      The wind clocked 73 mph in that dust storm. Worst storm I've experienced in the West Valley

    I was out walking when yhis hit. It was like a train. Temp dropped bigtime, super loud and you had to lean into it to not get knocked over. And we actually got a little rain out of it.

      @@lorid6544 phoenix metro is HUGE! Avondale (south) and surprise (north) are both very west.
      Takes over 1.5 hours to drive from north west valley to south east.
      Very likely they missed the brunt of it, but they should have some wind and sprinkles!

    Back in the 90's, I think, two storm fronts collided over the Phoenix area. If I remember right, it actually caused a small tornado. I still miss Arizona.

      There was a tornado last year up near Coolidge but it was only on the ground for a bit. I was up there for business and left right before it hit, and heard about it on the drive back into Tempe!

    FYI us Arizona natives speak English and not Arabic. We use the correct term "Dust Storm" to describe this type of weather. Not only is "Dust Storm" correct it is also perfectly descriptive.
    Haboob is not, unless you happen to speak Arabic.
    I am a native since 1958 and my wife since 1956.

    • @scotts9760
      @scotts9760 ปีที่แล้ว

      The proper name now is haboob according to the U.S. National Weather Service. And for your information if you knew how many words the English language has adopted from the Arabic language you would be truly amazed. 😅

      @@briancooney9952 No, it is a scientific term, like Alchemy, Alkaline, Borax, Sodium, Alcohol, Algebra, Almanac, but those are just Average terms and have Zero virtue signaling and just using what it is actually called. Remember before north america was discovered in the late 1400s, the only terms for "dust storm" was the Arabic origin words. now if you look at what i have typed, i only used Arabic words that have the first letter capitalized. think about that the next time you have Coffee and rock out with Hazard pay to heavy metal Guitar music while eating Candy and Soda.
