I don't know exactly how long I've been subscribed, but I have zero intentions to dip my car. I just like watching cars being painted and this channel scratches that itch every Friday 😂
Try it. Took me awhile, now I'm about to get a 5th kit. Looking forward to high humidity testing. Love being able to get a custom color on my car for less than a wrap that I can change. Its epic.
A pixel at 10m isn’t small enough to discern the individual flecks in the paint. Ends up being averaged out, which is why at distance it looks dull. In person the effect would be mind blowing. But, funnily enough, the human eye has a similar issue at distance. Although the distance would be further with the eye. Representing the colour on camera at distance is nearly impossible due to the depth, camera just can’t resolve that level of depth with so few pixels.
That last experiment, where you blew the supposed limits out of the water and it turned out great, is what has transformed Gabe to the crazy risk-taker he's become. 😂😂😂😂
If it had had a lighter pigment load it might've worked ok. Red is a tricky colour of holographic nail polish to get looking right, but it can be done, so it could've been done here too. I've got some "jelly" nail polishes which are deliberately sheer polishes to give a look a bit like stained glass/jelly or like this candy coat stuff here. One red is very pigmented and hides the holo beneath it, but my most recent one is almost a "pastel red" in that its so sheer it looks pastel toned, but its not pink (which is what pastel red actually is) and that applied on top of the same holo polish works great. If they'd gone with the first amount when you could still see some of the stick colour through the candy coat it probably would have worked way better.
Looks like the iridescence of magma. That under-the-surface glow that tells you 'this is too hot to touch', which has me hopeful for how good it would look with other candies. This is nice, so it could only be better with the favorite colors of the one looking at it. I'd definitely rate this 5/5
Interesting! Looks like a really, really, really metallic cherry. I don't love it, but I sure don't hate it. 3.5 out of 5, with the .5 being for Gabe cutting loose lately. Mr Risk Taker himself! 😂
4. Although the holographic effect is very subtle, it's still visible from some angles, and I really like the red. The flakes give it an interesting textured look to it
❤ it is a what I love to look forward too and this Friday i m off and got o sleep in and catch this the same day😂😂😂I usually have to wait until Sunday usually lucky if on Saturday night
YOOOOO, that color combo is FIRE! I love how the candy makes the flake go crazy with red and purple shifts...makes it look vampiric. MORE OF THIS, PLEASE! 5/5!!
6/5. Waaah, I love Candy REDS😍 NO WAY WAS Gabe right in adding more😂, so adding too little at first would have left it bland, but now it's so amazing. Awesome work🥰
I actually love it. It is bright and glittery, but has mystery from a distance. It's like the difference between seeing a beautiful woman from a distance, versus being close where you suddenly smell her sweet perfume.
I know nothing about the plastidip stuff, I watch your videos and I’m always impressed by the finishes. But I’m mostly curious about durability. I build guitars and use nitro finish which goes on very thin and can be brittle. But for the first decade is quite durable. My question is, can anything be applied over the top that can be wet sanded back and polished? Or are you kind of stuck with whatever finish you get out of the gun?
That’s a solid 4-4.5/5 everyone complaining that the holographic is lost from a distance, but I think that’s what makes it kinda sick. The fact that up close you can definitely see that holographic effect but from a distance it’s like a bass boat red, just awesome. (Edit meant distance there not difference)
@@davescamera3672 I’m mildly colorblind myself, so I can see where you’re coming from, but there’s actually a lot of saturation in there, even from a distance. I color-picked a screenshot to double check my vision, haha. It’s right in the deuteranomaly blindspot, I think.
I’d love to see this in real life as I don’t think the camera is doing it justice. I’m pretty sure it looks awesome, too awesome for the camera to pick up. You guys do great work! Thank you for sharing it.😃
Love the Cherry candy over the large flake. Did seem to drown out some of the Holographic color shift. But not for nothing it is "BEAUTIFUL", great job, I love stuff like this 4-5.
I don't know how many coats you used. Couldn't have been more than 2. But I'm guessing it was only 1. In any case, I think you guys nailed it. I can still see plenty of rainbow affect under the candy cherry. This looks amazing. Outstanding job, guys. 👍👏
Another amazing spray paint job. The colour ranges from a pinkish red close up with the holographic rainbow to a deep wild cherry at a distance. Got to rate this a solid 5
Not exactly something that I would have sprayed on my car, but I do like how it came out. I'd give it a solid 3.5/5 only because most of the holo dies at a distance. But still a great concept. Love seeing how Gabe has changed over the last two years that I've been watching your content on this platform, too!
Absolutely wild!! That candy red adds an entirely new dimension to the holo flake. Would love to see something like this applied over a hyper shift to see what happens!!
I personally really like this. Even though it didn't work correctly it created an amazing color. Kinda almost looks like an active lava field. Would love to see like a brown/bronze instead of the red.
I'm not into holos as a general rule, but today I learned that candy over holo gives me chunky glitter. I love the muted holo and the way the red goes burgundy and deep purple. I really loved this experiment. 5/5.
I've been waiting for a video like this again. I had a suggestion for these kinds of paint jobs. Maybe, put a couple layers of the clear down before the candy coat, so the candy doesn't disrupt the shifting effect.
It looked better during painting than after. Be interesting to see various hues from the holographic being feathered in places. Just a little yellow at the top going to a bit of orange, red, purple at the bottom. The holographic seems to 'camo' the shape of the body, so use the hues to give the body some shape.
Gabe has crossed over from being intimidated to having a knack for this! Great combo, I want to see it on a new Dark Horse. Also please either replace those taillights or give them love- they're crying for it.
Best paint job I ever seen was candy apple red with sparingly large metal flake under several coats of clear coat. The flakes look like they were hovering over the red paint
4/5 for me. It's a really cool color, I'd call it Volcanic Mermaid, but I couldn't see myself putting it on a car because it feels oddly sensual, like the kind of paint job I'd expect to see on a pimpmobile
Wow, I didn’t expect to like this much, but that purple shade going to the red is fantastic! Sure wish I could afford something like this on my van, but as a very low income senior, I’m afraid I can’t. Enjoying the videos though!
I don't know whether the results were what you envisioned, but I love it! It's gorgeous! 5 because I love it! I do think less of the candy might have allowed the holographic flake to show through more which would be rad!
If adding more candy red makes the red darker, I fully believe the full bottle should've been used...I was picturing a sick dark cyber esque laser scan look to the paint job
*Thoughts..?*
How many layers did you end up spraying?
I just want to know what changed in gabe?!?!
I'll give it a 4, you overdid the candy by probably 1 coat.
wow!
Like it giving it a 4. You need a better looking car though.

