damaged and I lost everything! I purchase music to use from epidemic sound.
So great, love to buy some cordage like you wrapped the twigs with, how would i word that in amazon or google to fine some, really love your chaned. Rita
Let me look up that cordage for you. a.co/d/3yoow88
What is the recipe for the alum solution if i want to use that as a mordant?
About 2 tablespoons per gallon of warm water or for fabric use about 15% the weight of your fabric.
Lightly using a heat tool on tape before removing it is helpful.
I will try that next time I do a collage! Thank you!
Botanical gel prints and collage are my favorite. I like that your compositions are not grids. The organic shapes are so much mire interesting. (And challenging!)
Thanks for the feedback, I love the challenge of organic shapes in collage!
What a great collage idea. Would like to try this same effect with some fall leaves that I pressed dried a few months ago.
That would look great! Glad you liked the outcome of mine!
Just found your channel wonderful inspiring work. Thankyou !
Thank you! Hope to keep your interest💕
It's a little difficult to understand your voice, I think you are holding the microphone too close to your mouth that's causing the muffled voice.
thank you for letting me know-I played the video and it sounded good on my end so I’m not sure what is happening in the playback for you. I do have a rather quiet voice so that might be the issue--have you watched any other of my videos? Is the sound ok on others for you?
What is hour favorite glue to use for this? I have a lot of gel prints and just so happens a lot of tubes. I have a spray bottle and my craft iron.. I’m ready. I just want to make sure I have a good glue too Love this tutorial
I am using glitter glue but any glue would work! A hot glue gun is always a good choice, I think!
Lots of texture! This invented word can be hard for people to hear and pronounce. It's pronounced DE - FEM - ER - EM - BER. I thought I heard you say DE-FEM-ER-RE-MA. I don't mean to be pedantic, but I thought by letting you know, you won't record going forward saying it incorrectly. Even Barbara has said it took her some tries before she got it right! Luise is keeping us on our toes! Cheers!
Appreciate the help!😊, I’ll do my best to get it right🤷🏻♀️
Thank you. I was stuck. You inspired me.❤
Thank you that’s nice to hear-hope you had fun making something new!
The embossed paper clips are interesting and pretty. Great for junk journals. Thanks.
They are definitely easy and a great way to quickly add a little something to your journals!
What a wonderful way to use ordinary supplies in a magical way. You always inspire me. Fabulous project.
Thank you Christy! I appreciate you!
The bookmarks are so pretty ❤
Thank you, sometimes you just have to do something without all the layers 😂. These work great for readers that still like the feel of a book in their hand!
Thank you x that looks so much fun x
You’re welcome 😊 it really is a fun project!
I don't have "real" colors but i have a couple variations of white and clear. I may have pink. I haven't looked for a long time. And i think i've used some once in 2 or3 years. I inherited from my daughter-in-law when the downsized into an apartment while building a house. Now, i may just have to get some colors, and maybe some - is it mica powders? !! One question: do you adhere the embellishment such that it is totally above the page when attached or does the paperclip go all the way onto the page? Does that make sense? I made paperclips with the paperclip on a folded piece of paper then put another "top" on the inner paper. They turned out really wonky. I haven't tried them with the paperclip between two pieces and glued in. Just wondering how far they stick up over/outside the page. Live the colors and the shiny finish. I'm a sucker for shiny! ❤❤❤
They stock up over the page! The embossed part on the finished clip is only about 1/2 -1”! The pigment powders are called magicals. I would paint and stamp your water color paper for the “color” and use your clear embossing powder for the shine! These are fun and quick little embellishments to make! I think you will enjoy!
I purchased those magicals too because I saw a TH-camr use them years ago, but once I got them, I never used them. This inspires me to get them out!
That’s exactly why I bought them and, like you, never used them! I’m making an effort to “use what I have”. I’m retiring Jan 3, I need to adapt to a bit more frugality😂!
@ congrats on your retirement! Hope to see more videos from you here😉
Very cool! I love embossing just pointlessly shining things up lol. There’s something magical about it even though i know it’s just melting ground plastic. I believe that the finer ground is for more detailed images and the larger is good for less detailed. Also for anyone who doesn’t have an embossing pad or fluid, you can use anything including water if you’re quick enough. I use vegetable glycerin on an old stamp pad and it works perfectly.
What great tips! Thank you! I like the shine too-embossing powder gives my paper beads that extra bling! I’m pretty happy with these clips-they can be anything from grunge to pastels -it’s all about the color choices!
Thank you so much for mentioning me in your description box.. it truly means a lot. Copper is another love of mine as I am a jeweler also. These are amazing!!! Again thank you for the mention and support.
Absolutely! I am also a jeweler so your work really is very appealing to me! I’m a huge fan of copper and find its expense translates well to mixed media! Sterling Silver-not so much😂!!
@ again much appreciated… yes!!! To copper.. and I agree 100%..I do an art called eleltroforming, which I’m sure you know about. I live in Montana where copper was very rich at one time. I’m inspired by my surrounding and copper keeps that feeling of my hometown in Montana. so i electroform everything!! 😂 again thank you and have a wonderful, creative week and happy our paths have crossed! Newer sub here as well!
