    A while back a subscriber reached out to me and suggested this video topic, my top 10 favorite dirt bikes (in order) that I have owned or tested. I’m always looking for awesome content that I can put out, so this was a winner. After looking back at the list of the 23 different dirt bikes that I have either owned, or put significant amounts of testing into, I came up with this list. You will notice that two of the bikes on this top ten list were bikes that were loaned to me; the Beta 300RR and the Husqvarna TE250i. All the other bikes were bikes that I paid for out of my pocket.
    Here is the list in order:
    Most fun/enjoyment all around
    1 - 2017/18 KTM 250XC and 300 XC (it’s a tie)
    2 - 2018 Husqvarna TE250i (and KTM 250 XC-W TPI)
    3 - 2017 Yamaha YZ250X
    4 - 2015 KTM 300 XC
    5 - 2012 KTM 300 XC-W
    6 - 2017 Sherco 300 SEF-R
    7 - 2016 KTM 250 XC-F
    8 - 2015 Yamaha YZ250FX
    9 - 2017 Beta 300 RR
    10 - 2017 KTM 150 XC-W
    Every bike on this list is incredible in it’s own light. With very few exceptions, I’d be happy to ride those bikes as my primary bike for an entire year. They are that good.
    Special thanks to my $10/month patrons on / dirtbikechannel
    Jim Bass, Garrett Wastlund, Matt, Chris Abel, David Adams, Blair Butler, Brian Falcon, Seth Green, Terence Seymore, Sean Williams, Ryan Woodley, Flo Motorsports, Nate Winget, Steven Brady, Travis Winston, Chad Cooper, Mitchell Forrest, Mark Fleischman, Dion Jaramillo, Ken Paulino, Paul Warner

    Interesting,
    I figured the Sherco 300ser would've topped the beta based on yours and Sam's review of them. I think your opinion would've been stronger for the Beta had they sent you a race edition. We know they didn't have one available. I also think Beta would be wise to hook you up with a 19 250 or 300 race edition and maybe a 390 race. ARE YOU READING THIS BETA??? TIM??

A lot of people get started there or that's all they are looking for. May not be enough differences among the bikes to matter, but good for some views none the less. Unfortunately KTM also passes all those R&D costs onto the consumer with a $10,000 price tag on a new bike where as something like the yz250x is $7500. KTM's are pretty awesome though and keeping the 2-stroke alive and well.

      Enduro Pik I've been looking into the yz pretty heavily and from everyone I talk to they still have a top notch suspension and frame on them. If they added a few more goodies from the factory like a skid plate, hand guards, and electric start option and lowered first gear and could keep the price between 7500-8500 I bet they would out sell it.
      Yamaha seems to be one of the few manufacturers actually trying new and innovative things, on their 4 strokes anyways. I've never been much of a Yamaha fan before but the more I look into them the more I like them

      Dirt Bike Channel if you get a chance to test the 2018 gasgas 300 that would be something. I’m excited about the changes they have made since 2017, especially with the addition of kyb suspension.

    • @Nuno.Alcaide
      @Nuno.Alcaide 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the knee is really a bad injury. Hope you have a good recovery. A strong physiotherapy is important.
      I`ve been wearing knee braces (Asterisk) for more than 10 years, can`t ride without them, and never had an knee issue, I think is a (really expensive but) good (and worth it) investment.
      About the bikes, I understand why you ride and prefer mostly KTMs (besides them being so good, all the other reasons like dealers or getting parts easier), but I think you should give a chance to other brands instead of (mostly) changing from KTM to KTM.
      Because sometimes it`s like changing from a bike to an equal bike (with some minor details), what`s the purpose on it?
      Just my personal opinion, I`m not any brand`s addict, don`t know if anyone else thinks like me, but I really don`t see the point of being it (besides getting bikes for free or being paid to ride with a brand).
      Besides this mine mere opinion, just get better and keep up with the good reviews. :)

    Test the beta RR 350 EFI. I'm from the netherlands and I do a lot off riding in france close to where te ISDE was ridin. I have had a couple of 300cc two strokes the last one was a husaberg TE300 so basicly it's a ktm exc 300 or (XC-W) 2012. I wanted to try the newer 350 efi 4 strokes and ended up with the beta rr 350 EFI and I love it! as you say with a sherco 300 sefr it's enough power to do the nasty stuff and it will not suprise you.

    Have you been on the TM 300? In my opinion it offers the best of the Yamaha (KYB/handling) any the KTM (300 motor and bells and whistles). Curious your thoughts on it.
    Have been on the Gas Gas bikes?

    The monster yz450f didn’t make it huh. Loved that bike with the Rekluse and 18” rear. It’s probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite either tied with the yz250x or after. Both fall sort of the ‘18 300 xcw for what I ride nowadays.

    • @hornefoundations
      @hornefoundations 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      16-18...my guess he had probably rode one with a 4cs witch would blow through the stroke and cause the front of the bike to dive and bottom out easy. It also is heavier and not as light as a 300xc two stroke and while the '16 350xc-f is only around 5 pounds heavier than a '16 300xc 2 stroke, the motor weighs more and puts the mass down low witch makes the front tire more planted witch makes it harder to ride through the more technical stuff and, also fourstroke's are harder to keep running/not stall in the more technical...that's why you see most guy's with fourstroke's run recluse clutches.

    • @dustinenduro44
      @dustinenduro44 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      He put the 2016 250 XC-F as his #7 bike tho.... Also, I have had Kreft Suspension on my 350 since I bought it so I don't know how stock 4cs feels. As far as stalling, I put the JD Tuner on mine and it helped a ton in technical stuff. I have no problem lofting the front wheel either.

    • @hornefoundations
      @hornefoundations 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dustin Woodbury Rcs forks are terrible they have no mid valve at all and blow through the stroke. I have heard that the kreft valving helps but, still does'nt work great. I put a pair of '09 300xc closed cartridge forks on mine with one size stiffer springs than stock and they work great. I believe most of the reason the 250xc-f is on his list is because it is/feels alot lighter than the 350 and is easier to ride. And, yes you can loft the front tire on a 350 easy but, a 2 stroke lofts alot easier. A fourstrokes weight is in the engine and down low so, you ca'nt ride through really hard/rocky terrain as easy.

    Hey Kyle, i saw many great bikes but i didn't see the Sherco 300 SE-R (2 stroke) that you had for quite a bit... Didn't you like it? It seems a really solid dirt bike to me, and i would place it right after (or ever among) the KTM and Husqvarna dirt bikes... I had the impression that you would have said the same some months ago, what made you change idea?
    Anyway Great video as usual ;)

    You loved the 250 x because the suspension is superior. I know this because I’ve always ridden Japanese bikes for over a decade until a year ago when I bought a 2017 husky TE 300. The suspension on the TE is garbage compared to what the Japanese bikes come with.

  • @michaelsernst
    @michaelsernst 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interested to hear your take on the husky and Ktm 350s You mention that the sherco 300 is a great mix of weight to power. Do you put the 350s in that category also or is there something holding back the endorsement?
