    I found from over the years of spraying flakes if you spray a slow drying coat of clearcoat first an come back with flakes they seam to flatten down in your wet bed and even look better as you spray your next of kandy or clearcoat

    Flop agent in the base flake mix to get the flakes to lay down. If you catalyze the base, do a color blender coat. A regular tack rag works judt fine. Good video brother.

    I was taught that to pull up stacked flake you need to tack rag very aggressively and keep the rag fresh. It's always worked out for me, not that I'm a professional or anything. The first time I did it, I was surprised to see what looked like normal basecoat (no fuzzies); but it looked as good as anything when the clear went on and it only took two coats like normal.

    Best way to do it is spray your flake and clear it, rub it back then candy over the clear, if you break through to the silver flake, you'll never see it since they're silver.

    In my experience mixing micro (.004) and mini (.008) flakes has a greater effect. The bass boat (.015) is very hard to cover with clear.

    Keep doing your thing mate, long time fan. A trick I learnt is to put down a base closer to your flake colour. For example silver then silver flakes. Multiple sized flakes help coverage too

    Hello ! it's just an opinion, I never tried this method. Instead of clear after the candy you can use transparent filler (which is used in the finishing of carbon fiber) it is much thicker than any clear, and it is very easy to sand, after which it can be cleared over

    I have always been curious how the jams get masked off when doing the outside. How do you stop the base blow through around the edges without having to touch them up.

    I failed to find tack pads but if I've got some sandpiling issues I wait a long while and I tack and blow with a 100% new microfiber its gets me out of trouble.

    2 questions wat did you sit the flakes in clear???? secondly i picked up a cheap DVB advance HD in pressure setup( want3ed it to shoot prumer etc). it was cheap but im kinda worried about spending money rebuilding it and it having a big flaw do you know anyone in Perth that has a non pressure cap as even unregulated off the compressor i cant get it to work even pressurising a pot by backflushing

    Candy paint jobs are very difficult too get right and take many hours as you know. The only people who try and knock you down are the ones who have never attempted one or only painted a petrol tank. 🤟

    When I do flake I do 3 coats of clear over the flake than I sand flat with 400 grit than 2 coats clear than another sand with 600 than candy finish with 2 coats clear this way the tops are knocked off the flake standing up pharaway explains it better in his vids

    What do you think would be the effect spraying flakes over Soul Red Crystal Metallic 46V pink base coat before applying the candy topcoat, would this kill the colour or enhance it?

    hey Gunman, i really hope you answer this question for me please *** What did you do about the edges between the inside spray and the exterior? I did this one time on a paint job and I got a edge of clear and even a little overspray in the inside of my paint job which afterwards i couldnt remove.
    Did you get the same results doing it on this one? Thank you for your time responding

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I did get a big edge, I sanded with 1,20 wet, polished up, and there was a little spot I had to brush in, but it looks neat.

    Looks good but with my experience using finer metal flakes goves you a better depth and presentation in a candy. Large flakes gives you a Christmas ball looking paint job. But at the end of the day it is what ever the customer wants. 👍

    Why didn't you use soft edges when you masked off the jambs?
    Or maybe I didn't see that part...

    Hey Gunny, am I seeing you clean prep the car with the engine running? Why? If so, surely the exhaust oil (it is not a clean exhaust) will contaminate the air and you just cleaned surface? Or...am I missing something?

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The spray booth was running, anything would go straight down. And it didn't cause any contamination. All good

    Fuckin slick brother👌quick question: why mix the candy into a 2k clear?
    when I spray my candy I typically mix it into intercoat or basecoat binder.. then throw 3-4 super wet coats of clear.. knock it back with 600-800 then a real nice flow coat.. it gives me more room to buff without worrying about burning the candy.. and helps keep final thickness down..
    I love watching your vids man keep up the good work 👏 💪
