I worked at a boat dealership and I had sold this guy a boat. The whole time he was buying it, he said a few red flags like "My wife doesn't know I'm doing this", "She is gonna love it", and my personal favorite, "She loves going out on her bosses boat so she is gonna be so excited to see it when I get home." Low and behold he drove out with his new purchase, but first thing the next day, it was out front with the guy, wearing the same clothes as the previous day. I asked whats up and he began to beg to return the boat, and that his wife was going to divorce him if he didn't give it back. I didn't have the heart to fill him in on the fact that the rest of us had already figured out about his wife, her relationship with her boss, regardless of his boat, and the rocky state of his marriage. We ended up taking it back with a restocking fee, and I am sure that saved their marriage, if only for a few more weeks.
My first new car, I drove 4 hours to buy a 2014 Subaru STI with 8 miles on it. Had practically never driven a stick shift before for more than a few minutes. At a dealership surrounded by hills, during rush hour. Drove it down the road half a mile to a Wendy's, sat down with a burger, and thought, "Oh my God what have I done?!" due to the fact I could barely drive it and I had just spent $40,000. Still have it, great car.

I had a sales guy push me HAAARRD to buy a Maserati Granturismo. Nice car. He kept saying, "but its all Ferrari under neath!"... that's not helping your sale buddy.
The worst part was that it was less than a year old with something like 4k miles and it was already half price. I knew going in that the Maserati's have abysmal resale and reliability so getting rid of it would be impossible and also a nightmare to fix every 10 miles... Needless to say, the sales guy and I didn't part in the best of terms especially because I specifically stated I wanted an R8.

