I’m a watch bloke as well which I got from my old man. You could never have enough of them. The work watch, the Saturday shopping with the misses watch, the Sunday semi casual dress watch, the riding watch , the jeans & t shirt watch and the reasons keep coming. I love my Nixon watches, affordable. It’s also funny hearing Americans use metric with confidence 😁 This videos just shows how normal you are 🥇
The small one is called the Speedmaster Reduced. It's 38.5mm and it's an auto. It's cheaper than a Speedmaster Professional but there is a caveat. The movement is basically two movement stacked on top of each other. There's the base movement which is a simple basic movement with another movement on top doing the chronograph stuff. This makes the watch very hard to service and only few watchmakers would burn their hands on it. If you do find one willing to do it, it's gonna cost you.
You must get a Speedmaster Adam. Showing my age, l bought one new in 1972 (£69), and still wear it to this day! Still keeps amazing time. Never knew that HW's had so many staff! What a business! Take care M8, cheers, John.
They purposely made it plastic. Even if they would have added stainless steel and mineral crystal the actual speedmaster owners and its resale price would have been cannibalised.
Really enjoyable video Adam! And really nice of you to arrange for a discount for your audiences 👍 really enjoy all the Happy Jewelers videos from the PM channel so looking forward to see more of them!
The plastic crystal on the Moonswatch has a tiny "S" laser engraved in the very center. I´m pretty sure you have scratched it off and no buffer wheel can fix that.
I got my "everyday does it all watch" back in 2008, a 2003 GMT Master II. Risked it on eBay for £2k and took it straight to an AD for an insurance valuation. Luckily it was genuine. I've worn it almost everyday for the last 15years and only now am I starting to look at building a collection of budget friendly pieces to go with it, like the Seiko Turtle, Bulover Lunar etc
The Swatch Group is the world's largest watch company and employs about 36,000 people in 50 countries. The group owns the Swatch product line and other luxury brands, including Blancpain, Breguet, Certina, ETA, Glashütte Original, Hamilton, Harry Winston, Longines, Mido, Omega, Rado, and Tissot.
Hi Adam! Hope ur having a nice day! Just wanna say i love your videos, I love watches, i love outdoor stuff, and cars. So your channel is build for me, thanks for everything! Cheers from Norway buddy!
My Girlfriend lives 10minutes out of Biel (Omega and Swatch Headquarters). Saturday i was driving through Biel an passed the Omega/Swatch Building (by the way, Omega belongs to the Swatch Group). well outside they have the Swatch Drive Thru, so you can stop my car and order a Swatch like Mc Donald. Well i went into the little Shop and asked which one its available and the handed me over the Mission Moon ;-) but they would have more as well, unfortunately not the Mercury, but i will get that one for shure. Now ist changed the Strap, not happy with them. put a elastic Bond Nato on it. Looks great ;-)
How much for a plastic watch??😳 I knew I should have kept those lucky bag watches as a kid.🙄 Your face when he scratched the watch face made me chuckle🤣😂
The Omega Speedmaster is my all time favorite and dream watch. I was going to buy a moon-swatch but I felt like I was not going to be happy with it because it was a bit the “real” speedmaster.
The moonswatch does a perfect job. It's not meant to be an alternative. It's meant for you to buy it, then realize you should have just gotten an actual speedmaster. It actually looks really nice, but the acrylic crystal and plastic case just makes me laugh at the $275 price tag. It's like a $50 watch, $100 at maximum.
Find yourself the 1965 model. (I won't sell mine 😂.). It is not a daily watch anymore, but it's beautiful and a real collectors piece. Unfortunately, acrylic only.
Ironic you took our awful weather with you. We are having some nice weather for a few days the last of it. Just smashed out 17miles on the bike swearing like f, when i got back
Defo get a Seamaster Adam, I will one day, likewise I need to reduce the collection sometime and would like just a couple of decent watches…. Keep livin the dream 🇬🇧🍺👍
Great video, although I winced and got instantly angry with that screen scrape chap lol...and II like the new Blancpain swatch too.... I predict the blck one will be HARD to find. 👏👍👌✌🤘🖖🤙🍻
Great video, Adam! By the way, I bought a Mission To Jupiter MoonSwatch in Amsterdam, on a very quiet Tuesday morning for 260 euro...no problemo whatsoever... I think it's a fun watch and a great addition to my -inherited- two original Swatch watches from 1983...
