    I was a Harvard student. I took notes. Watch to find out how I did it. Hint: it includes a pencil and paper.
    HUGE THANK YOU to Mary Robicheaux for this question. I hope my reply helped :)
    Also, hey guys, I was trying to be gender neutral when I used the pronouns for the professorship... but then I realized "he" and "she" were too restrictive, so I tried to include a non-gender binary, "it" (because it's the only other singular pronoun I knew that fulfilled this specific role). This might have seemed insensitive, so I'm sorry--my intentions were good. In the future, I'll opt to use "they". Hope that helps clarify any problems! This channel is very open and loving of everyone (just sometimes might not know the right way to express it).

    I remember I had a huge battle with my teacher once about the history of the novel Of Mice and Men. Basically, I take notes on everything and I'm very serious about taking notes, as they are legit the ONLY way I can remember anything. So I was just sitting there scrawling down loads of notes until the teacher legit started screaming at me saying that I'm not allowed to take notes because it's a waste of everyone's time etc. And because she legit took my book and threw it at me, I just put that as an automatic suspension for the teacher (which she did lol) and so I said politely, can you e-mail me the PowerPoint presentation so I can take notes on it at home and she flipped out again, saying if I want to stay in at break and do the notes than be my guest etc. So I stayed in, did my notes and the huge end of year exam featured, you guessed it, THE HISTORY OF 'OF MICE AND MEN' so legit everyone scraped a passing grade whilst I got an A+ because I did the work in class and did extra work at home.
    Always take notes kids.

      Haterzgonnahate 01212882012 nice one! I like and hate the mice and men story. Not only does it give the false impression that a happy ending is arriving at the end of the story after all the heartache but then crushs people's hopes because as soon as thd dream was about to be manifested it was snatched away from them. 😢

    Efficient note taking
    Can I ever
    Hand write your notes
    Will save you time while studying it
    Word shortenings
    President = pres.
    it’s good to recognize when your professor repeats concepts
    We’re not birds that repeat
    When your professor tells you lots of information Only take notes on the main bullet points
    When your professor says this is gonna be in the test, write it down
    Use a scheme
    Get creative writing your notes
    You’ll be more likely to retain the information later on

    How to deal with people who stabs you in the back when all you do is being active in the class? been dealing with this (Specifically, bullying). For about 3 years now. Thanks! Hope you'll get to answer this soon enough. Love you (-:

    • @yanaairikh5789
      @yanaairikh5789 7 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I'd love to hear about that too because It's so awful and unfair!Luckily I haven't experienced serious bullying, , but students at my uni in my course have such bad attitude towards people who are or wanna be active in the class and outside of it especially when it comes to lectures and things where we all get together as,for example, first-year students (I hope you understand what I'm writing about, because I suppose we have a bit different system here in Russia)).
      Anyway, I wanted to wish you good luck with those not very smart people. I hope soon they won't be part of your life

      Please don't be like me!

    surprisingly, at my uni, some of my teachers don't let us take any kind of digital devices (it's also not pratical because it's a really old university and the rooms don't have plugs when we run out of battery in our laptops or wtv) so yes, handwriting your notes really helps on memorizing and understanding your stuff, even more if you re-write them at home

    What I like to do is take notes on the laptop at first. I am a SUPER SLOW writer, but a very fast typist. Most of my professors don't share their PowerPoints with students (or they teach everything verbally with no visual aids or script at all). That way I can record all of the information they are sharing without worry of missing out on something important. Then, when I get home from class, I write them all out and add in notes from the textbook. Then, I can use neat, organized bullet points with highlights and color coding. I also found that the repetition of doing the notes helped me remember the content better. (:

    similar to the abbreviating words concept, i find that making shortened sentences easier/faster to write. instead of details that make a sentence proper, i would just take the main idea of the sentence and omit determiners and such. for example: i start school in two weeks. my version: start school two wks. ahah it seems weird but it works for me

    Hand written notes are soooo much better! I feel it's the same difference in reading a book online as opposed to reading a physical copy. Somehow you develop an affinity (sorta) to what you write and retain it brilliantly. Technology cannot substitute for certain things!!
    p.s. Also typing on word has made my spellings shitty since everything keeps getting auto-corrected and I never know that I made a mistake.

      What I like about hand writing my notes is that I can format it or design it any way I want with ease. On a computer, there are more limitations than using your own imagination on paper and being able to simply write or draw the notes any way you want.

    Did you ever feel lost in college? Like I am rn? I'm a freshman but I've been finding everything so hard. Plus, I haven't been doing well at all on tests and essays. Any tips on this?

    How do you know what to include in your notes and what not to include so you don't end up just copying down the entire textbook?

    I am getting back on track with uni after a tough spring (including a fair amount of depression etc), and I'm slowly getting the good routines back. I mean, not falling on sleep on lectures is good for a start right? Yiey for me I guess. Either case. I still have loads of trouble with studying outside the lectures though. I go to campus everyday and the lectures are actually starting to feel better nowadays, *but* after/before the lecture it's just so hard for me to "just study". So I reacted when you at 5:33 said "when you're studying" and I though "wait a sec, I only study during class". I will have to change that sooner or later.
    But how? How do I study outside class, on my own? The concept of just taking up the book and learning from it feels so... I dunno, unnatural for me.
    Thanks for a great video!

    Maybe a video about things to bring to college that one may not initially think of? (About to start freshman year and I'm packing for my dorm 😂)
