Legend of Heroes Trails series, for those who are new you can try out Daybreak, it can be a good standalone start but it is recommended to play the previous entries too cause it's a continous series and references and characters from previous games cross over. Ys is also a good series however unlike the Trails series there aren't as many references to the previous games and each entry has new characters and they aren't mentioned again so like Final Fantasy you can start from any entry. Tokyo Xanadu is also a pretty good JRPG.
Excellent list! A top tier 10/10 JRPG in my opinion, is Valkyria Chronicles for modern JRPG. For classics, it is Valkyrie Profile and The Legend of Dragoons.
When I have over half of these and haven’t finished any of them yet. 😂 I’m trying to play Tales of Berseria and Persona 3 Reload. I just finished Persona 5 Royal for my first time ever. One of the best games I’ve ever played. The darker story of Persona 3 definitely draws you in though. I got like a dragon and like a dragon infinite wealth, but I want to play a couple other yakuza games I also got first…
If talk about jrpg, my 100/100 is Chrono Cross. I'm just hoping there's a time that this game remake happen when I'm still alive, but i know it will never happen. Because the game not really that popular and japanese people not really care about it....
If you like Scarlet Nexus i would recommend you Astral Chain on Switch, kinda similiar. And if you like Anime Games, Persona, Yakuza, Japan and perhaps the Trails series and Ys i would highly recommend "Tokyo Xanadu EX+" from Falcom. A story driven anime game that mixes Personas Demons and parallel world, Ys like faster action battle system, short and fast paced Dungeons, a city theme with a parallel world an monsters , hot wells, shrines, themes like Yakuza and Idols, love, loss, school life etc. together, with some of the social feeling of the Trails of cold Steel series. Highly entertaining if you don't hate anime, its like a playable anime. Its a bit shorter than Trails or Persona games, but very entertaining. I recommend all the Trails games as well, but they are slogs with great worldbuilding, and much to read, still, start with Trails in the Sky.
Unicorn Overlord hell yeah I probably wouldn't give Scarlet Nexus a 10/10 as the story is very silly and the way of handling the split story is just bad but the gameplay and VIBES and DESIGN are so good I think it's a 9/10.
List does not include Suikoden 2: 9/10 Honestly, I only like FFX and Persona 3 (original) I still need to play UO and Live a Live. Fascinating list overall :)
I know you said Rebirth is good but I could not get through FF7 remake intergrade. I put about 7 hours into it before I called it quits. I did not play the original which I wish I did. I am currently having a blast on FFX and enjoying it way more than the FF7 remake
My personal take on Final Fantasy games is that there are 3 distinct camps for determining the "best" one. X if it was one of your first exposures to the series, or you're desperate for a return to form of turn-based combat. VII if you're blinded mostly by nostalgia, though the remakes have been superb thus far. and VI which, for what a JRPG stands for and represents, will probably never be topped by another Final Fantasy game. Incredible story, incredible characters, and we'll likely never see a remaster as Square Enix said it would take 20 years. If you can tolerate or enjoy the pixel remaster, FFVI is the pinnacle of the series. As for the other game on here i disagree with, it has to be Persona 3 Reload. Its a good JRPG, its even the second best Persona game, but its not better than Persona 5 Royal. Reload has darker themes and a more mature story, but its pacing feels pretty horrid in the ending part of the game. The soundtrack, while good, is also not on the same level as 5's is to me. The thing that 3 reload has that is absolutely incredible over 5 is the UI. The GUI in P3R is gorgeous. The best way I can summarize my placement of P3R below P5R is that to me P3R felt ready to end, and that it was probably a dozen hours too long. P5R i didn't want to end, even after well over 120 hours. Other JRPGs i'd recommend here are the Octopath Travelers games, particularly 2. That's where the old turn-based Final Fantasy fans get their fix from Square Enix, and the games are fantastic. NieR Automata is also an incredibly solid game that i'd recommend to anyone.
Good for putting Xenoblade on Number One :) Some interesting choices, i like most of them, but i stopped some of them midway. Guess i should give FF 10 and Scarlet Nexus (i really liked it but it lost me after the very nice start, a bit repetitive) a second try. Tales of Bersia was good, and like a feverdream, i played it through while the 2017/18 flu hit me hard. A game about a sickness, played with fever, somehow fitting. But it helped me. Good story and lovable characters but imo the world was a bit underwhelming (graphics of the levels etc.). Personally i prefer the old Tales of games with 3d world maps (Abyss, Symphonia, Vesperia) and i also like a bit of sci-fi in them. Graces is a bit underrated imo too. But its a good Tales. Berseria plays in the same world as Zestiria if i'm right? I do like the FF7 Remake, but i have yet to play it thrugh, stopped in chapter 12. Its very well made but not perfect (the world, NPCs that look like tourists from real world, some Minigames and sidequests are boring and imo they could improve the world, locations and cities are stunning but all in all its not right there with the magic of the old FF7).