I sold motorcycles back in the mid 80s. Oh yeah Monday morning can be entertaining from mothers, girlfriends, wives, etc. Great story. I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!
Funny. I also had a Maserati on consignment. An Italian client of mine came by the shop, saw it, and texted me about it. I immediately responded "NO!", as I didn't want to sell a Maserati to a good friend, and proceeded to tell him all the reasons why he shouldn't buy a Maserati. Apparently that made him want it more and he bought it anyway. His mother also did not like me at first but she has come around.
ive got a friend that has i believe an 07 gransport. i want this car. hes already had to redo the transmission/transaxle? in it. but as of recent times this vehicle is in pristine condition. still makes me hesitant abotu these cars if i do not know their previous history.
Sage Sampson do not buy that car ... it can go 200mph+ is drift ready and has two turbos sticking out the hood its too dangerous.... Me...... hold my soda😂
I wonder how many cars could have been sold and then traded back in to the first guy. It's a shame the manager put the kibosh on Ed's skills or it might still be going on.
Not the same but the same. Worked at Sears in the bedding department. As you remember they had a “comfort guarantee” (at least in Canada) one guest (thank god NOT mine) was on her 47th mattress exchange in just a few months.
*****Ed using the Maggot Vomit Code of Customer Satisfaction***** Biff Spiffington: *FOR THE 5TH A TIME, I WANTA MY MONIESA BACKA, RIGHTA NOWA!!* ED: *Well I'm very sorry, Boof, we can't, cause you didn't say "Purdy Please".*
Thats not OCD, thats an idiot. If you want to inspect the car thats fine, but do it BEFORE you make a deal. You dont get to change your mind after the deal is done
@Wet Mustard That is exactly what he should have done. Again, BEFORE you buy it! This guy is just a jerkoff that will never be happy. Better off to just be rid of those types. The headaches arent worth it
I have a great story like this. When I worked at Jeep, a friend came in to buy a car for his wife on a Saturday. He test drove two back to his wife, a 4 door Wrangler and a Cherokee. His wife felt the Wrangler was too harsh and the Cherokee was too soft. We were closed on Sunday, but he was meandering the lot and saw a white 2 door Wrangler that his wife "loved". I told him to forget it, as it rode worse than the 4 door, but he did not relent. Sold him the car and two days later he traded it back in for a Grand Cherokee. He was not pleased.
The FTC’s "Cooling-Off Rule" does not apply for new car purchases made at permanent dealer locations. However some states do have exceptions to this rule and it is always best to review the law in your local area to see if it would apply - i.e. California's Contract Cancellation Option Agreement is good for two days after purchase, but only on used cars sold for less than $40,000. The State of Georgia has a cooling-off rule ONLY for purchases made offsite from the actual physical dealership location, or for purchases between private parties.
The mechanic I use for stuff I can't do myself is an outstanding dude and his shop is as immaculate as a NASCAR shop. As such, sometimes he gets in some high-end stuff. He had a fairly new Aston in there with the hood up, I looked it over just because I'm a car guy, and I was surprised that the build quality was actually pretty horrible.
Seen this so many times esp. in new car sales. I've had wives , girlfriends, mothers, fathers, lol the whole damn fam. Trying to "crawfish" on a deal. Great Vid as always Ed
I've had one deal unwound for me. The car was fine if it was a warm afternoon (like when I test drove it) but in the am it wouldn't shift gears. Dealer didn't completely believe me as the techs couldn't find anything wrong but I convinced him if we let it sit overnight it would do it in the morning. The next morning I stopped in and took the sales person on a drive and a few feet down the road it all happened like clockwork and we limped it back to the dealership. Thankfully I got it unwound because as cool as the car was (MR2 spyder), I needed it to be reliable mechanically as a work car and not just a project.
I am in the high end clothing business. When every single piece of clothing is hand made inside the UK or Italy you are going to have similar issues with customers. I have had a guy whip out a magnifying glass once. You want something that looks stamped out go get something mass produced and it'll last 1/4 the time. You want a jacket no one else owns, well your going to deal with the quirks of a craftsman at the height of his career.
My custom made jacket fits a little different than my Brooks Brothers stuff. I like them both, the custom just feels better and has all the little cool stitches and side pockets.
There is a whole lot of difference between made-to-order fashion/clothing and automobile manufacturing. Maserati certainly has the financial, manufacturing and technical wherewithal to produce well-designed, high-performance and reliable automobiles. But they CHOOSE to introduce ridiculousness into their process at each and every turn. Maserati isn't building vehicles to the exacting specifications of their customers - they are building cars according to their own whims and comprehension disinterest in design, build quality and reliability.
This is the same issue with guitars. You get these weird corksniffers who will use every perceived imperfection on a guitar to lowball. The common denominator are that these are older men with money who aren't used to not getting their way. These are the types that get off on getting a deal and will invoke that "let me speak to your manager" or "I'll have you tell that to my lawyer, then".
Can't count the amount of times someone's parent stormed into my office when I was doing F&I and demanded I give their child back the money, and take the car I forced them to buy back. They're all outside kicking rocks.
You probably shot gunned their credit and took care of yourself. And sold them window etching that was already placed on a used car. Oh and environmental protection. That $800 wax in the glovebox
Just 2 weeks ago (after extensive research on the car) I was looking at buying a 2010 mazdaspeed3. It's my first car that I was buying and it was hard as hell to find. I went to a dealer and test drove the car then decided it was for me and started paperwork. Until the financing came up. It was ridiculously high especially for my phenomenal credit score. So I said no and took a week to look at other ones and found another 2010 MS3. I went and test drove it and it was so much nicer. Bone stock, much nicer than the first one, and clearly the previous owner took amazing care of this car. I am extremely happy i waited instead of getting the first one. Can't always buy on the first look. Plus it gives the dealer a chance to "find" a better deal for you. Sadly this car is hard to find around me so I didn't get any leeway on the price but I'm happy and wouldn't change my choice.
Ed thank you. Your stories are amazing and keep me busy for hours! Even if I've already seen an episode. Your life must be amazing. Enjoy. Not all of us are as lucky as you
Hahaha this was great. As someone who works in a sales environment, I know exactly what this is like to an extent. Also, I fully understand the relief at times when you're NOT the manager.. great story, Ed
My happiest car deal was a red Miata. I had been sick, lost my job, had no money and then finally my luck turned and I landed on a job again. You have to have the right car to the right guy but the timing is very important as well.
Yep it's "standard operating procedure" at EVERY dealership, once you start signing papers, things go from "you're our favorite customer ever" to "it sucks to be you".
"Not like American or Japanese cars that come off the assembly line every 17 seconds" 😂😂😂😂 Ed you're quite the riot man, I needed that cause I'm sitting here working at Adient, building Ford F-150 seats (yes, even Raptors) and I totally second motion of that qoute lol
We had a lady try to get out of an sl500 that she had owned for 3 days. I was at a chevy dealer. We called the only 2 places in Texas that would want mercedes of Houston and then called Dallas. They both interrupted my boss mid sentence and said let me guess you have sl500 you need appraised. Apparently she had been to several dealers that day trying to not loose $50k in 3 days.
I can relate somewhat. Having a grown ass person say they want to buy something from you, then proceed to do exactly so, but having their parent, relative, or sibling come over and say "Yeah, he/she can't buy that." without any explanation whatsoever is so infuriating. It's one of the reasons for when i sell stuff i sell it anonymously through the internet, so i won't have to deal with that whole package.
Really don’t understand these people that do not think of the consequences of buying something like this and lack the sense of responsibility to try and get out of an honest deal.
Over his many years of shrewd negotiation Ed has somehow mastered the art of roasting people (Kimmy/Mother with painted face) and telling people to piss off without blatantly having to do so 😂
Immediately thought of this story after a customer of mine told me that he got cheaper digital art and complains about certain things that are part of a hand crafted artwork... Can`t make anyone happy I guess...
Aston guy sounds a lot like some of the Saab customers we used to get at the two GM dealers I worked at. One I remember in particular bought a brand new 9-5, came back the next day furious wanting to return the car because in looking over the car at home, he found a plain cloth air filter under the hood, and he had read in the owners manual it was supposed to be charcoal (Euro spec only, again this was brand new we had not changed the filter), he made us get him one from Sweden (6 week turn around) and install it, and stop his payments until it was installed. Saab people are different.
CAN RELATE TO THIS. I have bought a lot of cars on craigslist for an average of 500-1000 a piece, and ALL OF THEM have had undisclosed issues. How many times do I call the seller back and demand by cash back? Never. My money, my responsibility. I wish the people who bought all these cars from me would realize that. Look I'm really sorry that the '97 S10 you paid me 2000 for has an ABS light on, but it's not my fault that you somehow didn't notice during the test drive. Your cash, your responsibility.