I was just in Vegas for F1 and randomly walked into the Swatch store at the NY NY hotel. They had every single Omega/Swatch available at retail. I didn’t buy because I’d just bought a new Speedmaster at the Wynn, and saw that these were trading at 310 on StockX, and it wasn’t worth the hassle to make 50$ per watch. The lady was surprised that I didn’t just buy all of them since they said the previous day there was a line. They felt cheap and being an Omega guy it just felt weird with it on my wrist.
17:15 Wear an Omega Speedmaster on your Seadoo and you'll have a broken Speedmaster if you fall into the drink, especially at speed. Modern Speedies are only water resistant to 5 bar, so that means it should be safe in the rain or if it gets splashed, but not for swimming.
@Adam Swords I don't think that the Speedmaster would have the water resistance that you need. I know it's a cliche but the Submariner really is the GOAT one watch collection. Dress up, dress down it does everything
I agree, he mentioned the seado thing. If you tanked off that the speed master would not fair well. I also agree as much as I'm not the biggest fan, the submariner is probably the best 1 watch collection
Cracking little episode mate. If i was in the position now I would grab the one with the red strap, liked the look of that. Funny to hear about Swatch watches being talked about like that. Back in the '80s I used to buy one of those with suit in Top Man/Burton for about £15/£25, they were classed as a piss up watch back then,so it didn't matter if you wrecked or lost them. How times have changed.
Did anyone else's ocd flare up seeing happy jewellers watch makers servicing watches right next to where they polish them in the same room, those buffing wheels throw dust and grime everywhere they are supposed to be in a seperate room to where you dismantle and service watches!
14:43 @Adam Swords it looks good with that strap. This kind of content is awesome for people who can’t afford the expensive watches, and can make their typical Swatch look different with that strap. I’ve had Swatch watches since I was teenager. But lost them all. By the way, how is the brand Tag Heuer
Hey Adam love your videos I love the Omega Speedmaster but it cannot be your do it all watch due to the low water resistance…you could go for the new Tudor Blackbay 54 or the Seiko SPB143 which would certainly be your do it all watch…Cheers!!!
The Speedmaster is my grail watch. I already own the Bulova Lunar like Adam does as well, and many others.. I bought the MoonSwatch on a recent Vegas trip, and honestly it didn't do it for me. I turned around and sold it for what I paid for it, just to pass it on without scalping. I'll keep saving for the real deal and be done.
I found the pink Moonswatch in a small jewellers in Christchurch in Dorset U.K. - he only had the one and I wanted the pink one ❤ I love it so much!! X
i would keep the full black...sell the grey one and red by the way, since you went to Switzerland, did you went to the Zenith factory? my all time favorite watch is the Zenith Defy full black watch
I have a Speedmaster Darkside of the moon and the complications are everywhere. At night with lounge/bar lights the shiny black on matte black look like diamonds dancing. “Beautiful watch” if you only knew what your looking at chick
I would never buy a watch where the face can get scratched same with my sunglasses. Breitling and Costa's. I too am a fellow Rolex owner, I have the Seadweller. Good Content bro!
It's funny (and hypocritical) that Omega can make a $250-500 dollar watch with crap material.... people think nothing of it - but when Invicta makes a $1,500 - 2K with diamonds and R150 or SW200 movement.... people bash it as overpriced. My Invicta Chaos 32045 has equal quality to any Omega or Rolex around 25K... yet priced far less. People see that brand and will insanely overpay for it.
Cool video. I been wanting a Omega watch my self for some time.Speedmaster is a really nice watch and think its a good all the time watch. Recently saw these Omega/Swatch wasn't sure what to think of them. I do like the Red one and the all black one.
I live in Fl I've been to the swatch store twice bought 2 they always have at least three colors for sale now, yes you can only buy one per day but I don't see why anyone would need to pay a premium nowadays
Happy Jewelers of Fullerton, California is Fantastic! Should one ever lightly scratch a hesalite (plastic) watch lens, simply put a little PolyWatch on it and polish at home. Its easy to do. Note, the original Speed Master had a hesalite lens. There are now Sapphire Crystal (sandwich) versions made as well that allow you to see the movement. Thank You for such a Fun Video!
