Captain America Winter Soldier is legendary.
One of the best movies that Marvel created.
This is one of the best MCU movies, Top 5 for sure. WS is OP.
To be honest, I wasn't the biggest fan of Captain America (the first one) and I'm saying that as a WWII buff, but The Winter Soldier more than made up for it. This is one of my favorite MCU movies. So many great moments or other things in this movie. That "scream" sound in the music still gives me chills.

Don't know if you noticed that little detail but Bucky didn't give Steve cpr because he actually waited and made sure Steve was alive and breathing before leaving him there. A little detail that shows deep inside he still cares but he's just been brainwashed and used as a killer machine for so long, he must be so confused and lost right now.
Also there's a part where, when they first fight, where Bucky grabs Steve by the neck with his bionic arm then tosses him away. He could have killed him but didn't. A small detail to indicate some part of Bucky is still in there under the brainwashing.
The "laser" Fury was using is actually called The Mouse Hole and was created by a character from Agents of SHIELD.
The directors of this movie, The Russo Brothers, worked in Community. There will be a few more cameos in future movies
It is GSP btw, he did a few acting roles after becoming the champ.

And nick just became last minute support for like age of ultron and recently he’s done nothing. Heck he got a skroll to do his work so he could go on a space vacation. Dude has been seriously sidelined and I hope we get a lot of him in secret invasion cuz I know he has big things he can do Im just waiting for him to do it. Apologies for the long message it’s late at night and I might of typoed.

The reason Abed from Community made an cameo appearance, The Russo Brothers who directored this movie, were also directors and executive producers on Community so they tried to get cameos from all of the Community actors in the MCU movies they directored...

I will always adore this movie, it never gets old.

Same here, since 2014 it has been my fav film ever because the theme it tackle (geo politics, espionage, national security) is so accurate to today's climax

In the comics Batroc the Leaper is one of the few normal people who can match Captain America in a fair fight. I am glad they worked him into the plot and had him do well.
Well, in 616 comics Steve is peak human so Batroc holding his own is nothing crazy. In the MCU this Steve is superhuman, here he is more like Earth-1610 so Batroc didn’t had a change, Steve was playing with him.
The ship was SHIELD [HYDRA agents working as SHIELD agents]. The ship intercepted some data files but had been taken over by pirates. Captain America's unit was activated to free that ship. Black Widow was sent by Fury to make a copy/backup/get the intercepted data from the ship. Fury got the data but was locked out of the SHIELD computer system and could not access the files. Then Fury was attacked. He passed the files to Captain America before he was assassinated. Captain America did not trust anybody, so he hid the files in the vending machine. He returned to get the files and found Black Widow. They teamed up to investigate the files and accessed the drive at a computer store in a mall. Black Widow said the files were heavily encrypted and she could not open them, but she was able to see that the files were originally programmed/transmitted from a military base in New Jersey. So they stole a truck and drove there looking for more answers/clues. Later at SHIELD headquarters, HYDRA is revealed and Black Widow reveals herself and starts downloading all of SHIELD's files to the internet. This required authorization from a high level SHIELD agent which is why Fury had to show up. There is no more SHIELD and all files on SHIELD's computers (about SHIELD and HYDRA) are now publicly available on the internet (which is why the senator from Iron Man 2 was arrested at the end of this movie)(this is why Fury burned all of his spy stuff at the end of the movie, it was now all available online). [Note: around the time that Captain America: The Winter Soldier was released in theaters there was a TV series airing called "Agents Of SHIELD" which followed a small team of SHIELD Agents that Nick Fury picked and trusted to continue searching for and stopping HYDRA leftovers while undercover and being very secretive, which ran for several years. The TV series was loosely connected to the MCU and is not required viewing in order to enjoy or understand the MCU.] [Note 2: around the time that Captain America: The Winter Soldier was released in theaters there was another TV series airing called "Agent Carter" that followed Peggy Carter's adventures after Captain America disappeared in the ice. She moved to America and became a spy/spy hunter and was involved in founding of SHIELD. Howard Stark is a recurring character in this TV series. This is not required viewing to enjoy the MCU, but several upcoming MCU movies mention things that happened during this TV show as easter eggs for people who did watch the TV series.] [Note 3: The next 11 MCU movies are fire].
Agents of SHIELD is not required to understand the MCU, yes, but it is still a delightful show with satisfying character arcs, insane plot lines and twists, and overall just a really well-written quality show to enjoy :)

Baron Strucker got a hold of the scepter because Hydra infiltrated SHIELD, which cleaned up the Battle after New York. He got it through Hydra.

ISTG the way they introduced the winter soldier and the falcon in this movie was ICONIC. bucky’s theme was my second favorite after wonder woman theme. IT IS so good
This is my favorite and arguably the best Marvel movie for me. the soundtrack is AMAZING. The Winter Solider theme is horrifying yet *so* good.
The bunker was a secret place for the hydra operative to meet so they could secretly get orders from Zola. Connecting the drive in this location allows them to not be detected since they are accessing a secure line not connected to the world grid.
The bunker is an abandoned place that shield no longer use
The ship was a SHIELD ship that had all secret Hydra agents working on it and NIck hired the pirates to capture the ship to have an excuse for Cap to go in and rescue them and for Natasha to hack their data.
There are a lot of Cameos in the MCU from Community folks thanks to the Russo Brothers, having worked on it

If we don’t include the nearly 70 years Steve was frozen, he is technically in his 20s. That’s when he got frozen. He’s the youngest but also the oldest. Lol.

