Looking on Autotrader right now for any 'interesting' brand new cars costing £18,000 or less, after discounts... So, do you fancy a 1.0litre Seat Ibiza, a 1.2litre Vauxhall Corsa or, maybe, a 1.5litre MG3...? That's pretty-much your lot, dude...!! 🤣
No mention that the previous version was quite unreliable and needed multiple visits to the dealership for software and other issues. Or the fact they depreciated massively. This will also. Simply because you need to tick so many of the overpriced option boxes to bring it up to spec of cars £50k cheaper. A wonderful second hand buy in 2-3 years time.
Depreciation is no worse than ANY high-cost, sports saloon, irrespective of its powertrain... For example, based on 3 year-old examples on Autotrader right now: (Pre-facelift) Porsche Taycan Turbo saloon: £130,875 RRP down to £94,990 after discounts - used on a 21 plate £53,964 (57% resale value) BMW 8 Series Grand Coupe: £90,800 RRP down to £71,386 after discounts - used on a 21 plate £32,985 (46% resale value) Audi S7 Coupe: £79,925 RRP down to £76,500 after discounts - used on a 21 plate £35,870 (47% resale value) So, based on those ICE cars, the Porsche Taycan resale value's actually stronger 😎
True... though, actually, to get one for £40k, you'd have to be looking at 3 year old entry-level Taycans. But, that's absolutely no different to ANY high-cost, sports saloon, irrespective of its powertrain... For example, based on 3 year-old examples on Autotrader right now: BMW 8 Series Grand Coupe: £90,800 RRP down to £71,386 after discounts - used on a 21 plate £32,985 Audi S7 Coupe: £79,925 RRP down to £76,500 after discounts - used on a 21 plate £35,870 So, based on those ICE cars, the Porsche Taycan resale value's actually stronger 😎
I drove a Taycan on the weekend. I have driven all the Tesla's, and I was very impressed. Well, after driving the Taycan I must say for sheer torque it felt like warp speed on Star Trek, absolutely amazing! Now the bad news, if you're tall, forget this car, what a pain to get in and out of.
@@Birmingham_racing Don’t mistake the official, quoted WLTP range for what, in reality will be a good deal less, especially during the colder months -of which there are a fair few in the UK.
I'm as big a Porsche Fanboy as possible, but 3 things my Tesla does that Taycan can't: Phone key, one pedal driving and app-adjustable AC charging speeds. I slow-charge my Tesla at Home when the sun shines. I check the solar app. It tells me for the next 6 hours it'll always produce above 7 kW with a nice lunch peak of 9,9 kw (max power of solar panels) So in the Tesla app I tell it to only charge with 7 kw. That day, I don't spend a penny for what's a good 120 miles of real world range. The fact that that is impossible with even the new Taycan really annoys me.
One pedal driving is not for everyone, personally found it weird. Coasting is much more comfortable way to drive. Setting max charging speed should be possible with AC charger itself, so not an issue. Can only agree with lack of phone key - would be nice to have it (maybe Macan EV with a better software will allow to do this)
I've got a '23 GTS Sport Turismo and it is truly a brilliant car, the facelift can only be better I'm sure. That said the biggest issue I have with mine is the fact it hates pot holes and the UK roads, I'm now on my 4th new tyre this year having hit a pothole in the dark last night and then I have the long wait for a recovery truck to take me to my destination. I suspect very low profile tyres, a massively heavy car and holes/poor road surfaces don't mix very well.

Nobody should buy a new Porsche. They are now massively depreciating and chained to VW Group service culture. The worst of which is the Porsche Taycan. Cars with less than 1 year and 1000 miles on their clock are selling for 60-70c on the dollar. The doom loop that was initiated by VW Group's unbridled greed and their massive dealer 'order premium fees' to get a car during COVID, has started. VW Group may have printed money during COVID, but they also lost a significant part of their customer base in doing so. And they are not coming back.
That cabin looks cheap and nasty with the two gaping holes for the cup holders! I've got a Genesis Electrified G80, which when I bought it two years ago cost circa £80k, and it's just as quick as that Taycan albeit with a lower range of 320 miles indicated. However unlike the taycan it looks and feels every inch an absolute luxury car, with every feature included in that price. Clearly the motoring press have got it I for this car as they never mention it!
@@xpivelx Actually I'm happy to be classed as 'old money', being nouveau riche is always considered somewhat distasteful!! BTW the Electrified G80 was launched by Genesis only a little over two years ago, meantime the Taycan has been knocking around for some five years!
Its a £96k ev. Completely irrelevant. Ice is the only way to go. Evs have been found out. Too expensive, horrendous depreciation no proper charging network and boring to drive.. no emotion.. give me a used 911 gt3 for the same money👌👍
Found out for what being great to drive and fun still and lightning quick if you want. Will sit in a traffic jam for hours sweet as a nut and will tear up a alpine pass handling like a Porsche.

Another great review Vicky. Thank you. Hope you are well.
Great review. Get my 4s on Saturday. Can’t wait.
That range and charging speed is really impressive
Vicky is the reviewer anyone can relate to. Well done.
A version for everyone? Is there a version for someone who can only afford to spend a maximum of £18,000?
Yes. There's a radio controlled toy model.
On another planet isn’t she!

For that you can buy a Porsche steering wheel and a couple of badges for your present daily driver?

Hugely knowledgeable. I love her videos.
£96k? Just wait a couple of years and pick it up for under £40k.
Can someone show me where all these really cheap used EVs are. Any time I check they are still very expensive.
No. I want brand new.

Finally getting some decent range

Drive the Taycan, the driving dynamics are fantastic - sports car excitement vs the meh appliance feel of a Tesla.
