Alpharex Full LED Headlights on a 2012 Toyota Sequoia Platinum - Install and fix

- This is not an install video however, watching this will give you a good understanding at how to install these headlights in a 2nd Gen Sequoia and pretty sure a 2nd gen Tundra. This video will show you how to fix what I think is a major problem with these Alpharex headlights. Well, I guess it wouldn't be such a big problem if Alpharex would release some actual install directions and provided a solution to the problem I had. Don't get me wrong, I think these headlights look absolutely AMAZING and I love the way it makes my Sequoia front end look but after spending over $500 on these just to not have them work properly is quite annoying. I have reached out to the company I purchased them from and they can't seem to find a solution and I ultimately tried to contact Alpharex for some tech support but I have yet to hear from them. I have had a few online chats with a couple people at Alpharex through text and Instagram but no solution was provided.
With that being said, I decided to dig into the headlight wiring with a multimeter and finally found a solution that seems to work now but I hope it is a permanent solution.
I also wanted to add that I have been searching tirelessly over the past 3 plus weeks on fixing this problem. All over the web, all over TH-cam, even resorting to asking users on Facebook and Instagram that have Alpharex headlights if they had the same issue. I hope this video helps out anyone out there that comes across the same problem.

Thank you for the detailed explanation of how you solved this issue. This helped me solve my issue with my sequential signals. I had accidentally wired my turn signal bulb directly and skipped attaching to the harness first and then using their bulb adapter.
Nice work there. I have same set of lights. Mine came with wires just for that configuration that goes into the fuse box. It all depends on the type off light on the vehicle. Some models alreadyhave those plug in ro where you dont need that extra cable. So previously if you bought the light without the cable you had to pay Extra but now they include it I guess also depending on the seller.
This fix worked for my truck too but instead of using 2 connectors and a piece of wire I cut the connector off and used one scotch lock per side and it worked perfectly took about 10 minutes maybe less to do both sides

@@OverlandBeanies so it seems after doing the splice i got my ambers running as parking lights just the way i wanted. So glad i didnt have to do anything else. Now i can say these are comparable to the morimotos. I was a little upset about the way morimotos worked better. Bow im a satisfied alpharex customer

Hey, I think the low and high beams are very good in these Alpharex headlights. They have a nice uniform beam and work great. Definitely recommend.
There should be instructions with options on how to wire this up for your liking. For Instance I would prefer to run my led bars off the park light switch but then need to custom wire up the drl harness so i can run full brightness. The fact i need another clip in component to run full brightness on top of the 1st harness is rediculous. I love these lights but they seemed to just make them and send them out instead of putting together better marketing.

They are doing great!! The headlights are holding up quite well. Light output is great still and the amber sequential leds are running perfect.
question i have the same headlights now i was wondering how you got the grill lights to work since the alpharex DLR lights has the fuse that gos in the fuse box and the grill has the same how did you get them to work together. im about to buy the same grill
I ran the grill lights to the inside of the cab to my parking lights fuse.

Had the same problem with my 2006 Tacoma and Alpharex sent me a updated harness now the passenger side works driver side don't. Only if the ignition on both sides work

I found mine on eBay. If you search online for TRD style Sequoia grill, you can find it available sometimes. It comes and goes. I had a link but that seller doesn't sell it anymore so the link doesn't work anymore.

What size LED do these run? For the low beam and high beam
That is the only drawback on these crystal LED model. The leds are built in so they are not replaceable. I'm sure if you open them up, you can find some sort of replacement but leds are supposed to last 30,000+ hours so I figure I'm good for at least 3-5 years of use.
How did you route the raptor light cables ? I have a 2011 tundra where the grill is attached to the hood like yours
Hey, I routed them along the hood, down to where the hood hinge is, and then along the fender to the battery and fuse box. I'll try to take some pictures when I get home.
You do use the yellow wire that's why it's not working if you get the harness without the yellow wire then you don't need to but if your harness comes with the yellow wire plug it into your driver's side headlight that's what I did and it works perfectly
I read reviews that talk of condensation. How have you solved this problem if any?
I have same type of lights on my 2017 tundra. When I bought it I add warranty on it. The other way most people fix it is putting a seal around the light before installing. You can get one of those headlight seals from auto part stores.
Do you have any night shots of just the headlight on? Without any fogs or extra lights on? I want to see the cut off line on those. Thank you

I have 275/70 18 Falken Wildpeak AT3w tires on 18"x9 Icon Rebound wheels with a +25 offset. I just have the Revtek 2" front spacer lift with the adjusted factory rear air suspension. I will eventually upgrade it to a full suspension. The grill I found on Ebay, make sure find the one that includes the raptor leds and costs around $200. The grill came with the Toyota letters and the raptor lights. Make sure you find the right one on Ebay that has everything with it.

I think you do lose the auto adjusting. Pretty sure that feature is built into the factory headlights.

Hey, thanks for checking out the video. I found my grill on eBay but I don't see it available anymore. I think your best option is to buy an oem TRD Pro grill from Toyota. They are pretty spendy at around $400-$500 dollars. Or last resort is to keep checking eBay every now and then to see if the aftermarket one becomes available again.

I have the same problem. Pro series Alpharex on a 2006 Tacoma, will this fix work on it too?
I'm fairly sure that it will work for you as long as you have the similar wire connections. The main connection is the extra yellow plug that doesn't plug into anything connected to the headlight side of the turn signal positive. If you have those two wires than it should work the same.
@@OverlandBeanies my harness doesn't have the long yellow wire however coming off my pro headlight is a short yellow wire with a black connector which is connected to anything.

Ok. 1) where did you get the grill? 2) Why does no one do actual light output videos? What does the light output look like? Better or worse than OEM?
I got the grill off eBay but it looks like they are no longer available right now. I don't have a light meter but I will tell you that these work way better than my OEM headlights WITH LED bulbs. I am really happy with the performance and look of these Alpharex headlights, definitely recommend.

Unfortunately, it is not TRD. It's aftermarket off Ebay. Lol
Do they flash when you use the key fob to lock and unlock? Mine don’t do that but otherwise everything else works
When I first installed them, they didn't flash with my key fob while locking and unlocking. They also didn't flash when I had my hazards on with out the car started. Thatz why I made this video to fix that issue. The lights look amazing but it was bugging the crap out of me that they didn't flash correctly when off. If you follow my video and connect the wires like I did, they will start flashing with your key fob lock and unlock. I don't know if this is the solution that Alpharex would have given me but I couldn't get any tech support from them so this is the solution I came up with. And so far, they work perfect. Hope this helps.

Hey. No issues at all. I think it comes with a one year warranty. I think they are definitely worth it.

All I see on Ebay now is the oem Sequoia TRD Pro grill which is $400-$500. I would check back on ebay every now and then to see if my aftermarket grill pops back up. Thanks.

These are Alpharex brand headlights. www.modifystreet.com sells Alpharex headlights but not the model I'm running.
With these headlights can you change out the led or is it sealed?

What grill is that? Would it be possible to fit on a 13 tundra?
So to my understanding, the Sequoia grill is slightly lower on the bottom edge so you wouldn't be able to use the same grill on a Tundra. So for example, you can put a Tundra grill on a Sequoia but it leaves a slight gap between the grill and the bumper, but not vice versa though. At least this is what I found out with my research. Maybe you can do some slight modification for it to work but I don't know if that would be a good solution. Hope this helps.
