Would it not just be easier to use the mask tool in power director and keyframe the mask and not have to key-frame the 4 positions of the garbage matte? For this particular example. I can see other cases that the garbage matte could be used.

My version 2021
Records fine.
But when I do a playback it stutters jerks and almost freezes.
I tried using different media players.
VLC & WMP
IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IT'S STILL PLAYS BACK BADLY ANY IDEAS WHY ?

I was wondering, can you use tracking to help you with the garbage matte?
I noticed you point buttons in every video i have seen, would not it be easier to make video about basic movement inside power director and have it always in description, then only to point unusual activities, like different effects options, that are often different from each other (for example) in terms of setup?

You can use garbage matte on pictures but don't think you can use them as a thumbnail. That would be best left to photo editing software. There are lots of free ones out there like getpaint.net that can be used to make thumbnails.

When I try to use NewBlueFX and click on "Download NewBlue in the FX column, a window pops up that says "You're trying to use a feature that requires a web browser on this system. Install and enable a web browser on your PC and then try again." ?????? I have a web browser and internet on my PC so I don't know what's going on. ?? Please advise.

No. As stated at the beginning it is a plug-in which is an add on to the program
hi my question is out of topic but i cant wait. my video editing software powerdirector 16 is giving me trouble when i try to use the software called screen recorder. the video acts weirdly like if i move the mouse it either pauses or disappear and the videos also pause or start going fast like i skipped it. can you please help me out.
The screen recorder is a separate application that comes bundled with the software. I don't use it so I can't help with that. 😞
oh well i thought you did to record the screen of the things you do with the power director. anyways i need to find any lite version of a screen recorder that will run fine with my computer. anyways thanks and welcome back we all did missed you

Why do they call it "garbage matte"?
I think because it was considered a quick way of making a matte that wasn't any particular shape.