Same haha
@@talayoki6989lmao DipYourNails
You have to be at least thinking about it. You need to dream.
This color oughta be called “Metallic Raspberry Jam”.
*ahem* Raspberry Space Jam
I'm loving how Gabe and Fonzie have basically switched roles as the "let's do more!" and "Are you sure?" guys over the past few months 🤣
Someone call Dorothy! We must be back in Oz, because that car must be her Ruby Slippers on four wheels! Superb gentleman! I love it!
Gabe has gone rogue. The whole bottle sir.
Half or less
Gabe has gone nuts, I think he doesn't want the holographic super flake to show through.
@JadenYukifan28 he should've
The dynamic between the two of you is priceless!
One does something and other one ?? He is worthless
@@DJRoyalEdo that's very harsh... None of them are worthless.
Concept - 5. Result - 3 I figured it would dull the holo shift, but it really killed it from a distance.
Agreed, maybe the reverse of the application of the candy first, then the flake after, might have kept the true holo effect.
i like it way better from a distance... its more subtle and i liek how dark it gets
Maybe it was the wrong candy colour? While I agree it dulled the Holo, but in a good way. Maybe a candy apple might have been better
@@paulabell8747I think the dark base threw it off yet again.

Nope. Lost the holographic effect. What if you reversed the order? Candy first with the holographic after?
That's exactly what I was thinking. That should work.

@@AlexaFaie Using nail polish to make a point about car paint. I salute you ma'am! That's damn good point too.
Could you actually mix the holographic flakes with the pigment, and spray it on as one uniform layer?
@@Cloudedreign
In some cases, the pigments are the same - just a different carrier. So, she's not off the mark.
Looks like a spray can paint job. Concept was fun though

This new Gabe….LOVE IT!!!!
Car went from a bass boat to a candy bass boat. Interesting if nothin else.

wonder if Gabe was right and more red would have muted the bass boat glitter a bit more. .

It kind of looks like red sequins. Awesome. 5/5.
Watching this on a phone doesn't do it justice. The difference in resolution is wild. @480 it's a meh. @4k it's unbelievably fantastic 10/5
I switched my settings in the video and that really changed it a lot! At lower res it gets so glitchy.
Best part of Friday car looks awesome

Reminds me of those old swivel stools in the nostalgic diners, they’d be upholstered in fabric just like that
Love that Gabe is coming out of his shell sorta 😊 and I personally love the color and effects of the holographic flake! Beautiful! 5!

Love the Buc-ee’s hat!!!
