We started playing and he was confident that he would beat me easily. 5 wins (for me) and one "drowning mirror force" later he left the classroom screaming. I was challenged by 3 kids in an arcade to a race. We played on the Wangan Midnight arcade machine and picked our cars. They all picked the fastest cars, Lambo, Ferrari etc. I picked the AE86 and they all laughed saying: "Oh that's an old car", " That's a slow car". Little did they know, I had a membership card and the 86 upgraded to the max. The race starts, and I purposefully set myself to last place and watched their every move. They were focused on the race and one of them looked at my screen and was shocked that I was still behind them. He then told his buddies to look behind them and sure enough, they were shocked that I was still behind. Fast forward to the end, I was still behind and they were focused on the race. The last 1KM appeared on the screen and as soon as I saw an opening, I hit the gas and blew right past them. They were trying desperately to catch up to me but I was so far ahead. I crossed the finish line and the 3 of them asked me how an old car can catch up to new cars. I simply said that I'm a pro at this game and walked away like nothing happened.
This happened 2 years ago and still gives me a smile when I think about it.

I'm an avid gamer, though unless I am talking to another gamer it isn't something I talk about much. I adored the combat in the Batman Arkham games and got to the point where I was pretty much untouchable. I went over to a friend's house and he'd gotten it recently and was bragging about his score on the challenge mode. Cut to fifteen minutes later and I've obliterated his score and am still going. There is a group of people watching at this point. I remember someone saying that I was just lucky and button mashing, then someone else says to look at my hands and that everything I'm doing is on purpose. I spent the rest of the night coaching my friends on how to play. Probably the greatest moment I've had as a gamer.

My major was creative weighting for 3 years, I was taking a small class I needed to graduate. I sat next to this guy who was typing slowly on his laptop. I asked his what he was doing, trying to make pleasant conversation, and he glared at me saying ‘IM writing a novel, you wouldn’t understand’. I’m not the cleverest seeming person when it comes to my speech patterns and clothing choices. I have a slouch and generally seem laid back from what I’ve heard.
This guy had written 2 pages and made many basic writing mistakes. I asked if I could read it and he said ‘This is too advanced for basic people.’
He proceeds to start talking about story structure and how he should be in higher classes than the one he was in. So what do I do? The milky way was not visible there and when I purchased a good telescope in 1985 and finally went to a dark sky area, I almost didn't recognize the sky because of the hundreds of new visible stars. In the summertime when you look toward Sagittarius, you are gazing toward the center of the Galaxy. In the winter, as you look at the milky way, it it quite a bit less dense as you look toward Orion, you are looking toward the Galaxy's outer regions. Im definitely rusty because I haven’t played competitively since then but I still have a lot of the chess knowledge I had obtained from studying it so much. I have only been beaten by one person at my current school and I blame it on me being sleep deprived lol, but we’re pretty equal in skill and I’ve beaten him almost an equal amount of times as he’s beaten me

In seventh grade my Social Studies teacher (Best and funniest teacher ever) challenged us to grab a sheet of paper and name every bird we know as a sort of mini lesson on how high we set the bar for ourselves, when we tell ourselves it’s a good time to quit. I’d like you to take a look at my name. Oh, yes. Paper on desk, pencil in hand, evil smile on face, and I wrote every single fricking bird I knew (in super tiny handwriting). When the time was up, the teacher took a look around the room at how far people went. Most people wrote down five names and stopped, a couple of the more ambitious wrote around 23, and when he got to my desk... full stop. Entire page, crammed with names, every space filled. Even after the exercise had ended I kept going.
And through all this I forgot the simple chicken 🤦🏼‍♀️

I have no real formal training in it, just years of experience and being open to learning from others and seeking out answers to the gaps... but I have done sewing all my life, I could not name many stitches but I know where to use them, follow patterns and even make my own. I know how to work with all materials only by seeing them, I can use both a machine and hand stitching, I also do embroidery and specialise in recreating period clothing, tatting crocheting and knitting, I have had situations where people educated in the field have looked me up and down in a condescending, judging way when they find out I have no formal training or certifications, then months or years later they come to me for advice on how they would execute something brought to them that they don't know how to work with, as everyone else that they have gone to have suggested me for the more complicated things or "outdated" techniques. Working in my own field amongst schooled people who spent $1000s to get that knowledge and their printed paper with a wax stamp, I have come to the conclusion that there is a difference in "knowing" and "showing". I love it when people tell me the ONE way that something should be done only to then show them the other 20 different ways to get the same result or better and sometimes in half the time but at the same time i learn things from them where i can as well, after all "a wise man, is one knows what he does not know"

