Because the edited footage that Watts released was through Penny's perspective and of what she saw, then doesn't that imply Watts managed to hack and get access to Penny's memory banks, copy them, and edit them to make it look like she did it? If so, then that means that Watts basically, technically hacked into Penny. So instead of going through all that convoluted trouble, why didn't he just hack Penny directly and have her do the killings herself? It would be undeniable that she killed those people and the heroes would still be lost as to what exactly happened and who is behind everything
They probably do but no one would want any of that. People would do it off as "fake news" and "propaganda" by Ironwood I'd assume. I mean most of us live in a way better society than the people in mantle but still there are millions of people who believe Donald Trump for example hasn't done anything wrong. I'm sure after witnessing a murder scene like that none (or rarely any) of the common people will stop to carefully examine Penny's weapons or wait for an official autopsy. To those people it's crystal clear penny did this and Ironwood is the bad guy now

For this I have a valid interpretation: She cannot not blame Penny. The eyewitnesses think she did it, riots were already sure to happen, and once the mob is raging there's little point in trying to convince it to stop. Robin only has two options: 1) Join Ironwood in an attempt to restore peace quickly, which would mean giving up all of her political goals and siding with an enemy. 2) Join the revolt and try to turn the riots into an organized rebellion in order to reach her goals this way. Since she was already at the brink of raiding Atlas transports, we know that she wouldn't take option 1. And for option 2, proving Pennys innocence would be detrimental.
Penny also said, "Drop your weapon," loud enough to be heard. There was obviously another person who shouldn't have been there and everyone just ignores it. What the hell?!

@Thereo Frin Eddy seems unnecessarily hostile to the fandom. And that's putting it kindly. You mentioned how he didn't listen to the people who had complaints about Weiss and the drunk guy. Then there's also stuff like him calling Celtic Phoenix's video about Castle of Lies garbage because it's filled with hate. Which is wrong on so many levels because: 1. He was just reading the reviews of other people's reviews on her book. 2. He even defended her on some of the choices she made. So either he didn't watch the video or he thinks all criticism is bad. That and he said shipping doesn't influence the show. Which I personally don't believe is true.
I have to admit that occurrence is in line with Penny’s regular behavior, so I must disagree with you there. She just protects. Like when Ruby was about to get hit by a truck, Penny didn’t yell for her to get out of the way, she simply pushed Ruby and stopped the truck herself. Penny does not think about warning people and instead simply about saving them
@@riotkitty this is what bothers me, it seems at the start that every character had their view on what "protecting" means, when someone's in danger Ruby would normally jump to take the person about to get hit out of the way, it seems like Penny's course of action would be dispose of the threat before it hurts anyone innocent, yet at this moment she didn't, her course of action was to take someone out of danger by moving them out of the way, as opposed to what she used to do: take care of the threat, why? well bc if she were to take Scorpio-Boy out then there would be no plot, they made Penny dumb, out of character, and took away her skills for the sake of plot, that annoys me, let best girl be powerful dammit
Well, I would argue with communications being down and say scrolls won't work, but they kept showing them being used throughout the whole time. There's also the issue of faunus oddly enough not even being at the election, but then we don't really KNOW if faunus are allowed to vote in the elections, if the writers even remember the issue of faunus being considered second-class citizens in the world.
The scene is heavily contrived. Hill's voters are arrogant enough to celebrate a victory they haven't yet gained, and have their only security comprised of 4 Huntresses, one of which is the person that could be targeted. They try to push away Marrow for offering to help them with their already light security. Ren and Nora settled a lovers spat instead of doing their job, and Ruby and Penny were goofing off half the time. *And then none of them had a contingency for if one Faunus turned off the lights.*
The light security would make sense if she was the underdog, if Jacques had like 72% in the polls from the start and basically everyone thought she was gonna loose. After all why try to assassinate the loser of an election? But since she was leading, that sort of security it's inexcusable.
The one area I'll disagree with is Hill celebrating, because that kind of stuff has happened before in real life. Doesn't make the decision to do it better, doing it is always dumb, but some people are arrogant enough to celebrate a victory before the results.
I'd say Nora is the true person at fault between her and Ren. He seemed focused, and ready to help, but then she had to force him to talk about something he wasn't ready for, and then tongued him, seriously they are supposed to be guarding the bitch, why would Nora pick then to kiss and distract Ren?
Weiss isn't from Mantle though and Weiss was never poor and helpless unlike Nora. It actually makes sense. Plus Nora kissing Ren has nothing to do with caring about Mantle or anything, especially since I would assume their relationship would have high priority.

How to fix this scene in three simple steps: -Have Tyrian hide on the scaffolding or just generally out of sight instead of inside the crowd. You can even show him sneak in while Marrow argues with the huntresses to drive the point home. -After turning off the lights, have him throw a couple of smoke bombs into the crowd, adding to the panic and further reducing the chances of getting spotted. -Have Watts use his connections or whatnot to steal one of Penny's back-up blades, and fix it onto Tyrian's tail. Then, when the job's done, have him detach the blade while inside that one huntress' guts to complete the framing. There, now the scene makes at least some sense. You are welcome, writers.
No offense but I'm honestly surprised that you didn't bring up the fact that Robin Hill is a known Federal Criminal stealing from the military yet she's able to run for the council. I mean Ironwood has literally stated that he wants her in custody. Shouldn't Clover and all of the other Ace operatives be trying to arrest her?

