Great video! I remember playing LCS in 2006 but I was too young to understand the game - same for VCS. On the contrary was always playing the main 3D games - III, VC and SA. I've recently sat down and started really exploring the two Stories games by starting with my favorite. Easter Eggs and Secrets. I briefly did this in 2018 but never broke the surface. My favorite thing about LCS is the outfits. I'm now preparing to dive deep into the story and so excited. These games seem so amazing.
For emulators gamepad is advisable, but not necessary, the controls can be set up on the keyboard + mouse, except that you will have to spend some time on the configuration
@@gabrielmartines3510 Yes, it is a combination of two primary factors: firstly, is what you mentioned which is Phil Collins' likeness. But that wouldn't be such a big deal if the game had sold really well.... It is one of the worst performing GTA games sales wise. So unfortunately that means that it is perceived as potentially too expensive and may not at this point recoup its costs to rerelease. This is especially sad to me because I actually prefer VCS to Vice City, but it is forever trapped on the PS2 and PSP.
LCS is the most nostalgic for me since it was the first GTA I managed to beat, as a kid. I previously had GTA 3, VC & SA for PS2, but those kept freezing on me at certain points. Even worse with SA, the lowrider mission had me stuck anyway. I didn't even unlock the 2nd island in any of the three before I later got'em again for Xbox. I just see LCS as an improved GTA 3. The only things I like more about 3 are the soundtrack and its eerie atmosphere. Though I do like that LCS didn't copy that and had a vibrant look, akin to Vice City.
@@Tommy43040 Mafia 3, whatever happened there... For real though, what kind of a mafia game is it when you're not in an actual mafia but instead in some rag tag team of 3 gangs lol
I don't know why but i like the vibrant colors of this game, sure liberty city gets alot of rain, i think the main point of this corrupt city is the people you meet in the game, from JD wanting to jump ship between two mafia families because he's Irish and the fact that he likes snuff films, to characters like Donald love he's a cannibal and he's politically corrupt by having toni blow up half of Staunton just to repay his debt to losing the vote to mayor odonovan, then you got characters like toshiko who's in a loveless relationship with her husband and wanting toni to take him out, just to realize that it wasn't worth it in the end and decides to isekai herself.
While I adore VCS cause the story and Radio was amazing there too. LCS is a pretty unique gem too and I agree. I would just love both LCS and VCS to get PC ports. Don't care if they are late, but it would be so nice to finally have easier access to those two games. Cause outside of the unofficial GTA Re: LCS port TC mod for VC that happened like last year before the author removed it, there isn't really a more modern way to play. Unless you grab the mobile port
LCS was my second GTA game after SA and I always enjoyed playing it. I still have the CD and my working PS2, although I also got the mobile port as well as on my PC via PS2 emulators. I've always found it much better and enjoyable than GTA 3, as LCS is based on the Vice City engine with a few things from San Andreas here and there (such as the HUD, animations, or the target changing color with the ennemies health)
What I noticed immediately when I played it back in the day and when I replay it on my phone now is that it's _refined._ LCS doesn't do anything new but it does everything GTA was known for mechanically up to its release Perfectly. It feels great, and it's incredibly nostalgic in how it went back to their first 3D city and explored it in new and interesting ways. It's GTA 3 done right at its core, and while its story is lacking, you are complete right about its humor being among the best in the 3D era of GTA (3D era is III through to Vice City Stories, to the uninitiated) If LCS were ever to be ported to modern systems, I just want draw distance massively inproved, for the snow tier of difficulty in the vehicle salesman side missions to be enabled (because they arent on PS2 and mobile), for high quality audio for the radio, and for the textures and models to be the raw uncompressed originals that Rockstar originally created. Also I'd just want the game ported to PC but that is a pipe dream. LCS was the first game I ever 100% completed on PSP. I think it was the first game I ever loved enough to endure even the more frustrating side missions. Even though I grew up playing III VC, and SA, and even having played VCS, there's just something about Liberty City Stories' simplicity that cant be beat for me. It's my absolute favorite in the series.
@gamecubeplayer honestly, when they released the definitive trilogy I was upset for a lot of reasons. They really act like the stories games didn't happen, and I really wish they would put more respect on them. The 3D era GTA games are a tetralogy, not a trilogy. Unfortunately, VCS features Phil Collins' likeness and as a result would be more expensive. Unfortunately, Vice City Stories was also one of the lowest performing games as well, so that increases the unlikelihood that it will ever be re-released. It is just not worth the cost which sucks.
GTA LCS is much better than GTA 3, and they are useing the same map. You have the same map in both games, but you don't have too many boats, at least a hellicopter to use, just one plane to use, no motocicle and no entrance is almost no one building in GTA 3, and that is a shame.
While the plot has certain obvious weaknesses, it also is one of the most ambitious ones in terms of the overall scale; as Toni you're involved in a large scale city-wide mob war turned international, and you do the following: Assassinating the mayor(!) of Liberty City Assassinating a boss of another mafia family (Sindacco) and effectively WIPING OUT almost the entire said family from at least Liberty City Assassinating the head of a prominent Yakuza organization in all of LC Leveling down an entire Italian neighborhood, killing who knows how many civilians Possibly assassinating another boss of a rival mafia family (Forelli) doing the previous thing, while whittling that family down to a status that they're not even considered a serious family no more Assassinating a high ranking head of a mafia family from abroad (Torini of the Sicilian mob) and forcing peace on Salvatore's conditions on the war Instating the new LC mayor under Salvatore. Toni may not have been appreciated the way other protagonists have been by the end of their respective journeys, as he ends up with no major assets or much money like CJ, Tommy, Vic or even Claude, but damn if he accomplished some of the most insanely ambitious things ever. Like, all the accomplishments and the shit the other protagonists made are very larger than life, but Toni's takes the cake. It would be to no one's surprise if he ends up the boss after Salvatore's death, and undoubtably he'd be insanely powerful in that role (lore-wise and gameplay-wise it may hold water, given how the Leones start carrying those overpowered shotguns) and that truly would make him the most powerful GTA protagonist among the 3D universe ones.
