    My husband just bought this machine for me as a Christmas gift. It came in a set at Costco for $159.99 and included the frother. The frother retails for $99 alone (you can find it for $70 sometimes), so we felt this was a good deal. I made a latte with 1% milk this morning and it was professional quality. My husband thought the crema on top of his coffee was odd (he prefers a traditional brew), but he drank it. I love lattes, so I prefer this setup over our old Starbucks Verisimo (which relied on powdered milk capsules for the latte).

    OK but what's a review without saying if the coffee is good or not? How's the coffee and espresso? Is it as good as it looks or have you had better? If you've had better can you point us to the machine that made it?

    Only thing to add here is that the temperature for THIS brew was 160F, but each cup's barcode tells the machine what temp to brew the coffee....so it can vary depending on the coffee you put in.

    Nespresso knows how to design beautiful machines - this one reminds me of their gorgeous Gran Maestria - and as a tech lover, I'm amazed by the spinning capsules and reading of bar codes. But I hate that they introduced a new system. I'm glad that it is not replacing the original platform. Also, while the bar codes might have practical advantages, let's face it: They are Nespresso's Keurig 2.0. Their patents have expired, so they went out to create a new, even more closed system.
    What I really do like are higher-capacity capsules, though.

    I'm confused about the temperature.. You said said the beverage was 160 degrees but in the Verutoline vs Lattissima+ review I believe you said the Verutoline was 140 degrees and the Lattissima+ was 160. Then going further, during the Lattissima+ vs Pro review, you said the plus was 140 and Pro was 160. Can you provide clarification? Thanks..

    Just bought mine today at Target on sale for $174, tax $191. It had a sluggish start in the beginning (had to call customer service), but got it started finally. It made a pretty decent latte with the espresso pod having to use 2 of the pods for a "double shot" latte. For the price, it is a pretty decent machine. A lot better than my Keurig which I have been through 2 of them already.

    I have tasted the coffee and espresso from the Nespresso Vertuoline several times now, and reserved my machine yesterday. I am SO excited to have this machine and discover which coffee and espresso blends I prefer. I also have every intention of finding the perfect means to fill my own pods. Has anyone any advice re. which refillable pods work best with the vertuoline? I've watched a couple youtube videos, but don't know which direction to go yet. Thanks in Advance for any assistance!

    If I can ask a follow-up question. Can the centrifuge process be measured in pressure or bars? Nespresso has gone out of their way to have every espresso machine rated at 19 bars. Is there a bar equivalent to the vertuoline and have you attempted to measure it? Thank you

    Hi there, thanks for this video. My wife and I just purchased this very machine. Can you please explain how to do the cleaning cycle. Something about pushing the single button 3 times in 2 seconds, which I just can't figure out. We love the machine, and I just learned how to make a coffer or espresso so happy about it. Did not understand the included instructions.

    how exactly the water goes in and from which hole in the capsule the coffee comes out? so, there is spin but no pressure?
    also, in the old nespresso capsules sleeve, says there is 5g and 6g for lungos.

    Hi, I'm wondering how the espresso is from this. I'm actually not that interested in regular coffee, but this was cheaper than the Pixie. I'm trying to make sure the quality of espresso is as good as the Pixie's, especially as I've read a lot of criticisms of the coffee it produces. Also, are all the same options of espresso capsules available in the new size? I wouldn't want to limit my options by not choosing the Pixie. Thanks! Great videos!

    Really wish they'd incorporated a window on the top of the machine so you can see the disc spin. Tassimo did this with their original machine by Braun. Unfortunately they took that away and no one's replicated it. :-/

    Hi. It says the machine uses 1350 Watts. I don't know much about these machines but power use is a concern to me as I have limited power available to me where I'd like to put the machine if I bought one, which is near my 2 computers so I can quickly make a fresh cup while I'm trading stocks (I trade in the basement of an older house). I'm wondering, once you pull the lever, how long does the machine use near 1350 Watts of power...is it for the full 9 minutes until the auto shutoff, or if it's only until the coffee is made, then how low does the power consumption go for the remainder of the 9 minutes. I think the max safe power use for one circuit is under 1800 watts so I'd have to use my Kill a Watt meter (they're about $30) to determine the current load on my circuits so I can figure out if I can arrange my things (like computer monitors etc) to make room for the power that the Nespresso machine uses, and if I can't make enough room perhaps I could just turn off a few computer monitors while the coffee is being made, but I don't want to turn them off for 9 minutes. Anyway, if you can't supply that wattage use info, no problem,...it was still a good review thanks.

    • @kasziel
      @kasziel 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      9 minutes are only the amount of time before the machine goes off to save energy. but u can switch it off right after your coffee is ready. making it all together probably less than 2 min.

    I've had the Keurig AND the Tassimo -- so now we've just bought the Nespresso Virtuoline. The SAMPLE coffee at the store tasted amazing! I have to say, I see more innovation in fending off third party pod makers (new more unusual size and the bar code) than I do in making espresso in this machine. The ability to make coffee and espresso in one machine is tempting but I make coffee only for guest and those guest normally just like folgers out of a can in a drip machine (otherwise they would prefer espresso right?). How are the new espresso pods, does the additional weight in them or the spin tech impact flavor?

    Is it crema, or is it foam? Pod costs is the deal killer for me (especially for just coffee). Espresso has a better price/convenience factor for pods because of how much trouble you have to go through to make espresso, not so much for coffee.

