@@godgokublack5568 17 inch models tend to do do better in places they couldn’t on the 15 inch models. Cooling and airflow are gonna be better, battery life will probably be slightly worse on the QHD model since there’s more pixels to push juice to, but that’s a very thin margin. I get 8 hours worst case scenario

@@godgokublack5568 if you can find the 17 inch at QHD I’d recommend it over the 15 inch. That thing is a forbidden unicorn in how rare it is to find in stock. QHD in 17’ is the sweet spot, can’t complain about more screen real estate. But man, the QHD display on the 15 inch is so good I resent every other monitor/tv/phone display I have to look it. Theoretically there’ll me a minor trade off in detail & sharpness you get from the same display in 15’ but unless you have severe ocd you won’t care. It’s practically OLED without the deeper blacks
Looks soooo good with that gun-metal color and translucent deck! Lack of HDMI 2.1 and dGPU only mode is a deal-breaker unfortunately, and Lenovo Legions have both.
I have had this laptop since 09/2021, and have not used the keyboard ONCE. This is my main PC at home, with another keyboard and mouse hooked up to it, and displaying unto a 31" PC monitor and a 4K 75" (yes, 75) TV. I would not travel with this laptop. I have a cheaper MSI laptop for that. This thing is a beast, even two years later.
What keyboard do you use then? I have a mechanical logitech g11 but the key travel is too much for me. Can't find a decent keyboard with not much travel
Most laptop webcams are trash you'd be better off buying an external webcam as you can get higher quality or pay 30 bucks for one that's similar to the ones that come built into laptops
@@Antonis24 either way I don't use a webcam for anything so doesn't really matter to me but if I had to use one I personally would want better quality and if I'm buying a laptop that's $2000 and up than I'm pretty sure I should be able to afford a webcam but to each their own

I bought one, I love it. Major bug where I couldn't upgrade to 21H2 or 11. Several days of troubleshooting. I just ended up a full wipe. Yes Lisa they definitely should update the software. Windows is absolutely trash. There troubleshooter never ever works. I'm just tired of windows bugs. It's so so ridiculous. There lucky Linux isn't gaming mainstream. I would have left a long time ago

How does the ROG Strix Scar 15 compare with the Razer Blade 15 Advanced. The QHD panel on the Scar is 165Hz, while the QHD panel on the Razer is 240Hz. The Alienware m15 R4 or R5 is also an option but the screen is 300Hz but Full HD.
Debating between this and the Alienware M15 R5. Leaning toward this because the 1440p 165hz sounds like a sweet spot. Plus I can get 2 SSD's in Raid 0. I am concerned about the 130W GPU though.
i wonder if 3D printing custom bottom panels for laptops could be a good market to start up, air flow wherever you want it, thickness however you need it

Me too. Though the frame rates are plenty high enough for me at QHD, so I can live with it (I'm not a highly competitive eSports player). I'm more AAA gaming.

Perfect review here, you feel the same about this laptop as I do and the darn keystone trash. Only game I have that pushes the heat on this laptop is flight simulator 2020 the cpu will run in the 90s when gaming with a large group online and using discord. Otherwise its 80s all the way.
pls make a video on turning off the AMD radeon default settings (brightness decrease if not plugged in) and updating all the drivers and stuff. many people around the world would appreciate it. xD
Zeph: 1 lb. weight less, no RGB bling, significantly lower wattage GPU. Zeph competes more with the Razer, this one competes with Alienware and MSI GE Raider.
to add, Zeph is more to thin and light, while Scar is the gaming powerhouse. If you're looking to do both work and light gaming, suggest Zeph G14/15 or M series, or if you do heavier gaming, choose Scar or Strix G15 as they got more power and bulkier. Not saying that either cannot do work/heavy gaming, they can, just different built I guess.
The keyboard is fine unless you have bionic hearing. This thing is so much smoother even at similar frame rates Compared to my asus rog zephyrus g15. Must be the extra VRAM on the 3080.
@@SunnyXVNV I'm still very happy with this overall package. It's gotten slightly cheaper too. The closest competitor is the Legion 5 Prois very good as well, though slightly more expensive.
No Mux switch as usual this year on Asus (what were they thinking?) is a major dealbreaker, QHD screen on 15 inches makes the ray tracing pointless as you'll never run it @native resolution unless you enjoy slideshows. Big meh
My oh my, what a wonderful review!!! Learned so many things from this video! The temperatures, the Thunderbolt 3 (it should be obvious but it never ran thru my mind that an AMD chipset wouldn't have an Intel technolgy. Yeah I know, it's pretty obvious). Lack of SD slot, but great display, great configuration. I'm wondering if this would be a good choice over a desktop with similar configuration. I mean, usually notebooks have space and thermal limitations, so maybe on a desktop with the "same" hardware, the performance would be better, right? Thanks again.
@@the_sound_of_art supposedly Intel has relaxed the licensing on Thunderbolt, and it's getting absorbed by USB 4 anyway which is an industry standard not tied to any one company.

Best laptop imo but I would go for the 17 inch model and a hdmi 2.1 would be nice addition for older games and well optimized ones

I don't think it's dgpu mode only, I'm afraid it's Optimus mode only, which is much worse
Can you not run more fps through the usb c port bypassing the 2.1 requirement

Yes and even more confusing is the 1080p version has double the VRAM on the GPU. I went for the 1080p as I have a 1440p monitor.
