Hi there, ok ya got me with this video, lol. I'm now a new subscriber of yours. Awesome tutorial. I have a lot of different vinyl mats with different backgrounds. ie flower's, lace, etc. I normally buy several ft of each. I do cut them up to fit 8x11 1/2 printer paper. Some I will leave longer. I buy them at different indoor discount swampmeets. I will purchase 3 ft or more if I really love the pattern for $3.00. Also, I live in 🔥 Southern Nevada. Where it's extremely hot. I'll coffee and tea dye my papers. I will add the vinyl mats over the papers. Set them outside for 15 minutes, and they are completely dried. They come out beautiful 😍
Sounds lovely. I think I will get better results with the plastic placemats and runners because they are a little heavier. Thank you for watching and subscribing!
It's 92* today. I popping out to dye a few papers at a time and place them in the sun. Sooo cool! I neede some interesting but.neutral papers to collage with my gel printed botanicals.
Great video, love how they turned out!!! 💜💜💜 I have tried different methods, never had much luck with tea, so mostly use coffee, but have a few colors in the Distress sprays, so wanna give this a try. I like to lay them on my wrought iron outdoor furniture, 2 or 3 pieces on top of each other and they pick up the design of the table to different degrees. Same things happen using food coloring or fabric dyes. I'll do a few pages on top of each other and then lay a stencil on top, spray a little additional coffee over the stencil and I get a pretty dark design on the paper from the stencil, again, works with dyes/food coloring mixed with water, oh and Kool-aid works as well. I have aluminum trays with holes, normal people use for the grill 😂🤣😂 so they add polka dots to the paper. I've done the crumpled pages like you, but just lay them in the grass to dry, sometime will open and re-crumple then dip in another color. When they're about dry I open them and hang them on the clothes line, mhm, people driving by the wonder about me, I'm sure, lol. It's all fun and exciting to see what you come up with, I just love dying papers, now I need to start using them, as I've gotten carried away, same with eco dying, but just can't help myself, especially when the weather outside cooperates, I'm in Northwest Indiana. I found the best deals on plastic tablecloth/runners/doilies are at garage/estate sales, resale shops, and occasionally on Facebook Marketplace, but they are far and few between for sure, and yep, both Ebay and Amazon are too pricey for me. I skimmed through the other comments, so hope I didn't do a lot of repeat suggestions, and this is the first video of yours I've come across, so maybe some of these have already been covered, but gonna browse your channel now. Thanks for a fun and informative tutorial, enjoyed it!!💜💜💜

Hi Theresa - I really love your papers and I had to try this process. I recorded a video and it will post tomorrow, Friday at noon. I mentioned you and your channel and posted a link to this video. Just wanted to let you know and thanks so much for sharing your process!
Oh wow these are beautiful. I am definitely going to try these over this weekend for sure. I make so many journals and get through tea and ceffee stained paper like there's no tomorrow!!! I've never ironed the papers, but I'm definitely going to now - what a fantastic result. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Take care, love from Portsmouth, UK xx❤❤❤❤
Get some Dylusions colours too - the Pomegranate is the most gorgeous colour, especially when sprayed with wild honey & abandoned coral or any of the pinks & oranges. Makes the most incredible sunset colours. Also stunning with some of the teals & blues. I have some Kaisercraft mica sprays too & I can’t wait to try them all with my Distress Spray Stains & Oxides on the scrunched technique
Hello!! I think this is the first time I:ve seen a video by you and I really liked it. Uncomplicated process, and you have some great techniques!! I'd NEVER thought of >Crumpling< the paper (no not my precious art supplies!) and the color combinations (cracked pistachio and that rust color- surely that will look terrible- GASP OMG they're gorgeous) What I need is seriously more close ups. At 44:37 and a tiny bit before that, you showed close up and THAT actually showed how gorgeous the papers are. I couldn't see what the stencils did to the printer paper on my phone. I absolutely love this- what I need now is what you have done with these papers! Backgrounds, junk journal, die cuts, cards. ??
@@bethanykolander2498 Thank you for the feedback on the close ups. There are a lot of patterns from the inks on the paper and I hate that it didn't translate on video. The papers also just feel great after ironing. I made them specifically for some 12x12 Christmas fairy journals. I will mostly continue to use them as backgrounds or signatures for journals. I did use some of the paper to back some images for journaling cards. I make cards as well and will probably find a way to incorporate them at some point.
You have a new subscriber. I commented above while I was watching earlier doing laundry. Now I’m peeling potatoes 😂I have not used any inks before. Other than coffe and teas and rust I have tried mashing up some old grapes and boiling them down. Beautiful color. I have some avocados frozen I will try one day but have a whole cart of sprays. Yours came out beautiful and I have never seen anyone crumple up the paper. I press mine between heavy books that I’m already using to press and dry flowers and I do the same with my ecodying. The plastic mats do work good and they are pricey.did. It know they made runners but as I am peeling these potatoes I was thinking that like this sack I have a whole bag of sacks that would probably work great for this. A lot have a little bit of plastic to them but between potatoes and lemons and onions and oranges and avocados and so on they are all different and free and onion skins give amazing color for dying. My produce clerks love when I clean up their onion skins
@@cjsimplyscraps I watch crafty video while peeling potatoes, too! 🤣 I have seen some beautiful dyed papers using onion peels and avocado. I want to try that some day. I just grabbed my sprays because I wanted some greens and browns and my gelli prints weren't doing it for me. I also wanted something pretty quick. I'm so impatient. Thank you so much for watching! 💜
Oh how I love making my papers beautiful with color love love love!!! You did a fantastic job doing yours too!!! I don’t have inks so I use food coloring and acrylic paints to color mine with 😂
I have used similar tea dying process...did it in the winter, put pages on cookie sheets and dried in the oven 200 degrees for 10-20 minutes while I dyed more pages, cooled and ironed. I like the idea that you crush them into a ball. I have stencils of dollies that would work. Did not think of adding those to get patterns. I will also try the spraying process. Thank you for all the inspiration.

