A) What is your favourite moment and B) Who was the most lucky driver? -- Two drivers went shopping for a new mirror and one for a new tire, the others probably went shopping for new pants.
Depends how we look at it. 70s live axle car with no systems would break loose at very low speeds. If a driver defeats combination of modern suspension, tires and stability control, outside racing track the results are fatal.
There are videos of nurburgring crashes from like the 60s-70s. Almost every one of them rolled over after losing traction. Modern suspension does a lot more than people realize. Not only that but a lot of the people drove convertibles and got thrown out and got lucky
@@gordocarbo Before there were the nannies, there were decades of people driving very safely without them. The car designs were different, they were comparatively slow, but safe. Then there were cars like the Smart, Mercedes A-Class etc. which simply were unsafe. The Smart much more so than the A-Class, there was the report about a company in the Sauerland region that had bought 9 Smarts as company cars in 1998 and on the first day of snow in the following winter, 8 of them had crashed. Then there was a decent nanny programmed and the Smarts became usable. In most cases, it´s the car that needs the nanny to save its bacon. There are such drivers, too, though. And did you count how many of the cars in the Ring videos that go with the wrong bit of the car pointing forward have nannies built in? Oh like you would be entirely cool as a cucumber if your brand new Mustang lost its wheel. You're still stranded by the ring with your nice car while you have to wait to get it towed for a stupidly inflated price and then it has to spend weeks at a shop waiting for parts. Let's assume you have a car and now I'm taking your car for 2 weeks how would you feel? You'd be a bit pissed off? Well you shouldn't be owning a car!
You can only do that in online racing unfortunately. All the refuge areas and bevelled barriers would suddenly become big metal blades if you come at them from the wrong direction. Lose it at the wrong place and you'd go into the refuge and through the marshal's post. Wouldn't make you popular.
I don't think these guys are reducing their speed during manuverse just to show one another that they are able to survive manuverse at high speeds without skidding or crashing to a fence..i mean this is what this race is about..correct me if i am wrong
Looks like the BMWs struggle most as a group. Cheap/wrong tires? Cheap/worn brakes? Knucklehead drivers? All of the above. Looks like small, inexpensive front drive cars might be more forgiving for the novice, at least on this piece of road.
Touch the brakes to bring the front of the car down, turn in and feed the power in over the crest; you need to be under power through this corner or it spits you off to the right

The GR Yaris driver, one lucky SOB.
If it was not for modern electronic stability systems, a lot of these would have been much worse. They should be thankful for it.

Agree, thats some hair raising stuff at those speeds!
Props to the guys who saved it with those real short wheelbase cars.
It’s skill, that’s why they drive on the Ring.
You can see the cars get unweighted as they come over that rise before the turn, thus losing grip.
🇸🇪🙂👋👋
@@bburnsey Wrong entry into the turn and youre fked, theres only one good highspeed line in that turn

Dude with the mustang. Man, if you are taking your car to the track, be prepared with the funds to replace it in full, otherwise don't.

If I didn’t track my car because I don’t have the money to “replace it in full” I’d have 0 track experience.

Not really. Just drive at 8 or 9 10ths when on track and especially at the Nürburgring - that’s what I do

One day out of the month say every second Sunday they should do a reverse track run

Good drivers BRAKE whereas bad drivers BREAK.