This isn't even addressing the issue that darkness doesn't make people blind. Yes, things can be more difficult to see, especially if you went from brightly lit to no light instantly, but human eyes will adjust to the lesser light.
Ren - Can only hide people from the Grimm. Marrow - We don't know how good his nightvision is. Maybe he has to see his target to use it. Robyn - "Lemme just take the hand and expose myself to the person that I think just killed a bunch of people and wants to do the same to me." Fiona - Has to touch whatever she uses her semblance on.
At this point, everybody may as well accept the fact that night vision may as well be retconed. Because the writters aren't utilising it. As evident by this scene and others.
@@sybaen5931 The problem with the Robyn bit is that if Penny were the murderer, she would have kept murdering even after the lights turned back on, but she didn't. Also, Tyrian laughed while he was behind Robyn. Plus, Penny and her swords are Christmas ornaments and could definitely be seen in the crowd while Fiona, who was on the stage, got slashed. And, of course, there's the fact that there is not a single drop of blood on Penny's weapons. There was no reason for Robyn to think Penny did anything.
So my overall impression of this scene was that it is the exact opposite of the Vol. 5 finale. Back then the villains were nerfed ridiculously hard and were suddenly brain dead with no explanation all so the good guys could triumph. You had Ruby and Yang stupidly turn their backs to Mercury and Emerald so they could stare at Blake. The fact that Mercury, the assassin who killed his own father didn't put a bullet through the back of their heads is beyond insulting to my boys skills. And since they retconned aura in that volume to be an active skill instead of passive he actually would have murdered them successfully since they let their guard down so they could stare at Blake. On top of that, somehow Ruby, Blake and Weiss defeated Mercury, Emerald and Hazel off-screen even though we just saw Hazel utterly destroy Qrow!!!!!!! In this scene the good guys are the ones to become brain dead and useless just so Tyrian and Watts could pull this off. Ren you literally sensed Tyrian when he was outside the village heading your way back in Vol 4. I really want to see the villains win this volume. Not because of stupid for the sake of the plot, but because they are highly skilled, highly dangerous and highly intelligent foes that these children are simply no match for.
About Ren sensing Tyrian: It's fair to assume that sensing a single person in an abandoned village is a lot easier than doing it in a crowded room in the middle of a big city. You wouldn't notice a specific piece of hay in a haystack.
I loved seeing all the comments on the Twitter saying. I did not see this twist coming. This is just like volume 3. Or like this was heart wrecking I can’t believe it. And I laughed every time. It was so predictable
What I enjoyed this episode was seeing my boy, Tyrian back doing his Tyrian thing. He's just such an entertaining character to me that I just can't hate him.
It's predictable because they just keep repeating V3's setup. Have you noticed that every single volume since 3 has 5 or so episodes where not much happens aside from banter and other character interactions with an unimportant fight or two, followed by getting more serious on the 6th episode, leading up to a big fight at the end? In fact, the last part has been consistent in every single volume. Every volume of RWBY ends with some big fight. Repeating the same thing over and over again has made the show lack any sense of surprise. You know when you see "episode 6" that SOMETHING is going to happen. You know that leading up to the final episode, there's going to be some kind of drama. You know that when the final episode hits, there's going to be some huge fight. Also anyone who says this is equal to V3C6 is straight-up ignorant. V3E6 was so good because everything seemed to be pretty much normal right up until almost the final moment, but there was just enough of a hint that the antagonists MIGHT do something. The way they set up Yang was such a big "what the fuck" that it successfully made the audience feel the same surprise and confusion that the protagonists are shown to be experiencing, which is great, because that creates a connection between the characters and the audience, which makes the scene even more impactful. Even better, nothing in V3C6 played out as it did because of anyone's incompetence or mistakes, it played out as it did because the antagonists were smart and constructed a plan that had no means of going wrong. The protagonists lost before there was any way for them to know there was something to lose. V3 had its flaws too, but it was leagues above this bullshit.
I lost braincells reading comments about a moment earlier in the volume when watts showed up in jaques office, people were legitimately calling the fact that watts, (the tech specialist for salem who was being set up since his first appearance as a villain for the atlas arc) faking his own death just so he can show up in the atlas arc a twist on par with sir arthur conan doyles writing and were even gussing about him being an obvious reference.

William Harmon It's said that most Faunus can see *nearly perfectly* in the dark. Which implies the outliers could just people with *perfect* or *shit* night vision.
Honestly, his hairstyle isn't even bad. The problem is the fact that it's on him. It doesn't fit his personality in any way, shape, or form, and doesn't flow with his design. It also looks really terrible in that color.
After seeing that episode I just cant give RWBY a third chance. The writers I dont even know if they know they are writing bad or not. I'm just here to watch the youtube channel and my source for updates of the show now. See or hope it gets better lol.
I don't tune into the show anymore, but it's always nice to hear what you have to say about current events. Wouldn't call it a regret, but I remember the day I considered dropping it after hearing Monty passed. Unfortunately, Shane Newville's fight choreography in volume 3 was so good, I stuck with it longer than i should have. It isn't a surprise it got this bad, but it's definitely a shame.
It kind of hurts to see that Gillon Gu puts out better fights himself about every two months than the warehouse of RT animators can manage over a period of years.