      SchneiderMan I had my suspicions.

    • @jamesavery7037
      @jamesavery7037 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      SchneiderMan Not true at all. The crema is a function of the brewing process. Espresso is typically brewed at high water temperature and pressure which produces the crema. With spinning the capsule at upwards of 7,000 RPM's the water is forced through at very high pressure as well.

    Hi I just like to comment, These capsule are used for their commercial machines in offices etc. So it looks like they may be starting to move it to domestic too. As I read your comment, their patent has expired on the other type of capsules so maybe they are going to faze them out? They cant keep changing capsules just because of patents! That would be a bad move of their part and frustrating on ours.

      i have the Technovorm coffee maker (considered one of the best in the world) and it only dispenses coffee at about 160 degrees.. that's hot enuf for most people.. Its the BREWING temperature (210-215) which is critical in making a coffee

    • @gburgess01
      @gburgess01 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stephen Rudolph Exactly! My Keurig adjusts from 185 to 192 degrees. I checked the temp in the cup and it was about 180 and dropped to around 160 in less than 10 minutes. The higher brewing temp gets the oils out of the coffee and produces the crema and with good quality dark coffee I can actually see a small ring of crema out of my Keurig but nowhere near as much as my La Pavoni pump expresso. I'd still like to see if the temperature really varies in the Vertuoline according to the bar code the way their facebook response said it does; they were vague...

  • @AmoebaCulture
    @AmoebaCulture 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The foam actually isn’t crema; it’s simply a result of aeration from high spin speed. If you brewed your own coffee and put it on a mixer, you would get the same result. It is a bit gimmicky as it doesn’t even taste like crema.

      The coffee capsules are reusable. Cut off the old cover. Wash well the capsule.Fill with your favorite coffee and press with a spoon. You now have choices. Recover with a piece of aluminum foil cut out to fit around the top and sealed. Or purchase a kit which has a filter,cover,sealer.

    As we all know Espresso is a process and not a drink. For the purist the way to make Espresso is by using pressure. Can you compare the centrifuge to the pressure system by declaring the physical reaction to the bean as the same even though the process is different? If there is a difference then can one call the drink espresso? I am not attempting to create controversy. I am truly curious if one can equate the two processes on the bean as the same. If it is not the same then did Nespresso come up with a better process or just a variation on a theme?

    If this guy wasn’t so in love with the sound of his own voice, this video could have been 5 minutes long instead of over 12. He says the same things, 5 different ways. Then ultimately fails to make an actual espresso to compare it with the new larger cup. What have I learned? Very little.

    I guess I will stand behind my machine also so I can remember left and right. "Of the machine" means relative to the (front of the) machine. The water is on the LEFT side of the machine. The pods dispense on the RIGHT side of the machine. Same with the incorrect lever instructions. All these homemade reviews that are improvised and not thought out or rehearsed are getting old.

    Kind of annoying when you change the camera angle to zoomed him with him out of focus and his head cut off as he's talking. If he was out of the shot, it'd feel better rather than it just seeming like a bad shot while he's talking.

    “Startin' from the BOTTOM... Jesus! Take three” ... That's what I call a nice freudian slip (!!!) To stick to the “bottom” line: “It makes a nice crema!” lol! Seriously, this machine simply add air (hence the centrifugal process) to the coffee at high speed, this is merely foam, same result as the foam atop the juice coming out from centrifugal ejection juicers...

    The crema IMO is very manufactured, and is not really crema but instead like whipped foam. Kinda disappointing. Much prefer the original espresso machines from nespresso and if I want a longer drink, I'll make an Americano.

    lets not forget WHY nespresso has introduced this ... Their Patent for the Nespresso Pods has expired, so ANYONE can make a nespresso pod. Everyone does it. When one of the major razor companies who had a 4 blade razor found competition to be too tough.. they introduced a 5 blade razor...
    will this Vertuoline really be worth garage-sale ing your older machine ?
    we await for the review.

    Coffee ''capsules''? I think they stopped calling them pods because aliens jump out of pods right before they attach onto your face. Anyway, has anyone ever tasted pod coffee that was any good? Really, I don't expect this pod craze to last. They should call these machines what they are - bug juice brewers

    Capsules (like Keureg), are BPA plastic bioweapons (Endocrine Disrupting Chemical/EDC); a carcinogen and estrogen mimicker. Note the rising number of men speaking/acting effeminately. Estrogen mimickers are in plastic (and HOT plastic is doubly bad), pesticides, weed killers, GMO's, fluoridated water, etc. Low testosterone has reached epidemic levels in both sexes. This leads to malignant tumors, feminization of men and hormonal imbalances in woman creating the obesity we are witnessing along with hair loss, thyroid issues, depression, anxiety and low energy levels. Go the old fashioned way with organic coffee in French Press or stainless steel Perculators. Standard coffee makers boil water in plastic. Stay away also from Starbucks; they are GMO, BPA, SOY, Eugenics Hubs. The people at the top of the International Corporate Cartel of tax exempt corporations do not have your best interests in mind. They admittedly work for those who desire population to decrease to 500 million worldwide. These BPA plastics are 1 in thousands to choose from and they change your DNA, lower sperm counts, effeminize, and cause cancer.

      That post is irrelevant here. Nespresso capsules are in aluminum which is completely recyclable. No plastic.
