    Lovely video ☺️ I've been curious about these since seeing Linsay's video! Polychromos was my first set of professional artists' pencils, I did hours and days of research and watching videos and I could tell just from watching the lay down of colour that Polychromos had the feeling and texture I wanted. They were by far the best investment of pencils I made 😌 I recently purchased the Caran D'Ache Luminance pencils and honestly I don't love them nearly as much. Polychromos are completely different in texture and feeling when working with them than Primacolours and Luminance and other brands I've tested out. Even just watching these videos I can tell that these dupes are more similar in texture to a Prismacolour than the real Polychromos, there's a visible difference in the amount of wax to oil ratio, which is what I don't like very much about the Luminance pencils (still gorgeous! Just not my personal preference). When you do decide to start collecting Polychromos I promise they're worth it 😁 Unless of course the texture isn't what you like. I know a lot of people like the softer, buttery feel of the more wax based pencils, which brings a learning curve with the Polychromos if that's what you're used to 😆 I hope you have a very merry Christmas! I enjoyed watching you test these out ☺️

      Merry Christmas to you! Thank you so much for watching and for the great comment! I agree, colored pencils are such a personal preference. I have one Luminance pencil-only one! Lol I got it as a sample and haven’t used it beyond one monochromatic drawing. That was very enjoyable to do, though! My only concern with Prismacolor is that I find them to be very crumbly. These seems to hold their point longer and there were far fewer crumbs. I’m looking forward to collecting the real thing, but these are a surprisingly good bridge to that path😊

      @@artonthecreek Prismacolours are pretty crumbly, even the Luminance aren't as crumbly and hold their point better, which is actually why I decided to invest in them as well 😅 I really wanted to enjoy that buttery texture that you get with the wax but have a sturdier lead than pencils like Prismas, but after swatching the Luminance I now know it's just a personal preference in texture and I've found I prefer the harder lead of Polychromos so I'll be a lot more mindful when purchasing pencils in the future and make sure to test out individuals like I did the Prismas instead of buying a whole set like I did with the Luminance 😂 Good thing the difference in texture allows for different techniques and the colours are also unique so they'll still be used and enjoyed, just not as much as my Polychromos hahah I think these dupe pencils will be a good option for people who want to test out the colour range and have that similar pencil shape and size. The colours also match pretty well to the Polychromos so they'll work exactly how you intended them to for not having to pay the hefty price but still get the idea of whether you would enjoy them 😊 I want to try them out for myself someday and really test them against the Polychromos

      Hello Ezra, I think you will enjoy the Pablo line from Caran d Ache more than luminance, because they blend extremely well and they lay down very smoothly. I also got the complete set of the luminance, my husband got them for me and I really do not like them at all. Their laydown makes me freak out a little, just like some people have with pastel sticks. I don't know yet what I will do with them :-//. Maybe you can get some open stock Pablos. I am curious wether you will like them.

      Thank you so much! I have no issues with these pencils & quite enjoy them. Their claim that they blend with water is false, though. I have a photo example of that trial on one of the posts on my community tab. As long as you’re not concerned with lightfastness, these pencils are decent. (…and I get it-do any of us really ‘need’ more art supplies? I call my supplies a very useful collection. I collect art supplies…and happen to use them!😅)

      Sadly, I have not tried the Brutfruner! I know several TH-cam artists have reviewed them-I would check out Sarah Renee Clark & Lindsay Weirich’s reviews.
      I can tell you, though, that I have used these pencils every single day for at least a year now and I do like them.
      They are not at all like Polychromos-these have a very buttery, soft feel and do leave fewer crumbs than Prismacolor. Still, I would not assume these are lightfast but do love them for sketchbook work!

    • @artonthecreek
      @artonthecreek หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am not certain how closely they correspond to Faber Castell Polychromos in color number, however I have heard from some artists they are very close.
      They don’t feel like Polychromos-they are more like Prismacolors only not as crumb-prone.
      I hope that makes sense just answers your question-let me know ❤️

    Thank you for this review. I have a smaller set (24) of Faber Castell Polychromos and I was considering getting these as a cheaper alternative way of gettig the whole 120. But I can tell from your video that these pencils are not the same, although all the colour numbers do match. These dupes look like they lay down much softer and remind me more of Brutfuners. The water solubility thing made me laugh - real Polychromos are not, but many of the cheaper Chinese ones with a poorer quality core (like brutfuner and Arteza - especially Arteza) are often water-soluble by accident - looks like this company is acknowledging the failing by presenting it as a feature 🤣. I'm sure they won't be anywhere near as good as the Albrecht Durer at water-solubility though.
    Those dupes are available on Amazon UK, currently at £77 - personally I'd rather spend that on more real Polys. They are very different from Prismas; much firmer and are great for finer detail and layer beautifully.
    Happy new Year to you. 🥳

    • @artonthecreek
      @artonthecreek ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree 100%. I’m anxious to gradually replace them with actual Polychromos! Water solubility is laughable-see my community tan for that test😂. There are a few pluses-they do have a nice feel and crumble so very little. For me, the minimal crumbs is huge! That’s the biggest frustration I have with Prismacolor, which is why I wanted to try Polychromos. Thanks so much for watching this video, Lewis! I’m glad you enjoyed it and I really appreciate your comments! Happy New Year to you!!!🥳🍾🥂

    • @artonthecreek
      @artonthecreek ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! The water-soluble claim turned out to be ridiculous. I tested them in one of the posts on my community tab if you’re curious 😀 They are a good colored pencil for someone who cannot afford to dive into the professional products all at once, provide a decent color range, and don’t leave a lot of crumbs. Not a bad option for the artist/colorist looking for a pleasant pencil to use.

      Hi Cathy-thanks for your comment.
      There are many artists who cannot afford more expensive, high quality art supplies. These people have a genuine need to search for something they can use that will perform in an acceptable manner. This is the spirit in which this review is intended.
      As covered in my review, these are clearly generic colored pencils. In no way would they be mistaken for Polychromos. It is the packaging and the numeric color labeling that are “dupes” for the Faber Castell genuine article.