I can relate to both sides; I absolutely adored my Quattroporte. It was a phenomenal and pretty practical sport sedan, but ultimately it’s a Maserati. I expected issues, I expected imperfections, and I expected that my relationship would be a love/hate kind. What I didn’t expect was the selling dealer to be a nightmare. The Maserati-Ferrari dealer down the road was wonderful, but they offered very few older vehicles. The dealer I ended up purchasing from made my ownership a nightmare, so we ended up giving them an ultimatum - give us our money back, or right your wrongs, at the very least, or deal with legal. Needless to say, we weren’t the easiest customers to deal with, but had to be the worst dealer experience I ever had. I’ve taken a step back for now - I’ll continue driving Mercedes, Audi, Jag, and the like until the time is right for another exotic.
Glad to know it's exactly the same at every car dealer no matter what you sell. The numbers are just bigger at the exotic places. People with buyer's remorse are the worst.
5:29 That car looks just completely bland. It looks like a car for people who think vanilla ice cream has too much kick, or who buy knee high socks because calf high shows off too much leg.
Ed, I wish I could of bought a car from you. Every car buying experience I've had always involved a liar car salesman, pushing hard to make deals, not keeping their word and sometimes swearing at me and walking away from me because I asked for a deal when I saw dents in hard to fix areas. My last car I bought had tire pressure light on from sitting in the lot a while and when I asked what that light was he told me it was a icey road condition light to just get me out of there after the deal. Abviously I'm at a car dealer to buy a car, why must some people push so hard and lie to sell a car to someone who wants to buy a car?
It's a shame how some car salespeople can be so shifty and dishonest. I worked at a new Ford dealership when I was 19 and quit after just six months because the dishonesty and disrespect toward customers was horrible. I was so excited when I started because I really liked Fords so I knew all the differences and features between all models of the current lineup and figured I would do well by being honest and knowledgeable, but nope -- the general manager was so focused on making as much money as possible off every deal and did not care whatsoever about how we closed the deal, just as long as it was done. His method was to say ANYTHING to make the sale regardless of whether it was true or even possible to do. If someone came in wanting a red manual-shift Focus, even though we HAD A RED 5-SPEED FOCUS, he would make us push the blue automatic Focus because that car was in inventory longer and he wanted it gone and he made us tell the buyer that Focus' no longer came in manuals and that the red was going to raise their insurance. Some people were unfortunately gullible enough to take my word for it and buy the blue auto Focus, because why would we lie about something so dumb like that? Others knew better and called me out and made me look like an idiot and feel terrible for having to lie, but dead seriously if I tried to sell them anything other than what the GM was pushing them on, he would yell in my face, getting spit all over me and saying over and over again that customers are stupid sheep and don't know what they want and that it's up to us to educate them on why they NEED something else. I know not all dealers are this way, but that short six months I was at that dealer showed me that there are horrible salespeople out there who just don't care about anyone but themselves and they're willing to lose a potential recurring customer over one crap deal rather than make a few bucks less on a deal that makes the customer happy who will likely keep coming back in the future and send their friends and family as well. It can be a nasty industry.
One interesting fellow called me about 30mins after buying a race car to beg me to take it back and give him a full refund as his wife had told him not to bring it home unless he wanted a divorce.
This guy? no, he is too much of an exotic clown. he does not understand the difference between "reliability" and "quality" in a car. Maserati are "hand built" so they must be better, right?
I love the stories , im sure they get much worse . , My Dad sold cars , he was mechanic got no runners going again . One night he took me along , actually close to a fishing spot , I found anther kid fishing , we chatted , couple more hours went by , I saw my dad still arguing over price . I went back down to ferry crossing , nice spot , the kid brought me a sandwich , great talked again , waited wtill dark , I asked dad if I could sleep in car , he said no , that man was buying car . So dad had no way home , I started walking it was going to be 8 miles , I could do it in 3 hours. luckily I got lift from neighbour . made it home before midnight , Dad had to walk home . He had argued for 6 hours over £750 car , just £10 short of asking price then at 2am he gave the buyer £20 as a luck penny to fill the petrol tank up. I had a lovely night , got fed , Dad said I had cost him money , and beat with his belt . I never helped dad with a car again. When I was 14 , I broke his arm and put him in hospital. Good Times
Sold cars for years, folks would sometimes try and return cars. We never ever unwind a deal unless it made a lot of sense or they have a VERY GOOD REASON. It was so uncommon I would go multiple years without seeing a unwind.
Ive had a customer find a semen filled condom from a car detail employee. His name tag and id badge were right next to it. He threatened us with bad Google reviews and pictures etc. So we fired the tech and unwound the deal.
I owned an '07 Aston Martin DB9 Volante for about two years - biggest POS on 4 wheels. In less than 20,000 miles, it was constantly (and I mean CONSTANTLY) in the shop for an unending litany of electrical and mechanical problems. Things fell off while I was driving, water seeped into the truck and one of the tail-lamps, the radiator leaked, parking sensors failed, etc, etc. The car was mercifully totaled out because of flood damage and it was, by far, the best thing that could have happened.
I think usually when buying a Aston Martin It's a hit or miss. My dad bought his first one it really was a shit box sold it. He got a second one never had a problem.
Kudos to your dad for going for broke and buying another one! I was so overwhelmed by the experience (and still can't believe a modern car can be of such low quality) that I'd never even consider the brand again.
Fantastic story and really hit a nerve . This is OCD at its finest and working for General Motors for 30 years i have learned that expensive cars attract this type of behaviour i am sure you agree . We sold a C7 vette to a customer and he insisted on standing there in his expensive Italian shoes and watch the tech install the carbon package , we allow a lot others wouldn't get if you are buying a Cruze . Unfortunately i suffer too . i always had two cars one i drove and the other sat in a garage and was driven very infrequently and always with great anxiety but i worshiped it . The end result was my wife gave me an ultimatum , either the car goes or i go . I sold the car and she divorced me a year later anyways . Looking back not a bad thing .
My brothers like that with cars and motorbikes. It took him 3 years to buy a Triumph Speed Triple. "Looking for the right one" They're mass produced for gods sake. I usually buy the first car/bike I go and see. Never a problem, always been happy.
Bought my Evo IX from a man suffering from severe OCD. This car was beyond mint, not a spec of dirt on a 4k car, and nearly backed out of the deal cuz I mentioned I would put an exhaust on it (didn't mention all the other stuff i wanted haha). Spent the last 12 years thrashing the evo on dirt, snow, pavement, and occasionally I imagine that man crying over what I've done the last 154k miles while Im sideways with a smile on my face
this other time at a Colorado Springs dealership they advertised a "huge sale thousands off " and to top it off a "factory appraiser" will be onsite to appraise your trade in no hassles etc etc so I test drove and was ready to buy a new 99 chevy 4x4 s-10 zr4 package time to see the "appraiser" the salesman had me sit behind a partition not really a office where I could hear the appraiser talk to salesmen after a few minutes I could hear my salesman try to get a word in but he was having a tough time as the appraiser kept cutting him off the salesman said I have a customer only to have the appraiser mock him and say did you hear that he actually has a customer and went back to talking to other salesmen finally the salesman said my customer has a 95 blazer two door again the appraiser cut him off and said I cant believe you actually have a customer etc etc besides he said a two door are you kidding me? as he and other salesman laughed I got up and walked outside got in my blazer and drove off I could see the poor salesman trying to flag me down
When I worked for Ford I hated customers like this! They'd come in wanting a perfect condition used car and get annoyed when they find hairline scratches or a stone chip. One customer who plagued me for 2 years after the most specific Ford Fusion and rejecting the 3 I found I had to tell him respectfully that he either needed to look at a brand new car which would meet his expectations otherwise I would have to stop looking for him as clearly I couldn't meet his expectations
OK I’m not a high-end car guy I’m a jeep wrangler guy let me get that out-of-the-way right now but when I want to talk about is the fact that I’m very obsessive compulsive I hate rattles I hate noises I hate uneven Ness it just annoys me for instance if there’s a rattle or noise if I know what it is I don’t care if I don’t know what it is I will tear whatever is making the noise a part in order to find it and fix it however that all being said if I had that kind of money and or was in that kind of situation and knew that the cars were 100% hand assembled I will be willing to let little things go knowing that this vehicle is unique that guy needs to get his head out of his ass and keep the cars he buys! LOL Great talk as always’
I worked at a boat dealership and I had sold this guy a boat. is it the wagon or the sedan? the wagon is probably one of my favorite cars
I feel like this little story would make for a great short film. I just got a grin out of imagining the scenario.