Travelling on vacation and came upon a serious car accident that happened just a few minutes before I arrived. The driver had serious life threatening injuries after being ejected from his car in a roll over crash. I always carry a fairly well equipped first aid kit in my car so I had my wife grab the kit from the trunk while I went to the victim. While checking the victims injuries and clearing his airway, a guy came up and tried to push me out of the way saying, "Out of my way! I have first aid training". I said, "I've been a Paramedic for over 20 years. You can help me or get out of my way" He apologized and we stayed, providing care, keeping the man alive until the ambulance crew arrived and took over care. I took an engineering degree & one of the classes during freshman year was basic programming. We were all split to groups in pairs & assigned simple tasks (like "Hello World!") with each computer in lab. As our IDE was DevPascal back then, every code you run & execute will store a file in the local comp
Now majority of my classmates were lost, but I've always been interested & often dabbled with tech stuffs thus was able to catch up right away. My partner & I executed the tasks perfectly when the lab instructor suddenly showed up behind us, told us to move to another computer, deleted all past code files in local drive, then told us we can resume using the old computer before walking away. My lab partner who was watching everything realized he might've thought we were plagiarizing someone else's codes. We were furious as we have been doing everything ourselves from scratch, but it's not something we can bring up casually, so we kept silent & let it pass
Next class, I was teaching my partner on a newly assigned task before the same lab instructor showed up again & split us apart, telling me to sit somewhere far back in the lab. I was confused so when he walked past I asked why did he do that, he reply: "you were both too noisy". Flabbergasted I told him I was teaching my friend but without trying to understand nor any apology he just said "nevermind that now" & continued walking away
Following class, dude decided to show codes on the big screen & required the class to answer the output of each set of codes. The first few questions were easy, until came a trap question. First person tried answering & got it wrong, same went for the second & third person. I could see a grin spreading across that dude's face as he leaned back against the wall with his arms crossed, shouting "wrong" gleefully each time. Then I raised my hands & answered, "it's a loop". His smug grin disappeared almost immediately, asked "...what? Again?" I repeated my answer, to which he looked really displeased & said, "yes correct, it's a loop"
Dude never messed with me ever again. Also during attendance taking period by end of each class he would usually shout students' names that are displayed on big screen, students will raise their hands & he would mark our names as present, but somehow ever since then dude would mark my attendance without having to shout my name lol

A little later that year, we challenged each other to draw something the other person liked. He had to draw a dragon for me, and I had to draw an anime girl for him (I am weird, but I hate anime. Sue me.) I had never drawn one before. He drew a snake with wings. I went all out. Fast forward to as I am writing this, my transformers have insanely improved to the point where individual gears, cogs, wires, and pistons are all picked out. I even redrew my stealth bomber knight (now named phantom) with ridiculous detail. About halfway through the school year, and their is a Latin project where we had to draw our own made up gods. My fellow classmates begin comparing their drawings on the day the project is due. One comes up to me and says, “You better not have drawn the next Mona Lisa.” A few moments later, he is walking away saying, “Ok, ...insert my name here..., you drew the next Mona Lisa.” Next, one of my new friends came over and his immediate reaction was, “Holy crap!” I love being able to draw.

One time I was playing pong at the ping pong club and I was beating everyone I went up against. Then when facing one of the players he slammed the ping pong ball on my side of the table. I actually managed to return it despite the ball moving so fast. He had his arms up in the air celebrating and then I informed him that I return his shot and it was my point. He didn't believe me. Then I convinced him because the ping pong ball was on his side of the room.

People always say I’m mean-looking, and I’m naturally quiet, so most don’t converse with me. I see a guy flexing his biceps and challenging people to arm wrestle. He comes over to my desk and plants his elbow on my textbook, so I oblige him. While he’s nursing his hand he tries to say I cheated: so I took off my baggy hoodie, flexed, and smiled.