Not one person use their scroll to see in the dark, because they're to scared/panic to think. Well isn't that convenient. The only time in the show's history where blake being absent from a scene actually made it worse. She's got night vision, she could've just seen Tyrian kill the people, go up to Robyn, be like "Do your semblance thingy," explain what she saw, Robyn sees she's telling the truth, and boom conflict averted.
Plot twist: Nora finally remembered traveling to the real world in RWBY Chibi and realized that everything is prefabricated, then told everyone. This broke their will to such a degree that their minds break and accept their fate treating the writers as Gods. They then did everything the writers told them and willing sacrificed all those innocent people to satify their new god as members of a cult.
Buuuuut Veeeex Ren and Nora kissed!!! And Nora confrimed Bumblebee!!! Why would you care about the plot and the idiotic characters? No one does! All that matters is shipping! Omg, I can't wait for thunderthighs to become canon and Nora Ren and Elm have a threesome! And also omg I hope Robyn and Penny will end up together as well! And don't forget about Weiss x Torchwick's Ghost!

William Harmon Yes, which made it redundant whether or not a few witnesses like Hill saw enough evidence to believe Penny was not guilty because the majority would still believe that Penny was the murderer because it's the simplest conclusion from the majority of the facts.
@@Dave102693 but wouldn't that also mean erasing part of Penny's memory, meaning she would have no recollection of what happened because she wouldn't remember seeing any of those things? And judging from how shaken Penny looked in the scene before she got put on dormant mode or whatever, she remembers, which means it hasn't been deleted, which means that there is cold, hard evidence proving she's innocent still sitting in her memory banks. I'm surprised they didn't try to at least look in there first before making her dormant
This is honestly one of my biggest fears when writing stories. Writing myself in a corner and having characters do things completely idiotic and out of character to get out lol
Well the thing about humans is even tho we can be rational. When in specific situations people don't always react with intelligence immediately. I will say vex criticism is good in this vid. But during a hectic event. Some people would be more concerned with trying to get near the door before they just sit still and turn on their phones. Especially since you can hear people getting attacked right away and panic begins to set in. Thats why in real life weve had people die by getting trampled during a crisis.
@@BlazeWolf9511 That would be easier to swallow if characters were known to be a little unstable or unpredictable, something that needs to be shown on-screen. Depending on viewers to fill in the gaps is bad writing and leads to things like fan canon, which is already so bad in RWBY that the show should be considered a case study.
@@dycedargselderbrother5353 you misunderstand. Being a little unstable has nothing to do with it. I'm talking base human reactions here. Fight, flight freeze. That sorta thing. And I was more so talking about the audience members. From their perspective the lights went out. Nobody could see anything. And very quickly you could hear people getting hurt/potentially dying around you. You cant see. So fighting is out. Most people would try to get near an exist or corner to try and get out of the way before they do anything else. Or back towards a wall to avoid being in the corssfire. And even our regular characters can't really do much. Ruby doesnt have her weapon. In vexes clip when ruby is near the podium and he says what was she doing. It doesn't look like she has her weapon on her. They definetly could use their scrolls for a light. But they are in a situation where a bunch of people are moving around them and freaking out. So even with a bit of a visual. The ensuing chaos could prevent them from handling the situation either way. Penny was the best person to take care of the situation since she has night vision. (Depending on viewers to fill in certain gaps isnt always bad. You dont want to dumb down your story and explain every little thing all the time. That being said rwby has struggled storywise since the start and this is why the story now so much in it that can be seen as flawed. But people could ignore that cause the action was good.)
@@BlazeWolf9511 I do understand. I'm arguing that these characters aren't human and lack aspects of humanity. This world and its inhabitants are alien to the extent that I feel attribution of what you've said is projection. It's up to the writers to ascribe anthropomorphism to these characters, not depend on the audience's assumptions. And I mean the show's audience, not the people in the fictional room. You don't really have the luxury of relying on audience intuition with fantastical fictional worlds. When you do, you get large disconnects like the [non-]importance of turning Qrow and Raven into birds. In the real world this would raise real ethical concerns. In a magical fictional world where everyone is already heavily augmented, who cares? It seems like a petty complaint.
@@dycedargselderbrother5353 They aren't completely alien. Even in fantasy most people and even fictional characters still end up emulating humans in one way or another. Thats why characters normally need to be relatable to the audience for people to like them. Even when we having talking dragons or fictional races they normally still correlate to the real world in some way. Arguing that the characters are so alien that they woudnt act like most people in a situation is a stretch only because up until this point. The characters are still mostly human. And considering even in the show they act in a way that seems pretty believable given the circumstance. (Talking about the people who panicked in the party scene.) The thing I said wasnt even really an audience assumption. I dont have to assume the characters in the crowd are scared when its very obvious that theyre panicking. And freaking out because of all the chaos. It is up to the authors to make the characters in a situation act like actual people but thats pretty much what they did. A chaotic situation happened. And people are left freaking out unsure as to whats happening around them. The use of crow and raven being turned into birds is kind of a weird example to use. Because the reaction in the show. Was the exact opposite of what it probably should have been. In a world where everyone can do super cool things. Turning into birds isn't a big deal. But that's soley because pretty much everyone has some kind of power already. Stuff like that is common already. But that doesnt mean the characters within the story. Especially those who arent huntsmen. Are gonna react any differently then a normal human would when their life is in danger. The only real difference is someone might be more inclined to protect themself if they have an impressive enough ability. But most normies can't even use their aura or semblance. It's mostly used by huntsman. A better example would have been marrow. We know he can somewhat freeze people with his semblance. So why didn't he. The assumption people might make is. Oh maybe he has to see the people in order to do it. With the argument being. Well we dont know that because it was never explained if thats a drawback to his semblance. And since we dont know if that is a drawback. Him not using his power here feels stupid. (If you did mean something else then perhap I misunderstood somewhere along the lines. But my basic gist was. Well since these characters exist within a fictional world its up to the authors to show us how people in this world would react in situations compared to how people would react in the real world. Because since its not the real world they may react differently)
4:33 here’s a dumb moment for the future this scene alone of Marrow stopping multiple targets makes the whole fight between team rwby and The Ace Ops stupid as hell because he could have stopped weiss and her giant knight at once or he could have stopped team rwby when they were lined up before the fight had even begun and they were just talking
There should never be this many plot convenient things in one scene. A number of scenes in movie having several plot conveniences is fine. A few of plot conveniences in a scene is passable. But no scene should hinge upon several factors conveniently playing out in an exact scenario to get one result. We didn't need for no witnesses to see Tyrian, just for the majority of the people to think Penny was the killer. They could have had Marrow, Fiona, and any other Faunus in the audience see Tyrian, but because Tyrian killed all the Faunus that could have seen him that weren't working for Ironwood (Marrow), Hill doesn't have reason to suspect Tyrian because it looks like the killer specifically singled out everyone that could have identified the killer, and everyone claiming to have seen Tyrian are people working for Ironwood. It looks as if Watts and Tyrian factored every threat to their plans, and were prepared to eliminate them in a manner that sets it up so that the only people that can prove what they did are people that the public won't trust.
I've heard that they could just do an autopsy and figure out people were killed with poison as well and Penny doesnt use poison but of course in this show they wont do that they must be ignorant
Well, they were too busy for the kiss of Ren and Nora to do anything smart in this ep I guess. Like a lot of the fandom who only spoke about this damn kiss and didn't even see anything else than THIS KISS. I swear, it's a great way for RT to hide all the dumb things they did : give the fans what they want and then they'll forget all the rest~
What it means is that they think that people who write stories for cartoons don't have to take their jobs seriously and can just write whatever bullshit they want and have people love it, which just goes to show that they have no idea what they're actually doing, and have no respect for animation.