2 weeks of having the car I decide
I want to race this Z06 Beside me I was doing about 80mph in 4th gear And While at 80mph speed I shifted to 2nd Gear Oh my god I was so dumb 😂 The wheels locked I almost crashed luckily I didn’t I thought I broke the car because I felt some noises from under the car but luckily everything was fine How ever my Syncros needed to be replaced lol I was a noob at driving stick at the time
Ed - the kind of guy to get told to stop selling cars while working as a car salesman.
Gus Kipper that's what being a shrewd negotiator is all about
DeMuro jokes doesn't apply here!
he was too shrewd
maybe laws are different for exotics, or maybe just georgia... in nj by law you have 30 days, now, if you drive of the lot and come back the next day, no dealer would agree to this, but by law they are required and will take it back, but will do everything in their power and say anything not to take it.

Aston Martin guy SOUNDS EXTREMELY obsessive compulsive.
I think you're right. I would love / hate to see his garage. I would love the order yet hate him following me around and meticulously replacing and wiping every tool that i touched.
The guy needs a therapist not a new car.
He's just a dick - lol
He got talked into buying a car way out of his price range. He knew he screwed up. this guy sells expensive cars and not kia’s for a reason.
Hes more of a rich "can i talk to the manager" guy. Type of dude that asks for a discount on his wings, that he ate all of, because they were not crispy enough.

