I recently realized something about Andy Timmons playing that we can all learn from. It's more than scales, licks, or tone.. It's about being super intentional and playing what feels natural and good. Enjoy this episode!

A lot of worthless talk. This concept has nothing to do with playing in the style of Andy Timmons.

I discovered Andy Timmons around the time he released Resolution. I was immediately blown away and listened to it for a solid year straight. Then put it away for year but recently rediscovered that album and damn, is it ever fantastic. I started piecing together some of the songs and I love the way he utilizes chords and leads together. The whole Resolution album was written using the concept of Andy being the rhythm and lead guitarist at the same time, and damn did he ever deliver.

I discovered David about a month ago and I have to say my playing has improved 100%. I'm now soloing all over the neck using the dorian mode which I never thought I'd be able to do. I'll certainly buy the modes course too. Thanks a lot David!

in all honest. I've never really like using a pick. I much preferred the feel of the strings against my fingers and thumb. now i'm giving country a go and now I use both pick and fingers and rather like it. it does feel like you are more in contact with the instrument.

So well explained and put forward, David!!! Music IS a language (THE universal language IMHO), and the more vocabulary you have, the more you can express yourself in many different ways. That is why players like Jeff Beck and Andy Timmons (and David Wallimann of course) are amongst the best guitarists-story-tellers. Kudos 👏

Thanks so much! It makes absolute sense! Awareness, connection, being one with the Music, returning to the beginner's mind with the techniques developed along the way; those are the keys to it all! Andy Timmons is the perfect example for that! And you are a great teacher for showing us what is really important about playing guitar.

@@Wallimann yeah thinking about getting the Ampete vs KHE vs Delisle. The Delisle high end unit has the amp switching, attenuator, and effects loop if you have outboard stuff. Having said that I use TH-U 90% of the time 😁

The techniques and all that stuff is so readily available to us that it almost doesn't matter anymore. the focus should be on the mentality and the connection to the music so thank you for this lesson David.
