Minor point, chewing gum isn't illegal. You just cannot buy it locally, except for dental gum. You can bring it in from overseas for personal consumption. Thanks for a great video about Singapore! I often say, this country is 15 minutes into the future. :)
Sales of chewing gum is actually what is illegal. Edit : ICA can still confiscate/dispose your bubble gum if found in large quantities or when found during random checks at custom regardless of amount.
Note that the minibar isn't always free, even in the suites. There are sensors in the fridge to know when an item has been taken and it's auto charged to the room. Even if you're just picking it up to look at the packet, it gets charged :(
Gardens by the bay is a huge bucket list item for me! Nice to know that there's some other budget options in Singapore besides that insanely expensive hotel even though it looks stunning!
Really enjoyed the video and enjoying the channel. My first job when I graduated from University (College) was in Singapore and was a great experience to have. Taking my wife and kids back there in a few months for a family holiday and cannot wait to try the food again - so many other places to find great food there. Thanks for the video!!
My friends just booked a normal room at MBS and for some reason they upgraded them to a Merlion suite which is almost 400 square meters with gym and massage room. They are just two regular guys so it just shows that it can happen! I miss Singapore as I lived there for 10 years so this video made me rather nostalgic
Hey mate we are at the same boat. Lived and worked at Singapore for 10 years before i moved to Land down Under. Now after almost 10 years again (exact 9) I will become a tourist in Singapore with my family for a few days. Looking forward once again to step at my considered second home Singapore.
Welcome to Singapore and thanks for visiting Singapore. This was not your first trip to Singapore. I appreciate you guys sharing your positive views about Singapore. You guys had an option to stay in a much inexpensive hotel, however you guys paid much more to have a experience to stay a day at marina bay sands. As a proud Singaporean myself i am glad that you guys explaining about the cleanliness in Singapore and the safety in Singapore. I also loved you guys enjoying our local food at our hawker centres. There are more hawker centres at our heartlands where you would be able to find more inexpensive food options where we locals dine. Maybe for your next travel to Singapore, it would be in your bucket list. Thanks again for your awesome vlog. I am looking forward for more vlogs from you guys. Cheers and Happy New Year wishes to you guys !!!
As a Singaporean, I would rather live in Malaysia. Travel in kelantan or terengganu are amazing. Nice and cheap foods as well. Just like my travel vlog. There are alot of insane and beautiful beaches.

ive been to singapore on my trip around the world and i LOVED the city so much.. god damn. we luckily went there on national day rehearsal and YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY check out when this day is. it was one of the best days in my entire life. it was so so COOL !!
I shoot travel stock photography and commercial /editorial images. That green mesh fabric that covers some of the room exteriors of MBS seems to be the rooms that are under renovation or renewal. It really kills photos of the MBS! I've visited Singapore so often that I can now walk around like a local with good local knowledge of which road leads where... and if your time in Singapore is limited, you should mainly focus on the Marina Bay precinct which is also near the Gardens By The Bay (botanic gardens) and the immensely popular Merlion precinct. There's also the Esplanade precinct (the concert venue precinct) on the other side of Marina Bay, away from MBS, near Raflles Avenue.
Yes, you can't swim in the Marina Bay Sands infinity pool if you're not a guest, but you CAN visit the two rooftop bars at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and one of them is situated directly beside the infinity pool. It's a top spot for a sunset or evening drink. They are some of the best bars in the world, but they're not cheap - expect to pay around $20 USD for a beer. (It was $22 Singapore dollars for a beer last time I was there, which was a year or two ago. For me, that's around $26 Australian dollars.)
Not cheap but for me it’s a lot more palatable than paying $1000-$1500 per night just to get the same view from the pool. For me MBS is great for people who aren’t really interested in getting the proper cultural experience and just want to spent most of the day in the hotel which is fine but I prefer staying around Chinatown, Bugis or Orchard Rd where you have so many more things that are within a 5-10min walk
@@joshf-w9602 I usually stay around South Bridge Road, which is near the Singapore River and the Bugis Bridge. (On the south side of the Bugis Bridge it is called South Bridge Road, and on the north side of the bridge it is called North Bridge Road, which leads up to the 'Raffles Complex' shopping centre, which is _not_ the same as Raffles Hotel.) This area around the Bugis Bridge is right beside the Boat Quay (bars and restaurants) and the Parliament building. I love Singapore!
I love Singapore and have been visiting since the late 1980s! The Marina Bay Sands Hotel is a big part of the city's appeal these days. So is the Marina Bay waterway itself.
Hi Brett! I saw you filming at the Jewel and said hi to you on the escalator. Super cool to see you - it felt like seeing a celebrity! Love watching your videos, you inspired me to travel around Southeast Asia
I LOVE SINGAPORE!!! I've only been there once. I didn't stay at this hotel, but I did take the elevator up to a lounge fairly high up in the hotel, a lounge that anyone can go to even if you're not staying there, and I enjoyed a glass of wine while I overlooked the water and the city. BEAUTIFUL! It is my dream to stay there for either a night or a whole weekend, as you did. Thank you for making this video.
We all know the experience wouldn't have been complete without the fruity umbrella ☔ drink at the infinity pool. That was definitely a must. Great catch of the light show. It looked magical. The skyline was absolutely stunning. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful city with us. Can't wait for the next installment of of your travel journeys. I always look forward to seeing what you discover.😎
You should go to the hot pool in the gym locker room with sauna and a steam room too. Helps with aching muscles. Glad you came back to tick your MBS bucketlist. I was at MBS on staycation for 2 nights from Monday till Wednesday. You can always request for more juices, soft drinks and snacks. I stayed there on my own and called up the room service for additional 6 bottles of OJ but I did tip the chamber maid :) Btw, since you are from the Big Apple, go try Urban Hawker in Manhattan. It's the one and only authentic Singapore food and have great reviews. Go do review there :)

That room is usually SGD900+ although I paid half the price on both my stays. I suppose bkg fr US, the price hiked. Not sure if someone alrdy commented but that room is on the club floor so meals like breakfast, high tea, evening cocktails and canapés are all included on top of free hot/cold beverages all day long so we dint spend any money separately for food whatsoever 😊 And the food is top notch!

The room you stayed is still an old room. MBS has a newly renovated room that feels more luxury and worth that 1000$ price. I was lucky to get that room when I stayed there last week.
Such an iconic hotel! We'd find it hard to part with $1000 for a one night stay, but it certainly looks amazing. We were in Singapore last year and loved visiting the Hawker markets. The food in Singapore is soooo delicious! 😋
I think there's nothing wrong with taking those free small hygiene kits, coffee, slippers, teas, etc. as long as they are meant to be replaced. I've read a comment of a hotel staff and he said that those stuff are being replaced the moment you checked out the room. So it's less hassle for them if you take home those stuff because it much easier for them to put new ones.
