Inspiring for sure! I've got a CJ-7 in the garage here that will be getting some of the same treatment over the winter. Thanks for sharing this, it'll definitely help me through those times when I wonder if it's all worth it. Love the finished product!
Had a 76 CJ-7. Bought it brand new $6000.00 even. Put over 300,000 miles on it. The best thing I did was getting rid of the 3 speed. It would leak almost all of the transmission fluid into the transfer case. They had a recall because of it. Put the T-18 4 speed in it and that was the only trouble I ever had with it.. I was lucky to have Moab like my back yard. I avoided the Easter mob at all costs. I know I'll be going to hell when I die, because every minute driving it I was heaven. Thank you for the post.
@@donniegriggs5878 As far as I know just 76. But the dealer repaired my 3 speed and month later I had to replace that 3 speed. That 3 speed last about 8 months and it did the same. That's when I found the 4 speed . T-18. That is a FANTASTIC trans. Hope that helps
Great song choice!! I wish you were near me because I have a 1986 CJ7 that needs some body work, I live in Scotia, NY and have no idea who to bring it to for the body work

Incredible job. I'm restoring/rebuilding frame up a 79 cj7. 2.5" lift and want to go with the same size tires. I know those were 15x8 wheels but what are the backspace and offset to get that stance???
I am in the process of making one of these myself thats why i came to watch the video I had some trouble with the transmission it was too high up so I made some spacers to lower the transmission and the skid plate at the same time.
@@Millerbrothersautorepair I see many buying 4 door jku and jlu limos. I would much rather restore a real Jeep like this. Sad that the 2 door pre Wrangler and Wrangler are becoming the minority in the Jeep world.
Thank you Aaron. A restoration of this level of detail can run $40-$55k. We are no longer doing any full frame up restorations, we have decided to focus more on day to day automotive service and repair.
If you're looking for an automatic with a part-time transfer case, I would look at the 1980-1986 CJ7. These would have come with the TF-999 3 speed automatic and the Dana 300 transfer case. From 1976-1979 the automatic that was available was the TH400 backed by the Quadra-Trac transfer case. The Quadra-Trac is full time 4wd system unless it has an aftermarket part-time kit added to it. At the time of this writing, we are putting together a 1976 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade Levi's edition with the 304 V-8 and Quadra-Trac :-).

It’s mostly a 77 body. The rot was too great that side panels from a later model were used. The front axle is from a 1979. The owner bent the original front axle jumping the Jeep in the early 80’s and replaced it back then.

shaban helal I agree with you. However, we built this Jeep for our customer who had a strong emotional tie to his Jeep and wanted as much of the original Jeep as possible. The good news is that the frame is stronger now than when it was new and will last an extremely long time.

What are you referring to? Do you have a disdain for axles in general, or do you just not like the Dana 30 and Model 20 that Jeep put in their CJ's in the 70's?