Quattroporte here
You mean, "It's Ferrari underneath yet with quadruple the depreciation... high maintenance cost and crap resale." Is there an upside anywhere? ;-)
Not to mention having to pay 20x more for all the features you could get in a camery and especially the giblis HORRIBLE exaust note
Ed is one of the main reasons I watch this channel
Little Car Whiz ed is the Channel 😂
Little Car Whiz *only
I wish he would do pod casts
Yep. Ed and Doug.
He’s the only reason I’m here.
This guy could tell how he went grocery shopping and it would still make a good video. Thumbs up!
Cereal Killer If he goes to Walmart, then I'm sure he could tell some interesting stories.
Noah Linebarrier Walmart is kind of an unfair advantage tbh. He has some serious storytelling skills
Yup i gave ed a thumbs up :) he always deserves it
He's a cars salesman.. what did you expect :P

Cant believe somebody traded a Aston Martin for a Maserati
He must really like the dodge dart interior hahhaa
Amen
People get robbed everyday. Most of the time they never know.
@@stevenchen365 It was a GranTurismo, not a Ghibli.
If its a mc stradale from Europe, much nicer than that boring aston. Especially a novitec 640 hp version.

switchcars good to know you sell garbage cars even to your friends 👍👍
bro he said he convinced his friend not to buy it, doesn't make switchcars a pos in my opinion.