As someone who played Final Fantasy 1-10 when they came out, I have to disagree with you. I hated FFX to the point I put the controller down and haven’t played a Final Fantasy game since.
Great list! Didn't feel Scarlet Nexus so I can't say much about it but otherwise I agree on this list. Only one hard disagreement, as a huge tales of fan I felt Berseria was one of the weakest titles in the whole franchise. Combat felt stale and repetitive (a usual strong point for the series) , story was predictable (to be fair most of them are), characters were bland and annoying even (more so than usual for the weaker titles).
Berseria is horrible< but the story and voice acting is amazing I have read every dialoge in game. All are interesting. I recommend this game even if you are not into it's battle system
Thank you so much for your list!! I don't agree with FF7 and 10 or even Like a Dragon (I don't like a lot action jrpgs) but the rest is ok! Unicorn O is a masterpiece!
The fact that you cant level characters up in FFX without rotating them in to every battle even if they werent needed ruined the entire game for me. 6/10 Many characters would remain weak unless you took the time to have character come in to do essentially nothing, needlessly extending battle time. This was the dumbest decision by square. They should all have received experience whether they participated or not.
Well, I'll pick Persona 4 and 5 over 3 any day of the week, and FF9 over 10 too. Berseria is OK, but as Tales go, Eternia, Symphonia and Legendia will always be the best for me. (Even though Legendia is a bit weird). But the real question is... have you tried Trails? Persona 5 is probably the 10/10 jrpg, but as sagas go, you cant top Trails.
What? FF10 is most overhyped tilte in whole FF series. Lame protagonist, final boss that turned out to be a slap in the face for the player. Yes, story was solid, battle system was great. Good game but not 10/10
Another TH-cam list warrior with a remarkably bad opinion. Not only is a near perfect game hard to come by, but nothing in this list, outside of maybe Unicorn Overlord which is probably the closest to 10/10 this list will come and Live A Live which I haven't played, isn't heavily flawed that even an "opinion" can label it as near perfect. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is "definitely" a perfect game when the open world consists of so many padded fetch quests, like the three mako springs and three summon stones that are all QTEs, every chocobo stealth section with the worst stealth in ANY video game, mandatory pushing boxes in dungeons to specific areas over and over and over again(mine carts, vacuums, etc.) The combat is amazing but the chores that you have to work your way through, the padding that even the MAIN GAME has is not at all even close to a 10/10 game. Opinion is one thing but opinion can't just remove all of these issues(and the many others that I didn't list.) Berseria's revenge story, the one where halfway the game you fail and then oh, now we have to restart all the way across the world. Then there's the soulless kid who happens to look dead brother. Oh such an amazing story, 10/10. I mean, if they really wanted to make an amazing story, then they wouldn't have sat on Magilou and used her as sparingly as they did. Obviously Magilou's amazing scenes stick out as much as they do because of how sparingly they use her, but I'd rather have just seen more of Magilou throughout the game. Combat is pretty cool where you can customize any of your four face buttons with any of your attacks as your combos, but this removes all the A Artes and B Artes from Graces F and the combo system in Xillia with the Artes as finishers. It still has depth but it lacks the depth that the series initially brought on with Graces F. Yakuza used to be a great series but modern day Like a Dragon while still having the goofy side quests push the main game into what's kind of meme. Instead of the seriousness of the whole story even the main story to these games no longer takes itself seriously. Side quests have been visible since Yakuza 4 I think, but Like a Dragon's Yokohama has just expanded the city more than three times the size of Kamaruocho. Modern day open world just padding everything out. It's definitely not as bad as most but there's still so much running back and forth, seemingly slow even when you use taxis to get around. The combat is a meme. It's some of the worst RPG combat I've played, not because it's bad but because it's non essential. AoE effects and line effects that don't even matter because nine times out of 10, the enemies aren't in any sort of position to take advantage but it doesn't even matter because the combat is so stupidly easy that you just throw out your most powerful attacks, stun attacks, or healing spells when necessary to make your way through the game, with a hard mode that doesn't exist until you actually beat the game. The class system is a joke because changing classes literally makes you WEAKER. You have a level which determines your stats, but your class level ALSO DETERMINES YOUR STATS. You literally become weaker by changing classes and the fact that nearly all of your classes have many of the same skills and the ones that aren't the same are so similar that there's really no difference between class change. I get that Like a Dragon is not Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, but as I've played every other Yakuza game, it's a franchise