    Warning. My Swytch kit arrive in the usual 6 months or so. Was not worried about that. Loved the kit but 11 months in the battery died (Within the warranty period) I did some tests they asked me to do and they said it was the bracket. They sent that about 5 months later and it didn't fix it. They got me to do the tests again and with the same results as the first time they diagnosed it as the power pack. by this time I had spoke to about 10 different people who didn't seem to have any knowledge about prior conversations. The latest rep said it didn't happen within the warranty period and that they couldn't send the battery to Sweden because it was 'Dangerous Goods'. After more frustrating back and forth someone higher up the chain apologised and said they would send it within 48 hours and that I would get it within two weeks. That was 6 weeks and 3 emails ago. So it's been 11 months since my bike broke and I've spent more money on public transport than the kit cost me in the first place. Wish I could get my money back but I'm stuck in no mans land waiting for this company to fulfill the minimum requirements of it's warranty agreement. I'm considering taking legal action but I'm honestly so tired of talking with them that their wear down approach of incompetence might overcome. Loved this product so much. Recommended it to lots of friends who now have kits and I hope this doesn't happen to them.

      Understand your frustration with Swytch. The battery is basically garbage. I had the first generation battery as displayed in this video and it lasted about 18 months which is far less than the 3 year range they claim the battery will be operational with degradation of battery life. I went to Geeko G100 for a Swytch copy and far happier with the bottle style battery with a range of 50+ miles on the lowest power level 1. No more Swytch ever again.

      I had a simular issue but after realising that the customer support wasnt responding in the way they should iand i live in the uk were the company is based i took to complaining . I initially complained on facebook no responcse after a day so i also contcted them via twitter. Which they responded to within 24 hours . Once i complained all of a sudden everything was being done to sort my problem out. They tried the replacement bracket with me first which was like urs not the issue . So a new battery solved my issue. So bad bpoints about swytch. Customer service is poor . Had a few funny worded emails from a few staff which i replied with strong words to the staff but no apolagy etc. The wheel was slightly warped when i got it. I emailed them they ignored it but as inwas using disks didnt really cause me issues and i had already waited 6 months for the kit so. The power on the bike is good on full does what it needs to but the battery is a bag pooo. The range i was given for my model was 25km but i ride everywere on full power as fast as i can ride everywere so really i reckon id get 6 miles tops on full speed and the battery power always lowers really quickly about 2 miles i reckon and i loose a bar of charge on the battery. Met a few people with the new swytch kit who also had the old one who said the new one is way less powered than the old one and that guy was very dissapointed. Good points . Great the way the battery comes off makes the bikes not even look like ebike when locking it up . Also when talking to other poeple with other kits they have issues with rain. I can go out in terential rain through major deep puddles and just not and issue . To the point were strangers will talk to me when im out in the wet being suprised im out in such bad weather as they always have problems. Hope that helps peeps. Is strange that the vid showed the old kit bit outdated

    Thanks for the review - I have been using a Leeds conversion kit for about 6 years now. It is a push button control - so no need for the fancy magnetic pedal monitor. I mainly use the electric for added torque on starts and hills. Installed on a Trek hybrid bike that at the time was about 10 years old. Adding electric power made riding more fun and accessible in my advancing years. Leeds is based in Utah. This Swytch system looks nice, small battery and has a nice dashboard display, but I do not want full time power assist. The Leeds does not have any display for battery info, but I have not had any problem with the battery over these 6 years. Just charge it up whenever I think it is time.

    Folks been bitch about the Swytch in UK cos of battery location, but there a really good idea in many ways, you get to keep your favourite bike and is fine for city / shorter journeys, the UK/EU law is max 250w anyway ( Yes that's less than Barbies car which puts out a full 1/2 HP) 😂also nice quality/ good looking ebikes are very expensive

    • @user-gh9ws1uj9p
      @user-gh9ws1uj9p 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, you're right about the UK law. We are restricted to 15.5 mph. If a throttle is fitted where pedaling is not needed, it must be taxed and insured as a moped. I am considering turning my 1962 Hercules into an e bike.

      @@user-gh9ws1uj9p yes it would be easier to get a nice old bike and convert to electric than to build something that meets the standards

    I added it to my pretty nice city hybrid, which I use for a lot of errands, grocery shopping, etc. It's a great addition. I strongly recommend getting the brake sensor, and the thumb throttle for pickup from being stopped at a light.
    I have the smaller battery (I think now the only battery size) which I find a little limiting in cold Canadian winters, since it loses range. It is nice that the pack is easy to bring inside for charging or when it's cold out.

    Since you didn't have the right size of shim for cadence sensor. I would have wrapped something around the petal crank arm to act as a temporary shim. Like thicker foam or rubber weather stripping anything that fills the gap and can be wrapped around crank arm and can then be pulled out or cut out after the sensor is in place.

    Note on zip-ties: If your zip-ties are too short, you can make a longer one by putting two or more zip-ties in series to make a longer one.

    Magnetic attraction force follows the inverse CUBE law, so keep that in mind when installing the Hall effect sensor.

  • @DDLovett
    @DDLovett ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You reslly need to get those shims to fit to keep the magnet ring centred, then the zip ties are just holding the ring to the arm.

    If I get four of those, and put one on each wheel of my '78 D100 pickup, and then remove all the heavy things(engine, exhaust, gas tank, etc.)?
    I have to wonder if that would work. No, I would have to put pedals in.