@@emperorbelos6835 bucky is unfrozen and then frozen over and over... for all we know he could be unfrozen for years to do missions so he's going to be older than Steve.
@@smokeem15Natasha says at one point that The Winter Soldier would appear out of nowhere to go after a target, then disappear like a ghost. We can assume Hydra would just re-freeze Bucky after each mission or when he wasn't being experimented on.
I like to imagine that Abed and Troy actually do work at shield, and that troy is why the AC still worked in Fury's car even after it was getting shot up

The creators of Shield (Howard Stark & Peggy Carter) we’re the ones responsible for Hydra infiltration of Shield. They recruited former Hydra workers…
Fury didn’t hire the ship. It was a Shield ship but Fury thought Shield was compromised so he hired the pirates and used the ‘rescue’ mission for Natasha to hack the ship.
In the comics Zola was a German scientist who transfered his mind into a robot body. They did a good job here making him a computer.
Making notes for your list is actually a great idea
Honestly, I'd love to see a character/avenger list as well, and you can just revisit it each movie as more characters are introduced and the existing characters get more developed.
Apparently Nick Fury had become suspicious of the algorithm used for Project Insight (the helicarriers) even before Cap had talked to him, so he secretly hired GSP and the terrorist group to hijack the ship (where the algorithm was uploaded) and used the rescue mission as a cover for Natasha to obtain a copy of the algorithm from the ship’s computer without SHIELD’s knowledge. The USB led them to the bunker in New Jersey and there they found out about Zola and Hydra.
Ps: I’m shocked that you guys consider Iron Man 2, but especially Iron 3, better than Winter Soldier 😱 usually, for fans of the MCU Iron Man 3 is the worst Iron Man movie, if not one of the worst MCU movies, especially up to this point 😅😂 and that you put Captain America: the First Avenger before Winter Soldier, since usually the first one is considered the worst among the three Cap’s movies 😂
Iron Man 3 is vastly underrated imo. It’s actually my favorite Iron Man movie.

The information on the flash drive was not data Fury created. It was data from Hydra. When Steve and Natasha saw New Jersey as the location that would be the data source, they went to Camp Leigh. This was a trap set by Zola. Zola being recruited into S.H.I.E.L.D. was based on Operation Paperclip where top ex-NAZI scientists were recruited into US service. The biggest recruit was Wernher von Braun the inventor of the V-1 and V-2 super weapons. He was instrumental to the development and success of NASA and the US space program. In Wernher van Braun's case it worked out well. In Zola's fictional case it was, well, shall we say less than satisfactory. Perhaps even disastrous? As Tony Stark would say, "Yup."
In the comics, Zola ended up in a robot. Our first look at Zola in Captain America: The First Avenger through the magnifier was a call back directly to the comics. He ended up with his head in the stomach on a TV that was the monitor for a robot computer. If someone can explain this better, then that would be welcome.
One of the things about a movie or series being predictable is the foreshadowing used in the making of a movie or series. Going for a surprise ending without foreshadowing is lazy writing. O. Henry was the master of twists and surprises, but he used foreshadowing.
I wish there was an outtake from the reveal that Bucky was The Winter Soldier. Chris Evans would say to Sebastian Stan, "Hello Buckets of Wheat!"

This is what I think about the whole USB logic:
1. Nick noticed project insight had problem. So he hired JSP hijacked the ship so Natasha could steal the file.
2. Nick got shot he gave Steve the USB. So Steve and Natasha tried to figure out what's in the USB.
3. Natasha couldn't find out what's in the USB, but she figured out where the algorithm came from.(Where is the bunker) So, they came to the bunker, tried to find out the truth.

GSP has played the villain BATROCK in this movie as well as in the falcon and the winter soldier.
Fury hired the pirates to inflitrate the ship so he could get the information in the ships computers. Once he got the information they were not able to access it. Black Widow was able to track the source of the info which led them to the bunker
You guys, Nick Fury is still necessary that’s why he can’t die yet. He’s underground but he is also still working.
Nick Fury hired the pirates to hijack the ship, not knowing Hydra was behind it, he just had a feeling that there was a dirty agent(s) involved. Black Widow downloaded the ship's hard drive on Fury's orders so he could see what these dirty agent(s) might be up to. When he tried to open the files and finds them locked under his name but not with his voice print, that's when he got nervous. As he was on his way to a secure location to meet up with Hill, hydra attacked him in the car. Hydra knew Fury tried to open the files and found him the same way they knew where to look for Cap and Widow in the mall.
Abed as the random cameo because the Russo brothers (who directed this movie) also were writers on the show Community🙌🏼

one of the best things about this movie iscasting a Robert Redford. this is a signal that this movie goes beyond superhero movies, this is a political thriller, similar to other movies Redford was in, like, All the Presidents men and three days of the condor. political thrillers about conspiracy and dealing with the issue of giving up freedom for security.

29:17 the Russos wrote for Community so you'll have a cameo of a community actor in each of their Marvel movies. There's one here, There's one in Civil War, and I don't know if there's one in Infinity War but there's 2 in End game

Easily one of my favorites of the MCU. For the fandom, Iron Man 2 and 3 are some the weakest movies so your lists are very interesting.
Iron man 3 shouldn’t even be near iron man 2. Iron man 3 is easily one of the goats
To be fair, they keep saying they have Iron Man 3 at the top just because they like Tony. That's all it is. They said they did the same here when they put First Avenger above Winter Soldier just because it had more characters they liked like Peggy, Howard, and Schmidt. These lists aren't exactly ranking which movie they think is better so much as they are which one they enjoyed more just because of the characters in them. Because if this were ranking them based on the better movie, Winter Soldier is easily still one of the best by far based on the story alone.