Carter Harris well he said he tried to convince his friend not to buy it but I think his friend did actually buy it
Sage Sampson do not buy that car ... it can go 200mph+ is drift ready and has two turbos sticking out the hood its too dangerous....
Me...... hold my soda😂
I wonder how many cars could have been sold and then traded back in to the first guy. It's a shame the manager put the kibosh on Ed's skills or it might still be going on.
There's only so much working capital available to fund 2-day-old secondhand exotic cars.
Always sounds good thinking about it but I guess the hassle and the headache that came with it probably wasn’t worth it
Not the same but the same.
Worked at Sears in the bedding department. As you remember they had a “comfort guarantee” (at least in Canada) one guest (thank god NOT mine) was on her 47th mattress exchange in just a few months.
Volvo Cub and you end up with a shit ton of used beds
dealer would have ended up as a giant used car lot lol. once titled its considered used.

... and he loved it - which was kind of a unique sentiment for a Grand Sport or any Maseratti of that vintage...
Absolutely love your choice of words.
Yes, they are words of a classic Maserati hater. ;)
First guy definitely had extreme OCD
"No, you don't know what you want! Luigi knows what you want!"
~ Luigi, Cars [Disney film]
Don’t you just love his stories? The best line in this video- “trying to talk him off the ledge”. I laughed out loud!
KCautodoctor in California you also have to buy your cooling off period
Some dealerships also have return policies. Probably more likely with dealerships who sell low-end cost vehicles because they deal in higher volume.
Ed, you have the best stories.
Walter J. C Rabbit has some good ones too!
Yeah great guy to talk to if you wanna know what NOT to do. haha
For real.. this is my favorite channel..
Last time I was this early, Rob hadn’t been cursed by a witch
This is the same issue with guitars. You get these weird corksniffers who will use every perceived imperfection on a guitar to lowball. The common denominator are that these are older men with money who aren't used to not getting their way. These are the types that get off on getting a deal and will invoke that "let me speak to your manager" or "I'll have you tell that to my lawyer, then".
If the guy pulled up with the front wrapped like that, I would know this was going to be a strange interaction.
Can't count the amount of times someone's parent stormed into my office when I was doing F&I and demanded I give their child back the money, and take the car I forced them to buy back. They're all outside kicking rocks.
well, selling a car to someone under 18 without consent is illegal, so just don't go to jail, kid.
potatochobit probably dumb teenagers with bad jobs who think they can afford it because they get approved.
You probably shot gunned their credit and took care of yourself. And sold them window etching that was already placed on a used car. Oh and environmental protection. That $800 wax in the glovebox
These videos are so addicting :) . Cant stop watching.
Ed, you're an amazing story teller. You've earned my sub and hopefully millions more to follow!
And this...is why I choose to drive crap cars. Park 'em anywhere, wash 'em if ya' feel like it and, best of all...don't worry about impressing anyone.
No, you choose to drive crap cars because you cannot afford better ones. Lol

Ed thank you. Your stories are amazing and keep me busy for hours! Even if I've already seen an episode. Your life must be amazing. Enjoy. Not all of us are as lucky as you
People like this just don't understand how to live. Of course, I'm glad you still handled it professionally.
Hahaha this was great. As someone who works in a sales environment, I know exactly what this is like to an extent. Also, I fully understand the relief at times when you're NOT the manager.. great story, Ed
Seriously who freaks out and sends their mum over. Thats embarassing.

“There were days when I didn’t want to be General Manager “-😂
You know that you're in for a good story when Ed says "But that's not ALWAYS the case."
I'm more surprised that the Italian mom didn't make you give the money. You really are one shrewd negotiator Ed!
these are my favorite stories , all us car salesman have hilarious stories , good times
The last time I was this early Mischief 3000 still had the Gumball logo on the cover.
Jasen Dickey lol I get it