that barely changes from one game to the next, and I'm certain that there's hardly anything really different at its core gameplay. They're not going to completely redesign the gameplay, that's not what this series does, it's all about reusing assets to make these big games. Final Fantasy 10 is perfect. It's so perfect, that every single combat situation is "common sense." There's a flying enemy, swap to Wakka, attack, OHKO, there's a fast ground enemy, swap to Tidus, attack, OHKO, there's an elemental enemy, swap to Lulu, cast the correct elemental spell, OHKO. Large enemy, swap to Wakka, Kimahri, Auron, attack with blind/defense down, or you'll probably have a lot of break weapons, attack with one of those and their low resistances will kill them immediately. Oh, it's time to level up, let me level up with the sphere grid by moving one space over, now let me level and choose ot level with the power sphere, now let me move on the sphere grid to the next one, let me now level with the agility sphere, now let me move past this blank one two to the next one, let me use another power sphere and an ability sphere for the next one. This is the first game, that's turned LEVELING UP INTO A PACING ISSUE. You'll have these people that are like, but, but, but, the expert sphere grid, you can customize your character anyway you want(mocking voice.) Customization defeats the purpose of this game and if you customize them by going to a different sphere grid, you're wasting levels on what makes the character valuable as that character. All of the characters can already OHKO their specific preference of enemy, by customizing and moving them out of their target sphere grid, you now lose stats that make them specifically designed for their mechanics. If you move Tidus to Auron's grid for example, you may start missing enemies that Tidus is built to hit and kill in an OHKO, same with Wakka. Infact, the expert sphere grid has far fewer sphere slots meaning that you can't even power yourself as high end game. So you're either grind early game, to go outside of your sphere grid to customize your character and then go back inside sphere grid or, just play through without the customization, without unlocking anything, then grind at the end game. You're going to unlock everything anyways and you're not going to ruin your character as they were designed to be played. On paper, Final Fantasy 10 sounds amazing. But the fact that the game is literally COMMON SENSE and all you do is follow that common sense to kill every enemy you come across in a single hit. And I'm only now bringing up that everyone doesn't get experience points, if you actually play efficient, you'll rarely ever bring Yuna out in combat, so Yuna would never gain experience, and everyone else that's not needed would never get experience so everyone and their grandmother, kills off two enemies of the three and then defend with every character, then kill off the last enemy so every character gets experience. But yeah, Final Fantasy 10. Perfect 10/10 game. Lol. I think I've made my point.
I love that your like this one will be controversial and mention a good game. I'm going give true controversial option. Rebirth sucked. It is the worst game I've played in years. Cloud brings them entire character writing down to the point I'm unable to believe the characters would tolerate him. The pacing of the game is annoying as it includes useless mini games that never get used again, a majority of the side content is hard to believe the party would do while so focused on stopping Sephiroth. They just reused what made other FF games stand out and it's an all collage of crap. If I could actually rate it lower than 0 I would, but not worth playing is as low as I can say for it.
@@Faithaven oh I know they're not I only did like 4. It doesn't change the fact the game has problems and it's not anywhere near the 10 of 10 they say. The sections where you play as other characters to do things that you'll only ever do in that one area is ridiculous. I find the portrayal of cloud and his mental problems completely lacking in believability. I think it's laughable the rest of the party still thinks they need him after he's turned traitorous a number of times, he's clearly a risk. I could go on and on.
@@LoliO. I said this on another post, but content being optional doesn’t give it a pass to be unbearable. Remake was a delight to complete, resident evil begs you to complete it, even older assassins creed games are a joy to complete. I wanted the extra content. With rebirth the extra content is a chore. You can ignore it, sure, but without it you have to ask - is the game worth 70.00 without the mini game filler? I would argue that it isn’t.
@@dalerenner5942 I am with you entirely in this opinion. Side content should expand the experience, not detract from it. I don't think I'd give any of those a 10/10. Thousand Year Door is good, but I prefer the previous game, and even that doesn't merit a perfect score. Persona 3 Reload fixes some problems I had with the original version, but doesn't fix the biggest; I'll take 4 and 5, easily. FFVII Rebirth continues the butchering of the original story. And Final Fantasy X, a 10/10? Not even close. A whiny, stupid manchild for an MC, an equally stupid doormat as main girl, a romance that makes Anakin/Padme look tolerable, terrible voice acting, painfully constricted areas, nonsensical cosmology, mediocre OST, it's the first actively bad game in the series.