WOW. This whole scene is...AWFUL. This is Game of Thrones Season 8 tier levels of bad. Apart from Ruby's new look, which I really like, it's a shame the writers keep repeating basic mistakes. They need to hire some editors. It's worse when you see they clearly TRIED to devote some attention to security but then did nothing to actually enforce it in the show. They seem to lose track of everyone's established powers all the time, which is another problem when you give your characters too many.
And no one noticed the lack of blood on her or her blades. I can hear fans screaming emotions were high, it was chaotic why she didn't use her semblance.

I'm surprised you missed the fact that this scene is the only time Marrow can stop multiple targets, so that plot things can occur later. Also, he's a faunus and doesn't use his night vision.
It’s funny that all of this literally made little to no difference in the next episode. They basically debunked that Penny attacking was fake almost instantaneously
They also completely skipped over the Grimm attack that happened at the end of the previous episode. It's just like the aircraft getting shot down by a missile in V6. Cliffhanger at the end of an episode that the next episode doesn't even acknowledge at all.

Literally that would give him only 41% votes on his side total. The math doesn't add up. - If hacker man didn't do anything till the black out, that means there was only 1 minute to vote and robin should still have 53% on her side perma. - No one questions Jacque - No one questions ironwood - Robin doesn't search for answers despite having a hit and run group so capable their able to attack dust trucks without issue - Everyone falls in an uproar over something they didn't - Everyone believe penny attacked people -Could probably go on but these are the most glaring reasons
Wait. If they wanted to frame Penny, and later in the vol it's (")revealed(") that Watts was on the team that helped make Penny. If Watts is so powerful when it comes to manipulating Penny's sight, why doesn't Watts just take over Penny and have her kill people? There would be blood on the swords then, and not only would people see the glowing swords slashing at people in the dark, but she'd be center stage when the lights turn on, and (I think) sheep girl would be injured. I say sheep girl instead of Robyn, because if I thought about it, Robyn would just become a martyr and that might've caused more problems for the "plan" Watts and Tyrian have. Plus, there would be actual proof that in some sense, Penny DID technically kill people. It would also, depending on who she asks, throw a big weakness at Robyn's CONVIENT semblance, which is a living lie detector. The weakness being, it might only confirm if someone's telling the truth, it's determined by a person's subjective truth.