Good one!
Comment of the day!
Good one.
Really don’t understand these people that do not think of the consequences of buying something like this and lack the sense of responsibility to try and get out of an honest deal.
Well said !!!
Shrewd.
Ed is the perfect definition of a smooth operator .My vote is Ed for president
Listening to Ed makes me want to go out and buy a brand new supercar like I can afford it lmao
This is by far my Favorite Ed story,
Wow that’s crazy. Great story Ed!
Over his many years of shrewd negotiation Ed has somehow mastered the art of roasting people (Kimmy/Mother with painted face) and telling people to piss off without blatantly having to do so 😂
Here in Canada, you are definitely allowed to return the car within a set number days if you are not happy with it just like anything else you buy...
Some people are so picky..have very high expectations and never admit to being at fault. Those are some of the most unhappy people in the world ....
As soon as I read the title i knew it was going to be an Ed Bolian story
Immediately thought of this story after a customer of mine told me that he got cheaper digital art and complains about certain things that are part of a hand crafted artwork...
Can`t make anyone happy I guess...
Looks like his Mama wasn't a shrewd negotiator
Aston guy sounds a lot like some of the Saab customers we used to get at the two GM dealers I worked at. One I remember in particular bought a brand new 9-5, came back the next day furious wanting to return the car because in looking over the car at home, he found a plain cloth air filter under the hood, and he had read in the owners manual it was supposed to be charcoal (Euro spec only, again this was brand new we had not changed the filter), he made us get him one from Sweden (6 week turn around) and install it, and stop his payments until it was installed.
Saab people are different.
Never get tired of Eds stories
Ed needs to do a TED talk on how to tell a good story by using certain words, voice inflections, phrases, etc.
Ed your videos are very entertaining, I’m learning soooooo much about cars and financing them
I wish every car salesman was as eager as ed to help you out when you aren’t happy
One of the best Ed storys! Have heard it a couple of times now.
5:29
That car looks just completely bland.
It looks like a car for people who think vanilla ice cream has too much kick, or who buy knee high socks because calf high shows off too much leg.
It`s the wheels and color.... If black, it wouldn`t be bad.
Best stories ever.... knows his stuff :)
This is why I love Maserati, I'm one of the very few who is willing to pay to much for one.
They probably love you more than you love them.
Sounds like Mama was a JC Penny gal.

ED- some advice for everyone no matter what car you buy make sure your ready to sign lol ones it’s you sign it’s yours
One interesting fellow called me about 30mins after buying a race car to beg me to take it back and give him a full refund as his wife had told him not to bring it home unless he wanted a divorce.
It didn't matter how old, beat up, or pedestrian by VINwiki standards, I loved every car I've ever owned, both when I bought it and even the next day.
Any 50 yr old man that sends his Mommy to fix a problem HE caused regarding his Maserati doesn't deserve to own one!
Matt LeBlac is quitting Top Gear. Tell me Ed Bolian wouldn't be perfect for the job.
I would start watching Top gear again.

he does not understand the difference between "reliability" and "quality" in a car.
Maserati are "hand built" so they must be better, right?

I love the stories , im sure they get much worse . ,
My Dad sold cars , he was mechanic got no runners going again .
AcidDaBomb what would be a very good reason? Like undisclosed damage or something?
AcidDaBomb I've had a manufacturer buy back a motorcycle once
Ive had a customer find a semen filled condom from a car detail employee. His name tag and id badge were right next to it. He threatened us with bad Google reviews and pictures etc. So we fired the tech and unwound the deal.
*Shrewd Negotiation Intensifies*
2:45 "Talk him off the ledge !" HAHAHAHAHAHA
"Either way, it's still yours" I love it 😂
My brothers like that with cars and motorbikes. It took him 3 years to buy a Triumph Speed Triple. "Looking for the right one"
They're mass produced for gods sake.
I bought an Esprit years ago in the Atlanta area, from a very odd guy. I really hope this is the same person, ha!
Was it one of the special edition V8s?
Nope, S4. Both equally terrible cars though!
I feel like you would remember such a transaction but maybe not
Is it in VINwiki? Then maybe ed would know
I like his story telling abilities
this other time at a Colorado Springs dealership they advertised a "huge sale thousands off " and to top it off a "factory appraiser" will be onsite to appraise your trade in no hassles etc etc so I test drove and was ready to buy a new 99 chevy 4x4 s-10 zr4 package time to see the "appraiser" the salesman had me sit behind a partition not really a office where I could hear the appraiser talk to salesmen after a few minutes I could hear my salesman try to get a word in but he was having a tough time as the appraiser kept cutting him off the salesman said I have a customer only to have the appraiser mock him and say did you hear that he actually has a customer and went back to talking to other salesmen finally the salesman said my customer has a 95 blazer two door again the appraiser cut him off and said I cant believe you actually have a customer etc etc besides he said a two door are you kidding me? as he and other salesman laughed I got up and walked outside got in my blazer and drove off I could see the poor salesman trying to flag me down
Moral of the 1st story: Perfectionists aren't that bright. Also, sometimes it's appropriate to fire a customer.
His voice is so perfect, I'm so envious