Am I the only person who absulutley hates FF 10? It's the second worst FF after 2 for me. Worst thing for me is the sphere grid where you have click through all that shit for erveryone after every level up instead of them gaining at least the satts naturally. I don't like tidus, I don't like the voice acting. I'm actually struggling to say anything positive about that game.
That’s wild, DQ11 is not better than FF10. Also Infinite Wealth, Berseria, Persona 3, Unicorn Overlord are trash? I think you should probably play a different genre of game tbh. JRPGs might not be for you.
Why do they "Need" to represent anyone ? They are fantasy . Why do they not represent midgets , paraplegic, elderly , disfigured people ??? What an idiotic reason to not play a genre

Unicorn overlord made the list despite being a new game, W list
FFVII REBIRTH is a piece of art. Waiting for FFVII RE???? To Surpass it in 2027.
Reunion
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is my favorite videogame of all time
Together with Xenoblade 2 for me.
I couldn't find "Unicorn" anywhere, unfortunately (but holy cow, just a search for a few minutes was a bizarre rabbit hole).
Yoo scarlet ! My boi Yuito finally getting the love he deserves ahah
Great list! New to your channel but looks like you have some great content! :D
Thank you, that means a lot! I’m a big fan of your content as well!
@@slam-zany Oh wow, small world!!! I’m glad I found your channel then!
Excellent list! A top tier 10/10 JRPG in my opinion, is Valkyria Chronicles for modern JRPG. For classics, it is Valkyrie Profile and The Legend of Dragoons.
Shin Megami V: Vengeance and Shin Megami III: Nocturne are two of my favorite games behind Final Fantasy and Persona.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is one of the best JRPGs I’ve ever played. Instant masterpiece and probably the best Ys game to date
your taste is based 💯 I also love Berseria and FFX 💖 and the other games are on my plan to play list 👀
Queens blood is one of those mini-games... "alright just another game..." if they made a mobile game on it, I'd be done for!
rebirth is great but i recommend playing remake before getting into ff7 rebirth
Lost Odyssey needs to be on this list
I'm not convinced this entire video isn't just rage bait
Have you tried disgaea? So hyped to see scarlet nexus!
Great list, you left out Ys VIII in my opinion
When I have over half of these and haven’t finished any of them yet. 😂 I’m trying to play Tales of Berseria and Persona 3 Reload. I just finished Persona 5 Royal for my first time ever. One of the best games I’ve ever played. The darker story of Persona 3 definitely draws you in though. I got like a dragon and like a dragon infinite wealth, but I want to play a couple other yakuza games I also got first…
Now, the only question that matters. Queen’s blood or Gwent??
I'm not heavy into JRPG but love Persona series. Also this game that is not JRPG but tactical and I heavily adore, Fire Emblem series.
Unicorn Overlord hell yeah
I probably wouldn't give Scarlet Nexus a 10/10 as the story is very silly and the way of handling the split story is just bad but the gameplay and VIBES and DESIGN are so good I think it's a 9/10.
List does not include Suikoden 2: 9/10
Honestly, I only like FFX and Persona 3 (original)
I still need to play UO and Live a Live.
Fascinating list overall :)
Another 10/10 Jrpg for me is Fate Grand Order. I literally spend thousand of hours in FGO.
How much better is infinite wealth vs like a dragon as that was hard to keep playing after chapter 12 or so
please make video about games that you play more than 2 times
Scarlet Nexus a 10/10? It's good but I won't say it's a 10. The combat's a 10/10 tho.
I played the demo of unicorn overlord and loved the whole vibe but the auto battles just put me off. Maybe I should give it another go
As someone who played Final Fantasy 1-10 when they came out, I have to disagree with you. I hated FFX to the point I put the controller down and haven’t played a Final Fantasy game since.
some good games but I would rather play Octopath traveler.
So frustrating that neither Fire Emblem or Univorn Overlord are for PC...
@@ymotle Well, not officially anyhow
@@lordkhan yeah but I tried to emulate and works poorly or has denuovo protection
Clutching straws here, no way tales of Berseria and scarlet nexus are 10/10 games.
