    I think that you don't realize how humble you are. Of course Andy will remember you. He wouldn't remember someone like me because I'm just a mere mortal in the the guitar world. You are an innovator and instructor and an influence and a bloody amazing guitarist not just a bloody amazing musician, so yeah, I think that Andy, Frank and anyone else you meet will remember you. Also you are a bloody nice chap too, you seem genuine and humble and nice and you definitely love music and that shows, so I think you don't really give yourself enough credit because you really are amazing.. Peace Brother Alex Peace 🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸✨✌

      Thank you man, I think as time goes on I'm becoming more aware of my humbleness and it's not always a good thing i think, for the reasons you mentioned. Unfortunately I think an unassuming nature can be misunderstood or come across rude sometimes but really in my heart I always mean well..... It's something I think I need to work on..... But as always man thank you ever so much for watching and wonderful comments.... All the very best 👍🎸🙏

    the differents between andy and other guitarists is the more i listen to andy, the more i excited to pick up the guitar.. and andy's music is not about the genre or music theory, it's just simply an Art.. even if you a metal guy, jazz player, or a rapper, you could still enjoy his music and have no critics at all 😌

    You are so right (btw. your playing is absolutely amazing)!
    Where Satriani sounds a bit "spacy", Lukather a bit much compressed, Eric Johnson a bit violin-thin, Andy Timmon's tone is so close to the natural, dynamic, juicy and emotional expression of a singer imo.

    Andy is in my top 3 guitar players. The crazy thing about him is that you can feel the emotion of his play just by watching him play even without any sound.
    The best demonstration of this is his Cry For You live youtube video that has 3M of views.
    Gives me a thrill everytime i watch it.
    And again, fantastic playing Alex, your style is so diversified and your tones are very tasty. Great job man !
    PS: I really appreciate you talk about the dynamic in this video. Andy use clean channel quite a lot for his soloing, and then just boosting it up with just few pedals or preamp.
    I've been experiencing the same using S-Gear software. I'm using a clean Tweed-like amp, putting a compressor in front of the whole chain to boost it and then using a mesa boogie drive pedal emulator.
    I love using clean channels/amps just because it allows you to play with dynamic and experience lot of different tones just with the volume/tone knobs as well as the pickups.

    • @AlexHutchingsMusic
      @AlexHutchingsMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes mate I agree with you. So expressive. It sounds like you are quite a dynamic player yourself, really cool. Thanks for the kind words and for watching. 👍🎸🙏

    Hi Alex, thanks for another very insightful video
    We left last week with the pick holding position, trigger "vs" pen
    I spent last week going through those two, and basically moving from radial/ulnar movement (paint up-down)of pen hold to prono-supination (turn door knob) of trigger position
    Didn't remember how smooth the trigger position is, although it loses the aggression of "pen" position
    On that note, I ventured into "reverse pen" (turn the pick 90° clockwise from the pen position if you keep it an angle like Paul Gilbert") and it does wonderson downpicking
    Many times we got swamped in positions, but every position has it place, and most of all involves different muscles of hand/forearm, which is good, because those muscle will strengthen in new ways of playing and help on the old ones we use

    Lovely vid mate and dynamics is the king! It’s the magic ingredient that all our fave players have mastered.
    Did I lend you my copy of Ear Xtacy? I seem to remember worshiping at the alter of Timmons back then. Then again his playing was blowing me away when he was with Danger Danger...shame they were a little bit poo hahaha!! I still think one of the chewiest recorded guitar sounds was Nuno’s on Three sides...it’s like rubber hahaha!! Now there’s a player 😀

I didn't know if you'd want me to say your name on the video, but yes I have you to thank for a lot of my guitar education 100%.... Timmons especially.... Oh the good old Heron days eh? Those jams upstairs etc... great times...Yeah there's a great concert of Danger Danger I used to watch back in the day, maybe Live in Japan... great playing for sure.
      I'll tell you what man, III sides is one of my all time fav albums.... Sooooo good on many levels...
      Hope to catch up with you and the gang soon mate.x 👍🎸🙏

    ...I guess, you meanwhile get my point, that you're simply brilliant. So I just want to tell you, that you are absolutely right again! Since I got my new, VERY great guitar, my playing changed a lot automatically! From just shredding scales and arpeggios to actual MUSIC and EXPRESSION in every note. Which is really the true fun on the one hand and the true ground breaker technically on the other hand. I always play melodies (WITH the brain involved!) to warm up and pretty often come up with new ideas. Just by warming up. And the practice session goes on like that. And even when the "shred part" of the practice kicks in, it's like i've made a 2-hour-session for that before. It's the real key to mastery, I guess. The bad thing is: I needed 22 years of passionate playing for this revelation... :D Better late, than never, hm? ;) Cheers!

    I'm shocked but very happy, because I guessed Andy Timmons would be in your Guitar Gods series and yet I never really thought you'd include him... needless to say... I agree with everything you've expressed here. Andy is simply marvelous, incredible, amazing, fabulous... kinda like you, my friend. :-) Sorry for that, I know you're humble and probably struggle with the constant compliments... Andy Timmons definitely has a quite similar humility to his personality, its very special to find, I wish more humans had it but that only makes us appreciate those who do have it even more. In terms of music, humility is kinda sorta like "leaving space between the notes", not constantly just shredding a million miles an hour even tho you can certainly do so... I ordered a DVD from Andy and when it arrived, it also included a signed photo of him on stage, signed in sharpie complete with my real name proving he took the time out of his day to thank me for my purchase... as I say, a special human being from all appearances that I've seen. Thanks for sharing, you have made some TERRIFIC influence choices!!

      @AlexHutchingsMusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much mate, you're right, sometimes it can be difficult to receive compliments but I'm learning how important it is in developing as a person and a musician.... Since doing this series and interacting with you guys a little more it's something I've really considered in depth. Perhaps theres too much to go into here but may it could be a topic to approach in the future. I'm considering another series where we talk about these topics not just music, because regardless of ability or skill level as you quite rightly say, perhaps this is more a topic of humility, which we can all relate to. Either way thank you again for taking the time to express yourself in your wonderful comment and have a fantastic weekend. 👍🎸🙏

    • @asb3pe
      @asb3pe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andy Timmons almost has a certain shy quality to him (he hides behind his longer bangs haha), not sure if he ever struggled with it in his career ("stage fright") but I know my own shyness and painful self consciousness always held me back, it literally meant I could only play in the privacy of my bedroom, otherwise with people listening and watching me I became a total klutz who just couldn't perform at all. Thankfully I never seriously considered music performance as a career, it was always just an enjoyable hobby. I think a making a video on topics like this not directly related to music itself would still be very valuable to hear. I bet a lot of performers struggle with the humilty and fan adoration and stuff like that.