Stupid for the Sake of the Plot isn't the only problem with RWBY, there's way too much shipping as well. And don't even get me started on Renora... that ship is unrealistic. This episode made me drop RWBY after being a fan of the show for years.
Ren and Nora is one of the like 2 pairings in this show that's been properly set up and built upon lol. If you mean the way it was utilized in this episode was forced, then i can see where you coming from, even though theyve established some tension between the 2 since arriving in Atlas, i agree that in not really sure why they're adding tension in the first place, at least at this point. They've been chill till now but made Ren randomly more distant

I think this is yet another symptom of the show’s writing being rushed. RWBY is RT’s cash cow, so it seems that Miles and Kerry are pushing the storyboarding and animation teams to pump out RWBY content to meet their weekly deadlines, with little regard for quality and filling plot holes. Of course, ship baiting and identity politics have been corroding the show for a while, as well. I really do think Roosterteeth needs to take a break from releasing RWBY episodes; for at least a year. Their teams need plenty of time to think about what they’re creating to make the show enjoyable again. Try to get the spirit back that Volumes 1-3 had; those were fun times. Not perfect, but fun times
Even if they did a hiatus, there's nothing they can do to salvage this show. V4 railroaded the plot by making it be all about these relics that are in each country, so we already know they have to visit each one and get the relic there before moving onto the next, V5 made Jaune ensure that there's almost no way to kill off any of the protagonists so long as he's around, V6 explained Ozpin, Salem, and the broken moon all in the most uninteresting ways possible and then killed off one of the most capable antagonists in the show after V4 and V5 ruined everything that made him good, and now V7 rendered Penny's "death" scene in V3 meaningless. There's no fixing this.
@@benjaminmcneil574 I feel like the writers took that line to heart a little more than they should have. The part that makes a story with a predictable ending "fun to watch" is the unpredictable journey leading to that ending. In RWBY's case, both the journey and the destination are predictable.

Because this is just getting imbarassing with how badly some scenes are handled. I know that some character Semblances and passive abilities make it hard to have convincing stakes. But this really wasn't one of those moments. And if it's going where I think it's going. It's a little too on the nose too.
Isn't it reported in the next episode that Penny was framed and people just didn't care? The people of Mantle have been mistreated for a long time and are angry with Ironwood and Atlas, so they may be beyond listening to reason and evidence now and just looking for anything to believe in that will make them feel justified in their anger and hatred instead of being rational about things. That sort of thing happens all the time in real life, especially when it comes to politics. Like people who hate or love a certain idea just because they are told a specific politician proposed it until hearing it actually came from a politician they hate because they are more focused on emotion and their bias than actually analyzing what they are being told and if it makes sense.

For this I have a valid interpretation: She cannot not blame Penny. The eyewitnesses think she did it, riots were already sure to happen, and once the mob is raging there's little point in trying to convince it to stop. Robin only has two options: 1) Join Ironwood in an attempt to restore peace quickly, which would mean giving up all of her political goals and siding with an enemy. 2) Join the revolt and try to turn the riots into an organized rebellion in order to reach her goals this way. Since she was already at the brink of raiding Atlas transports, we know that she wouldn't take option 1. And for option 2, proving Pennys innocence would be detrimental.
Penny also said, "Drop your weapon," loud enough to be heard. There was obviously another person who shouldn't have been there and everyone just ignores it. What the hell?!
So I guess hiring an extra two writers really help with the story?

The scene is heavily contrived. Hill's voters are arrogant enough to celebrate a victory they haven't yet gained, and have their only security comprised of 4 Huntresses, one of which is the person that could be targeted. They try to push away Marrow for offering to help them with their already light security. Ren and Nora settled a lovers spat instead of doing their job, and Ruby and Penny were goofing off half the time.

The light security would make sense if she was the underdog, if Jacques had like 72% in the polls from the start and basically everyone thought she was gonna loose. After all why try to assassinate the loser of an election? But since she was leading, that sort of security it's inexcusable.

The one area I'll disagree with is Hill celebrating, because that kind of stuff has happened before in real life. Doesn't make the decision to do it better, doing it is always dumb, but some people are arrogant enough to celebrate a victory before the results.

He seemed focused, and ready to help, but then she had to force him to talk about something he wasn't ready for, and then tongued him, seriously they are supposed to be guarding the bitch, why would Nora pick then to kiss and distract Ren?

How to fix this scene in three simple steps:
-Have Tyrian hide on the scaffolding or just generally out of sight instead of inside the crowd. You can even show him sneak in while Marrow argues with the huntresses to drive the point home.
-After turning off the lights, have him throw a couple of smoke bombs into the crowd, adding to the panic and further reducing the chances of getting spotted.
-Have Watts use his connections or whatnot to steal one of Penny's back-up blades, and fix it onto Tyrian's tail. Then, when the job's done, have him detach the blade while inside that one huntress' guts to complete the framing.
There, now the scene makes at least some sense. You are welcome, writers.

This isn't even addressing the issue that darkness doesn't make people blind. Yes, things can be more difficult to see, especially if you went from brightly lit to no light instantly, but human eyes will adjust to the lesser light.

The problem with the Robyn bit is that if Penny were the murderer, she would have kept murdering even after the lights turned back on, but she didn't. Also, Tyrian laughed while he was behind Robyn. Plus, Penny and her swords are Christmas ornaments and could definitely be seen in the crowd while Fiona, who was on the stage, got slashed. And, of course, there's the fact that there is not a single drop of blood on Penny's weapons. There was no reason for Robyn to think Penny did anything.

