@tyreelittlejohn4026 research. There's a "dipstic" under the battery that can be used to fill it but no actual "stick" so just put the same amount back in that you drain out from the overflow underneath on the trans oil pan. There's a 10mil filler straw under the drain bolt. Easy easy. But also change the filter and trans cooler filter as well

Hello, I passed my 2018 Nissan kicks in flood water. It stopped immediately. I tried starting it several times but it won't start. I got burnt once on a 2011 Cube cvt rebuild that cost me in 2018 $3500 with one warranty or 12000 miles! However, after watching tons of videos why did we fail at 106,000 miles. The dealer never told me that there were filters inside that could be replaced! I did two drains & refills one complete filter was replaced at 50,000 miles, a total 91,000 miles on rebuild total on Cube 197,000!! Never again any CVT as a vehicle.
Yes it is. Sorry to hear about your troubles with such low mileage. Misfires can also cause that issue but its more often the transmission on the nissan sentra.
@@justcallmeeddie1 I just want an honest answer at this point. 😭.. I have the same problem mentioned here and I've had ppl tell me that it's no use changing the fluids (Nissan dealer tech said this) and he was the 2nd person to say that with the mileage I have (130,000) that it could risk the car not running anymore after the change. Another Nissan tech over the phone recommended the transmission fluid drain and fill, as it should be done every 30 to 60,000 miles or so. More ppl say that more than likely won't fix the problem. My question is, if it's recommended every 30,000+ miles, then why is it a risk to do so at this point.. even if it wouldn't stop the "rumble strip vibration".. *great description btw*.. Wouldn't it still be good to have it done? And couldn't it potentially lessen or eliminate the problem? I just think ppl want me to leave it with them to diagnose, which costs in itself, only to give me the highest quote possible and leave me with only the options of rebuilding or replacing the trans. If you could.. a little advisement regarding this would be greatly appreciated. Thx in advance
The staffer motor goes out on those transmissions, and people try to overcharge you for fixing them when it's only a little electric motor under the vowel body called a staffer motor
I know people are crazy. You will see a recurring theme on my channel and with the cars i buy/ end up with most are broken due to improper maintenance. Thanks for the comment. Be sure to Subscribe.
Hey thanks for the info I have a 2018 sentra with a bad cvt I am planning on replaced myself. I am a tech but i dont know if it needs to be programed aftet replaced?
Yes it will need to be programmed. You will most likely have to tow it to the dealer after installing it to program. I have used mobile programers before also. You can program yourself with the right programming hardware and software.
You need a Nissan Consult III plus to program the TCM, the other option is carry over the ROM chip from your old transmission and reset your trans adaptations with a Autel/Launch/Snap-On scan tool.
Hey bud, i have a 2019 nissan sentra non turbo with cvt transmission. I am ocd about my car maintenance and replaced transmission fluid and filters every 35,000 miles. The car currently has 120,000miles and it runs great. How many more do you think i can get out of it?
Help me ma Nissan sentra 2014 is making noise and all garage are telling me to change gear 😢 but t its expensive am asking can this problem be solved by repairing ? Or it cant be repaired?
Drove a 2024 Altima SV as a rental. This is the most uninspiring vehicle I've ever driven. Feels ultra cheap, doesn't ride particularly comfortably and the materials feel like they were pulled right out from the budget bin. The CVT makes the engine loudly drone under load and the vehicle feels more sluggish than a 2011 Corolla we once owned. If I owned one, I'd have little confidence this vehicle would be reliable 3-5 years down the road. For a brand that advertises 'performance' and 'sportiness', this thing is an embarrassment.
I got a quote from Nissan how much it is for a new transmission and other things wrong with it. But how much would someone other than Nissan would charge to replace the Trans if I bought the Transmission at Texas, Houston? I'm at 98k miles and not ready for a new whip, lol.
I have a 2018 Nissan Sentra and when I accelerate it sounds loud and I don't feel that the changes are made fluidly, this has to do with the transmission, right?
My 2015 Sentra’s transmission has went out.. someone told me about the year and model they didn’t do so good so I have started to research it because I thought buying a new transmission would be the better thing to do, especially with everything I have going on. Thank you so much for this video. I’m sad, I thought I had a real beauty and im still lost a bit but your sharing of knowledge omg is power. How long would a new transmission last? If you don’t have a good job for new payments, should you just fix the transmission? ThankYou for all the advice.