Great list! Didn't feel Scarlet Nexus so I can't say much about it but otherwise I agree on this list. Only one hard disagreement, as a huge tales of fan I felt Berseria was one of the weakest titles in the whole franchise. Combat felt stale and repetitive (a usual strong point for the series) , story was predictable (to be fair most of them are), characters were bland and annoying even (more so than usual for the weaker titles).
try Disco elysium!
scarlet nexus have great story, it have much better potential than god eater
Berseria is horrible< but the story and voice acting is amazing I have read every dialoge in game. All are interesting. I recommend this game even if you are not into it's battle system
Thank you so much for your list!! I don't agree with FF7 and 10 or even Like a Dragon (I don't like a lot action jrpgs) but the rest is ok! Unicorn O is a masterpiece!
Lost Odyssey
Lots of 7/10 games
I hated Xenoblade 3 and Rebirth is 8/10 for me (too long and too many mini games)
The fact that you cant level characters up in FFX without rotating them in to every battle even if they werent needed ruined the entire game for me. 6/10
Many characters would remain weak unless you took the time to have character come in to do essentially nothing, needlessly extending battle time.
No Trails franchise? It surpasses all the games on this list I was expecting it to be number 1
Trails is bad and not even close to these games
Rean is the worst MC ever and the curse plot is awful
I regret how much time I wasted with this cr4p
I have played 4 of these, only one of those 4 I would give a 10
FFX woukd be a 10 for me if it weren’t for the sport ball and leveling system
What? FF10 is most overhyped tilte in whole FF series. Lame protagonist, final boss that turned out to be a slap in the face for the player. Yes, story was solid, battle system was great. Good game but not 10/10
I sadly couldn't fully enjoy the FFX ending because it was just pokemon mistery dungeon explorer of sky's ending (and I played pokemon before FFX)
my main problem in the list is paper mario, seems fun but it aint too easy? are there challenges in the game?
there's a sudo hardmode if you equip badges that make you take twice the damage etc
Persona 3 was mid 5 was better
My favourite persona in order is 4,3 and 5 but I will say the ending for persona 5 is amazing.
Putting tales of berseria... while vesperia is there is just madness.... everything is wrong happened to berseria.

It’s nice to see someone not creaming themselves over DQ11.
Opinion is one thing but opinion can't just remove all of these issues(and the many others that I didn't list.)
Berseria's revenge story, the one where halfway the game you fail and then oh, now we have to restart all the way across the world.
Kingdom hearts not being here is hugely disappointing
Umm the side quests aren’t even required. Stick to your polygons then. I cannot even play the original anymore. Outdated and did not age well
@@Faithaven oh I know they're not I only did like 4.
@@LoliO.what a fucking idiot I’m assuming you didn’t play the original rebirth is an ADAPTATION. 10/10 one at that
I have a lot of problems with rebirth and I still stand that it's actually a bad game, I get that out centers on the low point of ff7 but it just isn't good even setting that aside
Metaphor >>>>>>> Rebirth
I don't think I'd give any of those a 10/10. Thousand Year Door is good, but I prefer the previous game, and even that doesn't merit a perfect score. Persona 3 Reload fixes some problems I had with the original version, but doesn't fix the biggest; I'll take 4 and 5, easily. FFVII Rebirth continues the butchering of the original story. And Final Fantasy X, a 10/10? Not even close. A whiny, stupid manchild for an MC, an equally stupid doormat as main girl, a romance that makes Anakin/Padme look tolerable, terrible voice acting, painfully constricted areas, nonsensical cosmology, mediocre OST, it's the first actively bad game in the series.
videogames are not for you bro ahahahaha
@@Andreauni10 Such a cutting retort. /s
Yep, all of the games do some aspect badly
Tales of Berseria is so generic
Am I the only person who absulutley hates FF 10? It's the second worst FF after 2 for me. Worst thing for me is the sphere grid where you have click through all that shit for erveryone after every level up instead of them gaining at least the satts naturally. I don't like tidus, I don't like the voice acting. I'm actually struggling to say anything positive about that game.
Rebirth and Xenoblade 3 are probably one of the worst rpg's I've played. Such a shame because I love FFVII and Xenogears.
This list is trash 50% are average at best
But as much as I love Xenoblade and FF10
Dragon quest 11 is way better
Dq11 >FFX is the wildest opinion ever😂
That’s wild, DQ11 is not better than FF10. Also Infinite Wealth, Berseria, Persona 3, Unicorn Overlord are trash? I think you should probably play a different genre of game tbh. JRPGs might not be for you.
Jrpg were my thing for a long time but their inability to represent LGBT people turned me off from it entirely
Why do they "Need" to represent anyone ? They are fantasy . Why do they not represent midgets , paraplegic, elderly , disfigured people ??? What an idiotic reason to not play a genre