So excited to try this, thank you for the inspiration!!
You are welcome!!! I hope you enjoy, it’s a really quick and easy way to get some attractive clips!
Oh, Peg!!! What an amazing and creative journal. I love it. Can't wait to see you fill it in December! TFS. ❤
Thank you, I think 🤔 m going to fill this one and create a 3ring binder for Depherember…..My plan is to complete the prompt prior to seeing what they do then do it again after they post! I think I’ll learn a lot about my style and theirs that way!
@TwoOldCrowsMixedMedia that sounds like a good plan
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you create these amazingly beautiful and wonderful pieces of hidden paper clips. I absolutely love ❤❤❤❤❤ each and every one of them. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! What a nice comment-I appreciate you! You stay safe and well too!
I bet you could make those with Brusho
I think you are right! I don’t own any brush but I think it may be similar!
Wow, are you me or am I you? LOL I have the same items at my house that I have never used plus a bunch of glitter. Thank you, I haven’t watched your video thru yet but I wanted to quickly comment. Back to your video now!!!!❤
Too funny!? I think a lot of us by things for a special project we want to do and then use a little or never get to, or forget what the special project was🤦🏻♀️
@ So true. Happy crafting.
Great idea!
Glad you think so! Hope you give it a try!
Thanks for the inspiration to open up my tube of magicals! These are fantastic paperclips! Hope you have a great week, Peg. x
Thanks Lynne! I had never used them before; pretty cool product!
Fabulous idea! I can't wait to make some!! TFS
Glad you liked them! Great project for when you don’t have a lot of time!
Yes!! That journal is gorgeous!! I might be participating in Dephemerember, too!! I love all the layers and details in here!! That spine is a show stopper!! The corset binding is awesome! This is an amazing journal!!
I am glad you’re going to do Dephemerember too! I’ve never really paid much attention to it as my work schedule would just not allow me too….but now that I am retiring Jan 3-I’m taking the rest of my vacation during the month of December-my replacement is in place and my time has been very free! I’ve been working this weekend on the 12/2 prompt!
Those paperclips are so neat! I do have so many embossing powders that have been sitting in my craft space. I love the different ways you used them. They turned out great against the watercolor paper. That purple with the hints of black look perfect!! tfs
Thank you! Good to hear from you! I, too, have a stash of embossing powders I never use!
Wow!!! This is so fantastic, Peg!! I love, love, love all the layers of colors, stenciling, the stitched pockets, and amazing textures you used on the file folders!! That is an awesome vintage sewing machine! They made stuff last back in the day. It is impressive to see that it still works today! Those scribbles on the covers coordinate perfectly with the theme. I never would have thought to write on tissue with a sharpie and decoupage it onto a surface. That is ingenious!!! The wire framed photos look so awesome!! I love the finished circles at the bottom of the cover. Nice project!! I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Thank you so much-that machine is a work horse for sure-it is soooo heavy, I don’t get it out often. I think in my next reorganization of my shop it will have a permanent table! I’m very happy you like all the little elements of this project! That exam table paper is the best-it really goes transparent when you adhere with glue/water mix!
I’ve never thought to do this. Great way to utilise unused embossing powder.
That’s what I thought too!! They are super easy and look complicated!!
Ooh. These look great. Definitely going to experiment with these. Thanks Peg
Thank you, definitely easy to do with some different results!
Nice video, I use lots of embossing powders especially in my card making, love them.
I had a ton of them but hadn’t used them for awhile. I keep rearranging my studio and uncovering items I forgot I had!
What a wonderful way to use the ton of embossing powders I have stashed in a shoebox....Thank you!!
I’m glad I’ve been able to suggest a use for those powders, I have so many too, it’s great to utilize what we have!
Love these ❤ Just what I needed for my grungy journals. Off to make some right now!
You are going to love making them! So easy and quick with some pretty great results!
Very cool! You have inspired me to get my powders out.
Thank you so much! I’m happy you're inspired! I love using what I have on hand! They can be great for grunge!!!
Utterly unique as always Ms. Peg -- I'm not an art journaler but I'm *always* inspired by what you come up with -- I for sure have embossing powders -- & Magicals -- I've never used and I will try this in a different configuration for the kind of stuff I do -- *thanks* as always for sharing your adventures
Thank you so much! I'm glad I could inspire you to utilize those supplies that you've never used. As I look around my shop - I need to do more of just that :-)
My hat's off to you-bravo!
Thank you!!!!
The helpless is a game changer!
💕
Welcome back!this project is super!
Thank you! I’m glad you like it!
Peg, vey cool journal. I hope that you decide to join Dephemerember!!
Thank you! I’m watching some previous years to understand what it is!
I think it would be great fun to see you do dephemerember in your style!
Thank you, I’m going to give it a try!
Peg, I love your style and a big majority of your videos goes in my saved and watch later file-❤
That makes me very happy!! Thank you!