Just got the new Speedmaster to go with my Seamaster, the perfect 2 watch garage lol. I love it because it's a beautiful looking watch that is not so expensive that I'm afraid to wear it. Mate I thought that older model for $2k was a steal, I paid 12k Aussie pesos for mine.
I have heard that the plastic on the "bio" Speedy is harder to polish than the traditional plexi crystals, not sure if that's true? I have easily polished out VERY deep scratches from plexi just by using polywatch and hand polish. It can take 15-20 minutes if the scratch is very deep but I have not failed so far and I must have done at least 100 of the over the years.
I have a speedmaster dark side of the moon team Alinghi and its a great watch. only concern as an "everything" watch is its water resistance. I wouldn't get near a body of water with it, since its water resistance is pretty low. Which is odd considering Alinghi is a sailing race team
It's absolutely fine to wash under the tap with a toothbrush and dish soap. I have had at least 10 Speedmasters the last few years ranging from 1960's 321's to the newer models and not have any problems at all with water getting in so it should be fine, specially if the watch is newer than for example 20 years old. The only thing is to probably not swim with it or operate the pushers when near water. I think some people are too scared about these things, Speedmasters are after all very well constructed and is rated to go down 50 meters, the water pressure at still 50 meters is no joke! Still, I would not actually swim with a watch unless it at least had a screw down crown(s) and was rated at least 100 meters.
I think that Im crayzy I'm not English bit I know from somewhere whoice and I toth I'm nuts and I remember from your wideos with luksury stuf whic you film for o man I forget in that time I remember you hawe both old Mercedes and try too make it good😂. It was 4ares ago :))
It seems the craze on these MoonSwatch only still exist in USA & UK. Kinda died off here in Singapore, and you can pretty much walk into Swatch and grab most colors , any day. No Q at all. The only in demand model is the blue Neptune. Got the Moon and Mars from Swatch at retail couple months back. Oh and I have mine on Nato straps. Love it!
Dude, they did not hear of Polywatch? I know Swatch watches do not disassemble, but to polish the crystal on that machine, with the movement inside... the vibrations can mess up things inside. Plus, by polishing it, the crystal is thinner now.
I'm a watch guy and own a Speedy Pro with hesalite crystal but I wouldn't call this a "one and done watch". Whether it's hesalite or sapphire crystal, Speedmaster only has 5 bar water resistance. That's only 50 meters and its definitely not recommended for swimming or diving. Don't get me wrong, I love my Speedy. It's iconic, not to mention its great history. But if you want a "one and done watch", perhaps Omega Seamaster 300 might be better.

The speedmaster is beautiful but it hasn't the water resistance to wear it on the seadoo. A white ceramic dial seamaster could be the one
I have heard that the plastic on the "bio" Speedy is harder to polish than the traditional plexi crystals, not sure if that's true? I have easily polished out VERY deep scratches from plexi just by using polywatch and hand polish. Personally I like the new blue dial Speedmaster better but for you the Omega is probably what fits you.
Yeah that one is beautiful for sure
Isn’t swatch longine omega under the same company?
Good to see you back in the VW!!
Great find! I got mine in Vegas !!!
hi adam cool video i currently have a red and blue tudor GMT i love it
People who don't know much about watches:
Why would Omega or Blancpain cheapen themselves by associating with Swatch?
Swatch:
Because we OWN them
VW owns Lamborghini, don’t see any collabs there. It’s a valid point.
@@AdamSwordshmmm what would the equivalent be I wonder…. A Volkswagen Countach? lol
The scratched added to the value....
you could repeat this with the Blancpain swatch😁

There isn’t really so much of a crazy in the US… but at the moongold (or whatever) releases there are still people who will line up and resellers.
Speedy are awesome, but as a one and done watch, probs not the best for water or diving.. so keep a Seiko in the collection 😅!

I know Swatch watches do not disassemble, but to polish the crystal on that machine, with the movement inside... the vibrations can mess up things inside. Plus, by polishing it, the crystal is thinner now.

That's only 50 meters and its definitely not recommended for swimming or diving. Don't get me wrong, I love my Speedy. It's iconic, not to mention its great history. But if you want a "one and done watch", perhaps Omega Seamaster 300 might be better.
I bought the Moonswatch and immediately swapped the band to a Nato. I may have to look into that rubber strap.
