Troy is a 2004 American epic historical war film directed by Wolfgang Petersen and written by David Benioff. Produced by units in Malta, Mexico and Britain's Shepperton Studios, the film features an ensemble cast led by Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, and Orlando Bloom. It is loosely based on Homer's Iliad in its narration of the entire story of the decade-long Trojan War-condensed into little more than a couple of weeks, rather than just the quarrel between Achilles and Agamemnon in the ninth year. Achilles leads his Myrmidons along with the rest of the Greek army invading the historical city of Troy, defended by Hector's Trojan army. The end of the film (the sack of Troy) is not taken from the Iliad, but rather from Quintus Smyrnaeus's Posthomerica as the Iliad concludes with Hector's death and funeral.

Idk why the directors cut changed the music. The background music for this scene is perfect here and adds perfectly to the emotion and intensity of the fight
I agree, the first thing I noticed when I made the mistake of buying the movie online was the ruined soundtrack. The original is incredible imo. The top 5 movie scores of all time
Agreed this music is 100 times better
The directors cut has so many dumb changes. It sucks you can't find that version.
Hector knew very well that he was walking into his grave, at least he wasn't a coward like his brother.
Exactly. He knew no one walked away alive after being in a fight with achilles and still fought anyway. That's bravery, courage, and honour
Did you notice 3:11? The same wound inflicted on paris by menelao but hector still fought through the pain. It didnt stop him
Honestly the best choreographed fight in movie history. The way they give Achilles that GOAT fighting style whilst also keeping it evenly matched is genius. Its also rare in movie sword fights where it looks like they're genuinely trying to kill each other rather than just swinging their swords into positions
I was just thinking the same thing. I can't think of a single better sword fight in all the movies I've seen, and I've seen a ton.
@@slayerhuh404 watch The Duellists
The dialogue is corny but the fighting is dope.
Wow you did it! 4k cut with the og music! Thank you so much, this was harder to find then it should have been on here.
The sound-fx in this movie are top notch. From the heavy sound of the shields, swords & spears to the giant door closing. Just amazing. Would’ve loved to experience it in a theater with good sound system.
For Hector, it was a fight for his life. For achilles it was a tuesday afternoon
Idk ab that even though Achilles didn’t struggle to win no one else depicted in the film and Likely his whole life was able to last this long and this skillfully against Achilles
@@Izzyspeeds It's true. Every other opponent Achilles faced in the movie he defeated in one or two strikes. Hector on the other hand not only lasted long enough that Achilles was beginning to sweat by the end of the fight but he even made Achilles go on the defensive a number of times.
boagrius was a tuesday afternoon. achilles admitted that hector was his toughest fight ever.
@@Izzyspeeds Facts. In the Illiad, both Achilles and Hector were written as the prime warriors for both sides. The only difference is that Achilles was a son of Zeus and had impenetrable skin. lol.
James Horner much better fit than whatever the director put on his version
Is Danny Elfman's Planet Of The Apes soundtrack.
*i like how aquilles shows in this fight all his signature moves he previously used in the film.*
Hector's move at 2:08 would have killed anyone else, in fact he cut the throat of Patroclus in a similar way.
"You will wander the Underworld blind, deaf and dumb, and all the dead will know; this is Hector, the fool who thought he killed Achilles."
So good. Almost as good as "You sack of wine!"
One of the last modern fight scenes I’ve watched that appreciated musicality in choreography - the sound of blows should be percussive and have tonality and rhythm to them that carry you through the action and put you on pace with the performers, like watching dance - you really feel that during their first sword parry that ends with the standing lunge at Hector’s shield - that whole exchange was punctuated perfectly with that last strike and the whole fight has qualities of a great composition - overture to crescendo - and that just isn’t the case so much for fight choreography anymore - Jackie Chan understood that, you watch his stuff again and you tell me he wasn’t thinking like a musician when he staged his fights
@Goldfish this is perfection with the real audio. Thanks!
I feel like the actors did most of the choreography here. But at achilles jump attack move at the 2:30 mark, if you pause and go frame by frame you can see then used a stunt double. I wonder why considering Brad Pitt seems like he could be more than capable of pulling off that move. Maybe they were afraid it could tear his acl or something since it his most explosive move
Lot of skipping on this, it didn't render properly
En efecto, es cine.
Is there any way for anyone to improve the quality of the entire film and post it somewhere?
The score in this scene is really great. It is purposefully subtle, allowing the sound of the conflict to engulf you. When Hector is struck down the score becomes somber and mournful. The vocalizations rise as Achilles drags Hector’s corpse behind him. Achilles is no hero in this scene, and there is no honor in Hector’s desecration. This excellent score has been replaced in the more modern releases by a more video game-sounding theme. It really caught me off-guard. The somber theme is replaced by something that sounds inspired by Laurence of Arabia. It’s oddly victorious. The original score perfectly compliments this scene while the new score stands in stark contrast to the events on the screen.
Some bits are cut. What is this?
I said the same thing. Shame, the quality looks good too.
Thia is only the fight, the cut parts are when show Priamus and his family
What are you on about? The sequence is about their fight and parts of the fight are missing.
It's better than Dunes Feyd Rautha vs Paul. not saying bad things about Dune, but this is masterful choreography :)
Wonderful work 👏
I love this movie
Superior soundtrack. Fucking tension and danger in audio form.
it was not like this Mithology teaches us They ran 3 rounda with all armor around the whole city of Troy Achilles was chasing Hector like an eagle after his prey.
Mediocre film but this might be the best sword / spear fight in any movie.
Colors in Director's cut are fantastic but the music ruins it all.
I was actually there to witness this in real life, absolutely heartbreaking
i was there too on the castle.....
Original music but unfortunately still edited by some idiot. Multiple reaction shots from the spectators on the walls are missing here, makes the sloppy cuts very jarring.
Self entitled much? Upload your own edit or stop complaining like a child 😂