Nice video. I have a b15 2002 with low miles I had sitting for a long time. It was my first car. It gave me headaches throughout the years but she’s a rock all in all. I have a modern new suv to enjoy with my family but I wanted to buy a used 2012 sentra 2.0. Do you think the b16 sentra 06-12 are good sentras? I hear most all complaints are linked to the b17 sentras from 2013-+
Replacing a CVT may sound like the thing to do but they can be $8000. Right about now my 2017 Rogue is not worth a lot more than that. No, I don't plan to replace the transmission if it fails. Pay that for more of the same, heck no! Make no mistake, they are great when new like a lot of vehicles are. It is when they start accumulating miles they wear out and become sluggish. The difference is that some Nissans fail sooner. I heard of one failing with 20,000 miles. Never mind it was still under warranty. It just shows how crappy they really are. You would not want one of these when the warranty is over.
Help me. Nissan Versa 2012 year. I just changed the cvt oil along with the filters. Traction occurs when the speed is 100-120 km/h. Sometimes it happens at a lower speed. What spare parts are you saying to change. Cvt repair is very expensive here.
it might be ur clutch disk depends on the oil u took out of it was dark black then u should have put it back as it has all the materials from ur cvt mainly the clutch disk and now that u put new oil in and flushed out the oil oil with the material in it ur cvt might slip. from cvt owner to cvt owner accelerate ur car slowly and maintain a certain range of speed don’t go from 30 to 60 then 60 to 30 continuously it will damage ur belt hope this helps 👍🏽 just slowly work ur way up and maintain that speed try to break smooth as well
Don’t service them? It states right in the owners manual all you have to do is read it. Service it every 30 k . So many run the shit out of these cars. They are economical not a sports car. Inexpensive car, with people not taking care of them. Then cry when they break look at the inside of that car? You said clean , there’s NOTHING clean about it . The inside was taken care of as well as the mechanical.
I agree Service them every 30k. It's the dealerships that tell consumers that not Nissan engineering per say. You're right people drive these cars into the ground and they we designed for economical driving but Nissan takes advantage of that by giving these cars weaker transmissions than the later models so they can sell more transmissions and new cars.
30,000 miles for a $300 dollar job, it was $369 for me cause they quoted me the old price. The hell with that give me a regular automatic transmission or I will learn to drive stick shift. CVT are trash and do not have a good lifespan, 200,000 if you baby the thing.
They are junk. Doing the fluid change does not guarantee they will not fail. We maintained ours and did changes and it ahit the bed at 116000 kms. Rest of the car is mint but replacing the transmission is half the resale price. Will never buy another Nissan
Bought a 2017 sentra at 97k miles and transmission broke within 5k miles of owning it. Got it replaced and 5k later the new transmission broke. Shits trash
Part of the issue with these Nissans is the deaker. One will say serivice the trans at one mileage, another a different mileage and another will say there is no fluid service for that vehicle. Manual says "check the fluid" at a certain mileage, manufacturer has no dipstick to si thst with...but they will sell you one on the Nissan parts site. Change the oil every 5000 mls with synth, service the CVT by every 60K mls and decrease that interval by how hard the vehicle is driven (heavy foot, hard accels, heavy weight, towing). Nissans are cheap due to cheap parts. Cheap parts require better care (be careful removing that intake hose when checking the sir filter) and maintenance.
I ve 2018 sentra ..in fact i used to change cvt fluid and filters every year ...inspit of that i see my car now loosing its power with shifting noise ..my advice to keep away from awful jatco transmission!
I have vibration when accelerating. I asked one of the mechanic and he told me I have to change the CVT transmission. Knowing that my transmission fluid is less than it should be.. What do you advise me.. refill the liquid or change the transmission
I bought a new2007 Nissan Sentra with the cvt trans. I broke three transmissions before it hit 50k miles.. Nissan told me they wouldn’t replace another trans. and I traded it in the next day. Most of my driving was highway so that should have made it easier on the cvt. I will never buy another vehicle with a cvt, not even a Honda. They have had problems too.
Hi, can they make cars transmission easy to fix belts so it's done the same day. Like easy as changing your alternator. Change a belt in transmission and your out the door. I had a transmission going out on a 2017 nissan sentra. Those cars are lemons. Lol "nissan"😮 I returned it back to the dealer. I still was making payments, stopped paying. I brought another nissan rogue. 2015.
Now that you took the bad one out, spin it and see if you can hear the sound. Or at least that is one way to test a part that you are not 100% sure is the one making that horrible noise.

You have to change the fluid! Dealerships are scammers and you all still LISTEN to them. They are NOT sealed transmissions, the fluid isn't good for 100k miles, 60k miles and imo not even 30k miles! Change it every 20k miles!
I have a 2014 center and I'll put in Gary. That's not running. I mean, it comes down and called the zombie, but if I'm trying to get it, don't go. You're a win when you put it in your fine. No problems don't have to work. We'll connect probably be.
What is the problem with saying the price you paid? Neither you on this video nor the commenters want to say. All of you say say “new transmission cost me a ton of money” or “the alternator was $100 less” or “the remanufactured part cost me big bucks”. How about the parts totaled $1500 or the new transmission was $2000 or the alternator was $200 at Oreilly’s but $100 less at this place. This is true everywhere on every video and from people in the comments. Please say the price!!!