So my overall impression of this scene was that it is the exact opposite of the Vol. 5 finale.
Back then the villains were nerfed ridiculously hard and were suddenly brain dead with no explanation all so the good guys could triumph. You had Ruby and Yang stupidly turn their backs to Mercury and Emerald so they could stare at Blake. The fact that Mercury, the assassin who killed his own father didn't put a bullet through the back of their heads is beyond insulting to my boys skills. And since they retconned aura in that volume to be an active skill instead of passive he actually would have murdered them successfully since they let their guard down so they could stare at Blake. On top of that, somehow Ruby, Blake and Weiss defeated Mercury, Emerald and Hazel off-screen even though we just saw Hazel utterly destroy Qrow!!!!!!!
In this scene the good guys are the ones to become brain dead and useless just so Tyrian and Watts could pull this off. Ren you literally sensed Tyrian when he was outside the village heading your way back in Vol 4. I really want to see the villains win this volume. Not because of stupid for the sake of the plot, but because they are highly skilled, highly dangerous and highly intelligent foes that these children are simply no match for.

It's predictable because they just keep repeating V3's setup. Have you noticed that every single volume since 3 has 5 or so episodes where not much happens aside from banter and other character interactions with an unimportant fight or two, followed by getting more serious on the 6th episode, leading up to a big fight at the end? In fact, the last part has been consistent in every single volume. Every volume of RWBY ends with some big fight. Repeating the same thing over and over again has made the show lack any sense of surprise. You know when you see "episode 6" that SOMETHING is going to happen. You know that leading up to the final episode, there's going to be some kind of drama. You know that when the final episode hits, there's going to be some huge fight.
Also anyone who says this is equal to V3C6 is straight-up ignorant. V3E6 was so good because everything seemed to be pretty much normal right up until almost the final moment, but there was just enough of a hint that the antagonists MIGHT do something. The way they set up Yang was such a big "what the fuck" that it successfully made the audience feel the same surprise and confusion that the protagonists are shown to be experiencing, which is great, because that creates a connection between the characters and the audience, which makes the scene even more impactful.
Even better, nothing in V3C6 played out as it did because of anyone's incompetence or mistakes, it played out as it did because the antagonists were smart and constructed a plan that had no means of going wrong. The protagonists lost before there was any way for them to know there was something to lose.
V3 had its flaws too, but it was leagues above this bullshit.
I lost braincells reading comments about a moment earlier in the volume when watts showed up in jaques office, people were legitimately calling the fact that watts, (the tech specialist for salem who was being set up since his first appearance as a villain for the atlas arc) faking his own death just so he can show up in the atlas arc a twist on par with sir arthur conan doyles writing and were even gussing about him being an obvious reference.
So uhhhhhhhh, guessing night-vision wasn't in the security budget. Oh well

Plot twist: Nora finally remembered traveling to the real world in RWBY Chibi and realized that everything is prefabricated, then told everyone. This broke their will to such a degree that their minds break and accept their fate treating the writers as Gods. They then did everything the writers told them and willing sacrificed all those innocent people to satify their new god as members of a cult.

This is honestly one of my biggest fears when writing stories. Writing myself in a corner and having characters do things completely idiotic and out of character to get out lol
Well the thing about humans is even tho we can be rational. When in specific situations people don't always react with intelligence immediately. I will say vex criticism is good in this vid. But during a hectic event. Some people would be more concerned with trying to get near the door before they just sit still and turn on their phones. Especially since you can hear people getting attacked right away and panic begins to set in. Thats why in real life weve had people die by getting trampled during a crisis.

And I was more so talking about the audience members. From their perspective the lights went out. Nobody could see anything. And very quickly you could hear people getting hurt/potentially dying around you. You cant see. So fighting is out. Most people would try to get near an exist or corner to try and get out of the way before they do anything else. Or back towards a wall to avoid being in the corssfire. And even our regular characters can't really do much. Ruby doesnt have her weapon. In vexes clip when ruby is near the podium and he says what was she doing. It doesn't look like she has her weapon on her. They definetly could use their scrolls for a light. But they are in a situation where a bunch of people are moving around them and freaking out. So even with a bit of a visual. The ensuing chaos could prevent them from handling the situation either way. Penny was the best person to take care of the situation since she has night vision.
(Depending on viewers to fill in certain gaps isnt always bad. You dont want to dumb down your story and explain every little thing all the time. That being said rwby has struggled storywise since the start and this is why the story now so much in it that can be seen as flawed. But people could ignore that cause the action was good.)

