The weather today was absolutely CRAZY. I've never experienced this heavy rain at the Nürburgring. Even though I was under a tarp, it was nearly impossible to film and keep the cameras dry(ish).
Note: Apologies for the extra watermark in the middle of the screen.
Unfortunately I have to do this since my videos get copied a lot on other social media platforms.

A G body el Camino on the track thats surprising
They're surprisingly easy to handle when getting sideways, maybe a bit different with the El Camino as it's got no weight in the back compared to other G bodies... but I used to have a Buick Century Estate which was a G-body, and drove it in winter, with some good studded tires it was amazingly easy to control in a slide.

What did the BMW at 7:40 get busted for? License plate?
Believe me or not but drifting is prohibited during tourist trips. I don't think they pull out everyone who drifts, but he overdid it
Yupp.. it's not a drift track. Drifting is for the weak and slow. 🤷♂️
people are informed that drift is prohibited, and that mighty M3 E92 pushed his luck waaaay too many times, so probably got banned.
I've read that rubber left by drifters makes the track more dangerous, rubbered track on dry is cool but it makes the grip level go up on the racing line but also down if you're off line, which you will be more often than not during sunday drive.
And rubber on track is especially dangerous in wet conditions: wet rubbered tarmac is way more slippery than clean wet tarmac, the racing line will become holiday on ice, so really not sunday driver friendly.
drift tracks need heavier maintenance than a proper racing track, that's a thing that they don't want to do/pay for.

Anyone got tips for going to the ring for the first time? Specifically for the 24h
Book the hotel, a long time before you are going, to be sure that you have a place to stay.
There is going to be quite alot of traffic, and alot of the parking areas are probably going to costs money.
Dont drive like an idiot around the area.
Other than that, just have the best time of your life 😁
Habe leider öfters auf diesem Kanal sehen müssen,das der Leitung der Ring ungeachtet der Wetterverhältnisse der Bahn frei geben, finde ich höchst bedenklich, der Nutzer bei Schnee,schwere Regenfälle fahren zu lassen, wenn da das Unfall Risko sehr viel höher ist, und der Betrieber Schäden beseitigen müssen,die nicht notwendig waren,wenn man bei Bestimmte schlechte Wetterverhältnisse der Ring einfach zu macht, ein Bedenkliche Art des betreiebn der Ring für nicht profesionelle Nutzern

It seems to be a very rare occasions when a bmw does not drift around a corner

No one is taking a wet line :( everyone seems to use the dry line but slower. I'd love to see the wet line in action!
Expound. I’ve never heard of a wet line.
@@jesselee8963 the rubber from the tires driving on a road/track surface will fill in the minute gaps and cracks in the bitumen. It's like, imagine if you're driving along, very small chunks of rubber will come off your tires, that are equivalent in size to a grain of sand. These chunks of tire will fill in the gaps in the tarmac bitumen.
Now, if the road or track surface is completely flat with no gaps, the rain water sits on top and doesn't sink into the tarmac. The result is that it's more slippery.
Plus, that's without even mentioning that wet rubber does not grip wet rubber. Imagine anything rubber and wet, it's usually quite slippery. Wet a pencil eraser and slide it along another pencil eraser, for example.
@@jesselee8963 so, if we understand that this part of the track will be slippery, suddenly you want to stay off of the parts of the track that other cars drive on, where less rubber sits on the racing surface.
This means that there's a different line between the wet line and the dry line.
Now, the problem is, the dry line is still geometrically the best line, but, it has no grip. So, the ideal line is to stay a car width off of the dry line, so that your corner is still not sharp (imagine doing the total opposite of the ideal dry line, it makes the corners really sharp!!) while still offering good grip.
I wish I had footage on my main channel (Falcon Autosport) of the full race I just did on April 27th, instead of just the dry weather segment. We had a shed-built 160 bhp Civic EP3 beating a bunch of purpose built race cars, second fastest on track despite having the least power, because we were experimenting with the racing lines. I overtook a Porsche Cayman GT4 race car. Wet lines are amazing!

I have 260 racing driver friends by my estimates and not one has ever said that there is no wet line. There are variations, sure, but we always teach the same thing.

Boah, das ist mies, wenn man auf den Nürnburg Ring will, und hat dann so ein Pisswetter - also dafür braucht man den Ring nicht, das kann man auch bei sportlicher Fahrweise auf der Straße machen - eigentlich will man ja mal so richtig schnell fahren.