"Nice and clean", that was funny. That car is a disaster. I'd hate to see one you call dirty. I'm an auto detailer, but even if I wasn't, the first thing you see is a crooked mat. Not an owner that takes care of anything, that's so basic; tire pressure also. That's probably why the CVT went bad (and everything else); not taking care of it. I have a 2017 Sentra with 65,000 and you can't drive them like you do a conventional transmission. You can't drive at high speeds, you cannot pass with it, you cannot tow with it. you can't push the gas and expect the overdrive you get from a conventional transmission. It goes 0 - 60 in about 3 months with only 124 HP and you must not try to change that. Drive it like you are 60, and it will be okay. Drive it like other cars and it will disappoint you. Change the oil regularly and check it before you drive it from whatever shop you choose to make sure they did it. I take mine to the dealer or do it myself. I was lucky and they gave me a new CVT ($5200 in 2023) under warranty, although I didn't notice anything wrong with it. But now, I will basically baby it for the second half of its life. But that car in the video was driven hard or something and neglected. That's a lot to be wrong at the same time. I haven't put anything but a battery into mine and it looks showroom new. I would have been embarrassed to have surrendered that car in that condition with trash and old food in it. "Clean"...really? I would love to have a Civic, but yeah it is more expensive and that is a deal maker and breaker. People who buy Sentras cannot afford a Honda. People how buy a Honda can't afford a Mercedes, and so on. It's easy to say, but not easy to do. I wanted a new car I could take care of as one owner, and the Sentra was it. I like it very much and don't intend on replacing it. I love not having a car payment and owning a car only I have sat in.
Nissan put out an unsafe car, not just junk, that will get you rear ended. Will randomly stop driving in traffic and you can press the gas and not move.

Yes it is. Sorry to hear about your troubles with such low mileage. Misfires can also cause that issue but its more often the transmission on the nissan sentra.
@@justcallmeeddie1 will the transmission oil change help? I read that in a lot of Nissan forums.
Will it make that sound in neutral too? The alternator? That’s what is happening to mine.
Great video man!!!! Highly informative and very useful!
Would a new valve body and stepper motor fix the tranny issue ?
The staffer motor goes out on those transmissions, and people try to overcharge you for fixing them when it's only a little electric motor under the vowel body called a staffer motor
these cars are daily drivers, not for spirited driving and change fluid around 25K. Do not tow its amazing I see hitches on these cars and the Versas!
I know people are crazy. You will see a recurring theme on my channel and with the cars i buy/ end up with most are broken due to improper maintenance. Thanks for the comment. Be sure to Subscribe.
How much was the CVT trans? what is a 12/12, 12 months and 12K miles warranty? Thank you Eddie.
Hey thanks for the info
I have a 2018 sentra with a bad cvt
I am planning on replaced myself.
I am a tech but i dont know if it needs to be programed aftet replaced?
Yes it will need to be programmed. You will most likely have to tow it to the dealer after installing it to program. I have used mobile programers before also. You can program yourself with the right programming hardware and software.
@@justcallmeeddie1 thanks a lot bro!!
@@justcallmeeddie1 I am going to get a Toyota better
What was the mileage?
Thankfully my 2013 is still running good.
Hope she can make it till tax time of next year…
Drove a 2024 Altima SV as a rental.
I have a 2018 Nissan Sentra and when I accelerate it sounds loud and I don't feel that the changes are made fluidly, this has to do with the transmission, right?
how much did it cost you? numbers.
my 2018 Sentra is starting to do the same thing. i need to know how much i’m looking at.
When do you recommend doing a tranmission fluid change for a 2020 Nissan Sentra S 28500 Miles?
Asap. I do a drain and fill once a year.
By servicing every 30k miles what do you exactly mean by that? Change filter and change fluid?
Is Nissan still using the JatCo?
My 2015 Sentra’s transmission has went out.. someone told me about the year and model they didn’t do so good so I have started to research it because I thought buying a new transmission would be the better thing to do, especially with everything I have going on. Thank you so much for this video. I’m sad, I thought I had a real beauty and im still lost a bit but your sharing of knowledge omg is power. How long would a new transmission last? If you don’t have a good job for new payments, should you just fix the transmission? ThankYou for all the advice.
Do what Im gonna do, manual trans swap
I hear most all complaints are linked to the b17 sentras from 2013-+
Stick with your B15, the b16 were cvt's now if you find a b16 or 17 with the manual transmission they are rock solid.
How do you like that solus edge
Did changing the alternator fix that loud noise you showed earlier in the video when looking under the hood?