This world and its inhabitants are alien to the extent that I feel attribution of what you've said is projection. It's up to the writers to ascribe anthropomorphism to these characters, not depend on the audience's assumptions. And I mean the show's audience, not the people in the fictional room. You don't really have the luxury of relying on audience intuition with fantastical fictional worlds. When you do, you get large disconnects like the [non-]importance of turning Qrow and Raven into birds. In the real world this would raise real ethical concerns. In a magical fictional world where everyone is already heavily augmented, who cares? It seems like a petty complaint.
@@dycedargselderbrother5353 They aren't completely alien. Even in fantasy most people and even fictional characters still end up emulating humans in one way or another. Thats why characters normally need to be relatable to the audience for people to like them. Even when we having talking dragons or fictional races they normally still correlate to the real world in some way. Arguing that the characters are so alien that they woudnt act like most people in a situation is a stretch only because up until this point. The characters are still mostly human. And considering even in the show they act in a way that seems pretty believable given the circumstance. (Talking about the people who panicked in the party scene.)
The thing I said wasnt even really an audience assumption. I dont have to assume the characters in the crowd are scared when its very obvious that theyre panicking. And freaking out because of all the chaos. It is up to the authors to make the characters in a situation act like actual people but thats pretty much what they did. A chaotic situation happened. And people are left freaking out unsure as to whats happening around them.
The use of crow and raven being turned into birds is kind of a weird example to use. Because the reaction in the show. Was the exact opposite of what it probably should have been. In a world where everyone can do super cool things. Turning into birds isn't a big deal. But that's soley because pretty much everyone has some kind of power already. Stuff like that is common already. But that doesnt mean the characters within the story. Especially those who arent huntsmen. Are gonna react any differently then a normal human would when their life is in danger. The only real difference is someone might be more inclined to protect themself if they have an impressive enough ability. But most normies can't even use their aura or semblance. It's mostly used by huntsman.
A better example would have been marrow. We know he can somewhat freeze people with his semblance. So why didn't he.
The assumption people might make is. Oh maybe he has to see the people in order to do it. With the argument being. Well we dont know that because it was never explained if thats a drawback to his semblance.
And since we dont know if that is a drawback. Him not using his power here feels stupid.
(If you did mean something else then perhap I misunderstood somewhere along the lines. But my basic gist was. Well since these characters exist within a fictional world its up to the authors to show us how people in this world would react in situations compared to how people would react in the real world. Because since its not the real world they may react differently)
4:33 here’s a dumb moment for the future this scene alone of Marrow stopping multiple targets makes the whole fight between team rwby and The Ace Ops stupid as hell because he could have stopped weiss and her giant knight at once or he could have stopped team rwby when they were lined up before the fight had even begun and they were just talking
There should never be this many plot convenient things in one scene. A number of scenes in movie having several plot conveniences is fine. A few of plot conveniences in a scene is passable. But no scene should hinge upon several factors conveniently playing out in an exact scenario to get one result.
We didn't need for no witnesses to see Tyrian, just for the majority of the people to think Penny was the killer. They could have had Marrow, Fiona, and any other Faunus in the audience see Tyrian, but because Tyrian killed all the Faunus that could have seen him that weren't working for Ironwood (Marrow), Hill doesn't have reason to suspect Tyrian because it looks like the killer specifically singled out everyone that could have identified the killer, and everyone claiming to have seen Tyrian are people working for Ironwood. It looks as if Watts and Tyrian factored every threat to their plans, and were prepared to eliminate them in a manner that sets it up so that the only people that can prove what they did are people that the public won't trust.
Trust does seem to be the main theme of the Volume...

Apart from Ruby's new look, which I really like, it's a shame the writers keep repeating basic mistakes. They need to hire some editors. It's worse when you see they clearly TRIED to devote some attention to security but then did nothing to actually enforce it in the show. They seem to lose track of everyone's established powers all the time, which is another problem when you give your characters too many.

It’s funny that all of this literally made little to no difference in the next episode. They basically debunked that Penny attacking was fake almost instantaneously
They also completely skipped over the Grimm attack that happened at the end of the previous episode. It's just like the aircraft getting shot down by a missile in V6. Cliffhanger at the end of an episode that the next episode doesn't even acknowledge at all.

- Why did Robin forget Penny was the one who shouted 'look out'?

- Aura fails to work as a 6th sense again.
- Robin actually see's penny standing around since she can point at her, if not she used aura to sense something, if not then her pulling her weapon out makes no sense.
- Robin not wondering why penny had her back facing her and looking around
- Ren still makes out with Nora even though he should sense scorpion man
- Ren still making out while everyone is dying
- Sheep girl turns to face scorpion man as he attacks, with glowing aura and eyes
- No one see's scorpion man's purple glowing aura.
- The trust resulting in the title of the guardian of atlas is immediately useless.
- No one questions why there was a black out and who/how did it
- No one questions a city black out if they could still see the vote, which they could
- No one managing the system questions a system breakdown/notices the votes are being messed with
- No one questions how Jacque won when there was like only 2 regions who hadn't voted yet. Literally that would give him only 41% votes on his side total. The math doesn't add up.
- If hacker man didn't do anything till the black out, that means there was only 1 minute to vote and robin should still have 53% on her side perma.

- Robin doesn't search for answers despite having a hit and run group so capable their able to attack dust trucks without issue

Wait. If they wanted to frame Penny, and later in the vol it's (")revealed(") that Watts was on the team that helped make Penny. If Watts is so powerful when it comes to manipulating Penny's sight, why doesn't Watts just take over Penny and have her kill people? There would be blood on the swords then, and not only would people see the glowing swords slashing at people in the dark, but she'd be center stage when the lights turn on, and (I think) sheep girl would be injured. I say sheep girl instead of Robyn, because if I thought about it, Robyn would just become a martyr and that might've caused more problems for the "plan" Watts and Tyrian have.
Plus, there would be actual proof that in some sense, Penny DID technically kill people.
It would also, depending on who she asks, throw a big weakness at Robyn's CONVIENT semblance, which is a living lie detector. The weakness being, it might only confirm if someone's telling the truth, it's determined by a person's subjective truth.
Watts did not hack Penny.

