According to Anthony and Joe Russo who directed the movie and to Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely who wrote the movie, "Winter Soldier" is a reference to a quote from Thomas Paine who said "The SUMMER SOLDIER and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country" meaning that people who only stand by their country when conditions are nice will abandon it when things get tough. A "WINTER SOLDIER" would be the opposite - someone who stays faithful even no matter how difficult the situation gets. The filmmakers said the title "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" has two meanings. First, it means Captain America vs.The Winter Soldier (Bucky's codename because he never gives up until he achieves his mission). Second, it means Captain America is a Winter Soldier who stands by his principles even if it's difficult and the cost is high.

This is where the MCU really starts kicking into high gear.

One of my favorite Marvel moments is when the random tech guy refuses to launch the ships. He fully expected to die in that moment, but he still refused. He doesn't have super powers, he's just an ordinary person, but he had a heart of integrity. He shows that ordinary people can still be heroes, without being wealthy geniuses or super soldiers.

Don't assume Russians are always the villains. Remember, Natasha is Russian.

Sam Wilson is my favorite character in the MCU. He was just such a generously nice guy from the very beginning. And as The Falcon, he is so awesome.

This is the movie that really made me like Black Widow's character. It's also a personal favorite movie of mine in the entire MCU. I kind of wish they'd play around with various genres more with each movie installment like they did with this one.

Fun Fact: Black Widow is Russian. In the comic books she is a product of the Soviet Super Soldier program much like Captain America was the result of an American super soldier program. She isn't the same, but she IS similar in that her abilities are enhanced.

The list that Cap gets is different for each region. For example the UK release of the film has the 1966 World Cup and The Beatles on it. I think there's a website somewhere that shows all the different versions of the list.

Zola invented machine learning/deep learning algorithm. Using the algorithm he invented immortal version of himself.

The bad guy on the ship at the beginning is a classic comic villain for Captain America, known as Batroc the Leaper, a master of Savate: French kickboxing.

Paused in the middle to say I appreciate you for exposing Russian stereotypes (also in the Black Widow intro scene in the Avengers). I'm not Russian myself, but I see stereotypes on screen every time an Israeli\Jewish character appear. I mean, we all know Hollywood cinema does stereotyping all the time, and sometimes it's entertaining. But it's very important to talk about them and out these notions for being ultimately wrong.

Yes a 22 Magnum is a gun. The number refers to the size of the bullet and Magnum means it has extra gun powder in it.