Our paper in New Zealand (80 gm copy paper) is too rubbish to get them this wet, they fall to pieces. I sprinkle a few instant coffee crystals on them and spray water on it, or dip the edges in fluid or distress spray the edges, or "spill" some coffee/whatever on the draining tray and quickly touch the paper to it. Saves on drying time too, it you use less water.😊 Thanks for the video, inspiring!!!🥰🥰🥰

Celestial seasonings has the berries inner tees assortment and those make excellent colored papers. Experiment with different things.

I love this. Thank you for showing the method. I have done something similar with just coffee dyeing on my picnic table outside. I didn't use a cover and some of the sheets came out with a wood print. I used stencils and also leaves between pages. I may be looking through my stash for table runners. I'm wondering if regular cotton doilies would work or even cloth or acrylic lace table cloths. I think this is in my future to be trying. Thank you again for sharing.
looks like great fun you could almost use fabric dying techniques like rubber bands around them to get the rings or a pile of pebbles on the top to form rings or pools of colour... try a layer of paperclips instead of stencils makes a great look too.. thanks so much for the inspiration

@@TheresaH.Creates You are welcome!
Hi again - I was just thinking - splashes of gold and/or silver would be lovely wouldn't it. ❤❤❤
Great idea!!
It's 92* today. I popping out to dye a few papers at a time and place them in the sun. Sooo cool! I neede some interesting but.neutral papers to collage with my gel printed botanicals.
I also sprinkled some powdered watercolors onto damp papers
(Brusho, nuance are some brand names)
Ooooh good idea!
@@avanellehansen4525 Great idea! Thanks for reminding me about Brusho. I have to dig mine out.
Great video, love how they turned out!!! 💜💜💜
I have tried different methods, never had much luck with tea, so mostly use coffee, but have a few colors in the Distress sprays, so wanna give this a try.

I go through so much paper for my journals, too. I hope you get some nice results. Thank you for watching!

I'd NEVER thought of >Crumpling< the paper (no not my precious art supplies!) and the color combinations (cracked pistachio and that rust color- surely that will look terrible- GASP OMG they're gorgeous)
What I need is seriously more close ups.
@@bethanykolander2498 I couldn’t see the stencils either

That is disappointing! The paper I am using is 83 gm and I definitely could not go lower without it falling apart. I am glad you have a work around. Thank you so much for watching.

@@caroldickman-ql7fu Yes! I was telling my mother that some of them look like city maps. Pirate maps are cooler though. Thank you for watching!
I also love spilling coffee or tea on the counter, set a few ceramic cups in the spill for a few minutes, then set the wet cups onto paper and leave until dry. Neat coffee/tea rings. Take your used tea bag, soaking the attached string and tag in the tea, then lay it by the coffee mug you intend to make a ring. Send a friend, a note writing time for tea on the tag, to suggest getting together You can take used coffee grinds and sprinkle them all over a pre-wet piece of paper and watch grinds run and add color. I keep pre-cut papers in my kitchen and frequently toss them into something to stain them. I got some of that blue pea tea and love doing that and beat juice. Celestial seasonings has the berries inner tees assortment and those make excellent colored papers. Experiment with different things.