Yes it did. Bad bearing in the alternator
Bought a 2017 sentra at 97k miles and transmission broke within 5k miles of owning it. Got it replaced and 5k later the new transmission broke. Shits trash
When selecting from 40 to 60 some noise and slowgish.
Thank you thank you
Best part of this video was the last part
Great advice 😆
I have been paying for step motor. Mine no ref at all
@justcallmeeddie1. How did you program the TCM?
I was thinking of buying a 2018 is the cvt weak in these years pls help ???
Yes it is. Common problem. Would suggest buying a toyota or honda instead.
I ve 2018 sentra ..in fact i used to change cvt fluid and filters every year ...inspit of that i see my car now loosing its power with shifting noise ..my advice to keep away from awful jatco transmission!
I used to have one of these. It seems like no matter how good you take care of it the transmission will still likely go out.
I have vibration when accelerating. I asked one of the mechanic and he told me I have to change the CVT transmission. Knowing that my transmission fluid is less than it should be.. What do you advise me.. refill the liquid or change the transmission
You can try to fill the transmission up to the proper level. If that doesnt help you need a transmission.
Thank you for this video it helped me so much I’m in the same situation with my Nissan 2015 :(
Those cars you mentioned all use a cvt.
Yes they do
Now that you took the bad one out, spin it and see if you can hear the sound. Or at least that is one way to test a part that you are not 100% sure is the one making that horrible noise.
Hello
i have a 2014 nissan sentra trans went out at 127000 they want 5000 to change it for a new one the dealer is the only one i found would change it out
Why even buy a remanufactured transmission just get another car and I bet it will be better than Nissan
Nissan has failed transmission simply
Thank you Eddie for a great video. It sure is informative and just right where it counts.
I’ve planning to buy nissan sentra 2020 GCC 100k driven is it good to buy?
How much was the transmission?
These transmissions are about 3,200 bucks at the dealer
I was just quoted $6000 to rebuild with new parts, replace pulley something, replace body something and catalytic. Does that sound right?
It includes part and labor. 1 yr warranty
Hey can I talk too you private I want too order a transimission
Email me justcallmeeddie1@gmail.com
How muck was the trans from Nissan
Price can vary but it's usually around $3200
A new transmission $3200 for a Nissan Sentra
How much the cost of a brand new cvt transmission of anissan sentra 2015 model
About 3500 plus another 1,200 to install and another 200 to program.
@@justcallmeeddie1take the eprom out the old transmission put it in the new one you have to reprogram it
@HotSizzleTv. What is a eprom?
Transmission replacement 6000 BUCKS as of 2//222024 RIDICULOUS!!
Catalysic?
Do you know how much cost a brand New or maybe rebuilt cvt transmission of a Nissan Sentra 2018? Please 🥲
Replacing mine next week 🚮💰
You have to change the fluid! Dealerships are scammers and you all still LISTEN to them. They are NOT sealed transmissions, the fluid isn't good for 100k miles, 60k miles and imo not even 30k miles! Change it every 20k miles!
I own a 07 Nissan Sentra cvt transmission and never had any problems lol
Anyone else catch how he said he would rather have a Honda civic, but those have a CVT too.
I have a 2014 center and I'll put in Gary. That's not running. I mean, it comes down and called the zombie, but if I'm trying to get it, don't go. You're a win when you put it in your fine. No problems don't have to work. We'll connect probably be.
I fixed a few of them transmissions on altimas 2012-2016 just by changing the two oil filters and oil. And worked fine
Car is manky dirty you can tell whoever owned it didn't care for the car
Its basically a torque converter like the ones on a go kart 🤦😆
Exactly
Spent all my money on this car, and now im living the reprocussions
My 2014 nissan sentra sitting in my driveway since transmission went in Nov 23...Just waiting to hit the lottery & buy another vehicle 😅
Still waitjng or you were able to fix it?
CVT'S JUNK
❤❤❤Good job
Nissan put out an unsafe car, not just junk, that will get you rear ended. Will randomly stop driving in traffic and you can press the gas and not move.
I hate it when mechanics drive my car with those dirty gloves and not wipe it down afterwards...but good video
Sorry man. I try to clean up all cars when I'm done driving them.
There is a recall on that Transmission towing free pick up the Nissan dealership has extended up 120 thousand miles. But any way this card are the worse sorry but here it goes THE BEST CAR IS TOYOTA PRIUS
hey man i just called for the warranty on the transmission. I am still unsure they knew what i was talking about cuz they just scheduled me in and didnt say anything lol... i have a 2016 sentra, with 83858 miles on it. Do you think theyll just fix it or replace it still? Does that car go up to 120k miles or is it 84k miles? If you dont know i understand, youre just the only comment talking about the warranty.
You don’t have the ability to repair it because the design is so bad. I’m using that one next time.
That sucks.
