Hi, everyone! I’m Fate Cunanan a medical doctor for the Philippines. I remember most of the interviews we had and one of the most frequently asked question during Med School, Clerkship and Internship was, “Anong pre-med mo? Anong batch? Saan ka nag pre-med?”
Ano nga ba ang best pre med for Medicine? For today’s episode, we will be talking about BS BIOLOGY and BS LIFE SCIENCES as Pre-Med Course in the Philippines. We will be joined by Dr. Reydom Miranda (BS Biology) and Dr. Joseph Daniel Marin (BS Life Sciences) to help us understand more of the course details. My son going to grad next yr, may review pa ba ng nmat, his plan to take licenseure muna as microbiologist ,then Nmat, kung papasa , may 2 yrs pang pwede kang mag hintay kung proceed or not to proceed to med. And singit ko yung may scholarship na nagbibigay?

I have a hard time dealing with my reportings in terms of speech (mahiyain kasi at namemental block) does this affect po in finishing my course and when aiming for doctor-profession??
Congrats and one more year to go!! Just keep on conquering that fear and eventually you will get used to it or will get a hang of it :) continue pursuing your dreams. Marami din ako ka batch na shy type and introvert but are excelling :) stay safe!

Already graduated this May ng BS Information Technology and I am planning to pursue my 2nd degree course which is Medicine.
What do you think po yung preferred na pre med course. Well doctor tlga kasi yung gustong kong path career, BSIT is my parents choice for me.

@@DocFateCunanan Yes Doc. My only chance pra makapag aral ng Medicine is sa UP, since my parents can't afford the tuition fee. Pray for me huhu 90 percentile and above ang recommended passers sa kanila. Do I need to study in review center po ba or I can study on my own?
Doc,medtech student pa po ko 2nd year and ask ko langg po kung pwede po ba ko maging vet? and how po?

Microbiology for safe route. U can take certification on microbio if microbio track mo unlike sa medbio na magiging useful lang tlga kapag nagmedbio ka

Hi may I ask what BS Biology major are the guests? I only found out recently that there are majors in BS biology and does that affect the lessons you take and its similarity with the subjects during medicine?

Hi! Incoming college here! Ask ko lang po sana kung ano yung ibig sabihin ng "BS Biology in general" po? Sa NEU po kasi tinanong ko po kung ano yung inooffer nilang specializations and sabi po nila in general po sya for pre med po. Send helpp
No specialization for pre med courses as far as I know but perhaps some pre med has major subjects added on.

Those two are the most decent jobs as a biology undergrad. You can choose quality assurance and laboratory technician. If you still dont like these then dont take biology lol

If you want to take Bs bio in college tapos you want to Registered nurse ok lang po ba?? Pwde po bang nursing course ang biology??
Yes! That’s possible just add or take units needed for the BS Nursing :) and clinicals too :) but some subjects can be credited if you took BS Bio already. I know someone from Bio who took Nursing as well :)

Any government institution but you can ask from private schools as well and compare them for their pros and cons :)

Bottom line: don't take biology if your one and only goal is to take medicine.
Mas mahal ang biology compared sa medtech because palaging kunti ang enrollees.
Your knowledge in ecology, evolutionary biology, botany, and zoology will never be EFFICIENTLY used sa medical school. If we compare a medtech student to a biology student, it is obvious na mas maramig alam ung medtech sa clinical knowledge.
But at the end of the day, you do you periodt