Don't know if I can say I'm much of an expert at it currently, but I am really passionate about basketball and really want to pursue it as my career (and I do have other plans as well). 2 years ago, I was putting in a lot of work going into my senior year and I was improving fast with the help of a few friends who saw my weaknesses. My history with high school basketball is that a lot of people thought I couldn't even play. I was one of those funny guys that people didn't take seriously. I tried out for the team and didn't make it, but somehow the Coach allowed the players to 1v1 a player who already made the team. I saw this one dude who didn't even come to tryouts. He was pretty known as a decent basketball player meanwhile, no one thought I was good at all except for my friends who know how I actually played. People placed their bets and if I won, I took his spot. I was 5'8 130 lbs, he was 6'1 150 lbs. So obviously I had to beat him with skill and not strength. He was talkin' shit too before the game started. There was a 10 minute timer. I beat him 10-3 and yes, we went by 1 point even if it was a 3 point I shot. Coach didn't think I could win either, he looked mad pissed when I won actually. And almost everyone was in shock as well.

When I first started dating my bf, we went to his hunting club to camp w his hunting buddies. They were all shooting their shot guns at paper plate targets set up about 50 yards away. They were hooting n hollering and finally one asked if I wanted to try. Now, ive been using my own 870 12g pump since I was big enough to hold it, so I said ok, without telling them my experience. They all were laughing and nudging each other while watching my bf explain the shot gun to me. They must have thought It would be like one of those funny videos online where the girl gets knocked w the recoil. So I stayed silent. They all moved away as I acted unsure. I made a few innocent comments on how to shoot it and they ate it up. Finally, I was like ok , here we go and stuck the stock deep in my shoulder. I then let out a breath and continuously pump and squeeze. 5 shots. 5 targets. Nailed em. After the final shell I then expelled it and tossed the 12g to my bf and stated, " oh yeah, I got my own pump at home" . The looks on their faces. ( priceless) After a few moments of silence my bfs cuz say, "dude, ur girl can shoot..."
    Yup. Pew pew muda fukas.

    Train guy here.
A kid came up to me while I was watching trains one day and started talking to me about how EMD makes the best locomotives ever and that General Electric makes useless garbage. I shook my head and told him that no engine with 4,000 horsepower should have only 107,000 lbs of tractive effort and had no business being on the main line pulling 20,000 ton trains. The kid exclaimed that there was no way I could possibly know that and that I didn’t know anything about trains.
Now, I was standing there wearing cargo shorts, sandals, and a meme t-shirt with no radio scanner and no camera or tripod. I looked for the world like a casual passerby and not someone there to watch trains. I turned to him and revealed that I’m an FRA Certified Freight Conductor for the railroad whose trains we were watching and was on one of my Federally-mandated two off days after taking my sixth consecutive trip.
Needless to say he was speechless. I further told him that the line we were at was the route I travel on a regular basis and worked the train that had just passed (a loaded auto train) on a regular basis as well. I grilled him on basic rules and Conductor procedures for a bit, too, and I imagine that humbled him nearly as much as learning what I did for a living.

I used to be a dancer. It was the ONE THING I was ever really good at.
Some "Chad" walks up to me one night at a club I was at like 4 nights a week, and challenged me to dance.
It was right when I got there, and early on in the night, so the DJ was still warming up for when more people showed up.
I'm assuming the guy went to the bathroom, or something, because he wasn't around for a bit. One of the group he was with came up to me and said they had seen me dance at a few different clubs, and had been talking about "the dancer" to their friend on the way there. They told me not to let him see how good I was, because he couldn't really "dance." He literally knew ONE MOVE that even a small child could do, and that he was always acting like he was "the sh*t" when they went out, because he knew this move. It was basically the crip walk.
About 2hrs later I was on the dance floor talking to the DJ, and dude comes up to me, and had the balls to say, "You ready to get served?" Sh*t was cringe af.
I asked the DJ to play "Yeah!" by Usher, and I let him go first. His "crip walk" was about as cringe as his "get served" line.
He finished "dancing," and all his friends were right there at the inner part of the circle.
I absolutely destroyed the man. Not only did I do the actual dance from 'Yeah!', but freestyled for a bit afterward.
I moonwalked back to my side, and stood there waiting for him to "dance" again. Instead of just admitting defeat, he did his garbage crip walk again. He got booed by EVERYONE that wasn't laughing hysterically at him.
After the song, he came up to me and said, "Well, I have a job, so I don't have to time to practice as much as you do."
My response? "I have a job, too. Aside from being a paid dancer, I teach dance classes, and choreography. When I'm not doing that I'm giving idiots in clubs lessons for free."