I think it could finally be something that finally spartan kick her character development into full gear instead of the writers basically just stalling with her character by making her the unrattleable, motivational, iron girl

Stupid for the Sake of the Plot isn't the only problem with RWBY, there's way too much shipping as well. And don't even get me started on Renora... that ship is unrealistic. This episode made me drop RWBY after being a fan of the show for years.
Ren and Nora is one of the like 2 pairings in this show that's been properly set up and built upon lol. If you mean the way it was utilized in this episode was forced, then i can see where you coming from, even though theyve established some tension between the 2 since arriving in Atlas, i agree that in not really sure why they're adding tension in the first place, at least at this point. They've been chill till now but made Ren randomly more distant
@@MagillanicaLouM Not only that, but their personalities are total opposites of each other. Ren is quiet and calm, while Nora is loud and hyper. They have nothing in common with each other, besides being hunters. If this show was more realistic, Ren would get annoyed with how obnoxious Nora is sometimes. All she does is follow him around too, even though it's not necessary.
@@Elegance2104 i think thats the point, theyre opposites in personality. Irl sometimes ppl look for that person who has what they dont, at least thats what i hear ppl say lol. Like im similar in personality to Ren but i rather like girls who are out there and can get me to open up a bit. Besides theyve been close since childhood, of ot really bothered him, hed have ditched her years ago. Though yeah, in this case i guess theyre going for Ren being stressed by what Djinn said about Salem while Nora doesnt seem to be taking it as seriously and just wants the D as priority and its causing a bit of a rift i guess.

In real life, a couple like that wouldn't last long because their personalities conflict with each other too much. Like you said, there is a rift between them, because Ren is more serious about the mission, while Nora is not.

I think this is yet another symptom of the show’s writing being rushed. RWBY is RT’s cash cow, so it seems that Miles and Kerry are pushing the storyboarding and animation teams to pump out RWBY content to meet their weekly deadlines, with little regard for quality and filling plot holes. Of course, ship baiting and identity politics have been corroding the show for a while, as well.
I really do think Roosterteeth needs to take a break from releasing RWBY episodes; for at least a year. Their teams need plenty of time to think about what they’re creating to make the show enjoyable again. Try to get the spirit back that Volumes 1-3 had; those were fun times. Not perfect, but fun times
They already confirmed two more volumes...while they're losing more employees.
That hiatus you're asking for runs a risk of being permanent.
Even if they did a hiatus, there's nothing they can do to salvage this show. V4 railroaded the plot by making it be all about these relics that are in each country, so we already know they have to visit each one and get the relic there before moving onto the next, V5 made Jaune ensure that there's almost no way to kill off any of the protagonists so long as he's around, V6 explained Ozpin, Salem, and the broken moon all in the most uninteresting ways possible and then killed off one of the most capable antagonists in the show after V4 and V5 ruined everything that made him good, and now V7 rendered Penny's "death" scene in V3 meaningless. There's no fixing this.

I feel like the writers took that line to heart a little more than they should have.
The part that makes a story with a predictable ending "fun to watch" is the unpredictable journey leading to that ending. In RWBY's case, both the journey and the destination are predictable.
These constant plot contrivances are the reason why I dropped RWBY
With a show that has magic and other stuff. It would of been better if Tyrian pulled an Orochimaru and took on another appearance. Like he did in the churning exams

And this would be the point where I just up and give up watching RWBY. At this point I'm better off just checking on it from time to time via summaries. Because this is just getting imbarassing with how badly some scenes are handled. I know that some character Semblances and passive abilities make it hard to have convincing stakes. But this really wasn't one of those moments. And if it's going where I think it's going. It's a little too on the nose too.

The people of Mantle have been mistreated for a long time and are angry with Ironwood and Atlas, so they may be beyond listening to reason and evidence now and just looking for anything to believe in that will make them feel justified in their anger and hatred instead of being rational about things.
That sort of thing happens all the time in real life, especially when it comes to politics.
Like people who hate or love a certain idea just because they are told a specific politician proposed it until hearing it actually came from a politician they hate because they are more focused on emotion and their bias than actually analyzing what they are being told and if it makes sense.

I was not talking about the security at the party at all and you are acting like I said something totally different from what I actually did. Your first reply has nothing at all to do with what I said in my comment and came out of nowhere.
I feel like you are trying to argue against a point that I did not even attempt to make since I did not say anything in my original comment to defend the failure of security at the party. I just said that I think people being stupid and blinded by anger enough to ignore proof the video of Penny was doctored is believable given what people in the real world can be like.
Also, it technically isn't a retcon if "all Faunus have night vision" was never officially stated, but I do agree that it's stupid that it is always forgotten in scenes where it would be actually useful and has only really been brought up in one scene in the show in a throwaway line.
