This is *THE* Best Castlevania game in my opinion. The story, dialogues, and acting are mindblowing!! Peak of IGA's creations! Yes, levels could be bit less corridor-like, and camera more friendly... but God damn, this game blew my mind! 10/10 from me.
It's one of my favourites along Lament of Innocence. The gameplay could be very simple, just run around, killing monsters to empty rooms but it accomplishes this with the level up system, the Innocent Devils as well as other stuff. Being fairly long is also what makes it more enjoyable unlike the PS3 Castlevania.
this wasn't even the peak. th-cam.com/video/Q5cANFk2FRE/w-d-xo.html instead we got Lords of Shadow, which isn't a bad game, just not a very good Castlevania game Castlevania has always peaked at what is one of the most important aspects of a game --- game-play. LoS kinda tanked there
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is the first Castlevania I've ever conquered so I never knew a Deity such as Death served Dracula and for the longest time I questioned why. Then I found the answer; Dracula possesses the Crimson Stone
Despite one or two places crediting Zead as Liam O'Brien, I'd count that information false; he's certainly voiced by John Rafter Lee. Fantastic quirky, expressive actor. Played Dr Cid in FF12, Trevor Goodchild in Aeon Flux, Aristotle in Reign the Conqueror and Meier Link in Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. So good.
I was so pissed off when I found out Zead was actually Death! I was so angry because I've defeated Isaac and my life was almost down to nothing and I was out of potions and that stupid old geezer was evil. T_T
yes, he is really Death in disguise to trick Hector into killing Issac, because he needs to use someone with dark powers and an evil heart (or alternatively a pure heart) to revive Dracula.
@NicholasGeschke Twas brilliant indeed and I loved just how much the story was well planned. It is a smart plan. I don't think his goal was to lure Trevor, but he did account for him. I mean, it's not quite true that you can say Death was looking for Trevor to die by Isaac, but Isaac did account for it and recognize he couldn't have the Belmont move further. It'd be interesting to note how much the two worked together on this without actual interaction.
It means that Shanoa, Albus, & Barlowe wield "Glyphs" (dark power) that is *very* similar to the power that Devil Forgemasters wield. They are both "suffused in Dracula's magic", so you are correct.
@nestornosferatu Isaac isn't a corpse here. He's simply incapacitated by Hector, but remember Hector stopped himself from killing Isaac. That moment of pause was all Death needed to interfere and snag Isaac. Isaac truly dies in the resulting battle between Dracula and Hector later.
When you rejected the curse, you prove to be useless, truly this most unfortuned - that weapon you are none other thatn death!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love this video ^^
This game is a marvel!! When I came to this level and this scene was playing - I was TOTALLY freaked out by Zead! He was sooo damn creepy! o_O The whole plot... and then his tone of voice... his face... just ewwww I got the chills! This game is the best!!
I think they should've given Death a two form fight - one with Hector vs. Zead, then at like half health or like with the Crazy Armor, he loses the facade and goes full Reaper.
@Napalmxxx2 Oh, that explains it. I haven't tried crazy mode yet, but I will most certainly keep that in mind. Yes, yes, that far away move sucks so much! Death was tough.
if you thought death was a pain in the ass, you obviously didnt play lament of innocence, death was the final boss and a real pain in the ass on that one, especially since walter was hard as shit and often would leave you with 1 or 2 potions which were usually used up halfway through the fight with death and you would be uber pwnd if you didnt know how to duplicate items which there are 2 spots in lament of innocence where you could stand and dupe away.
Yes, you're right. Death is a tough final boss in Lament of Innocence. In Curse of Darkness, he's pretty easy to defeat for me since he can't move his body.
@IceT80 I wouldn't say he trusts Zead. He just follows the one who willingly lends him true information that concides with his wants. Hector's his own man and follows his wants-- whether a person helps him or not.
@velmuvelho I'm guessing he decided it was best to dispose of Hector there and then, since he had broken free from the curse and could potentially be a threat to Dracula. Besides, Hector wanted to destroy Drac's Castle, I doubt he would have left until he succeeded. Saying that, though, Death could probably have tried to manipulate him more and caught him by surprise, but he probably also thought he would be easy prey having just had a tough fight against his nemesis.
@ThePoisond Walter is hard on crazy mode though since he has a tendancy to spam the hell out of that move that covers damn near the entire room in lord only knows what, death on the other hand was basically my favorite out of any boss and I know what you mean by big mistake on rushing Death, it sure beats the hell out of taking the hit from the move he uses when you get too far from him.
@IceT80 Not really...I mean it's Isaac's fault that Hector's fiance is dead Wouldn't you do the same thing? And he manages to avoid being Dracula's vessel A.K.A This is the new destiny that flows from Hector
@Napalmxxx2 Although I have to disagree that Walter was hard. Walter simply required patience as your strategy. However, Death is hard. Death uses up a lot of potions and, by the time I got to the last few hits, I lost my patience and went straight at him (BIG mistake). I did win the next time around, but Death requires far more patience than Walter. However, Walter is definitely the easier of the two.
@unicornfairydancer Well, father Grigori in Half Life 2 wasn't too bad. He was insane, but not really evil. Then again, he was a priest rather than a monk....
@Xick No kidding. Even the name should have given him away with its pronunciation. Reverse the sounds and it becomes Deaz. Some sounds are often mistranslated from Japanese, such as Zebes of Metroid fame becoming Zebeth. Taking that into consideration, Zead is actually "Death" backwards... Well, at least in pronunciation.
"So, those two are enemies..." Hector totally ignores the fact that Zead, a pasty priest, suddenly produces and displays great skill with an unusual weapon, and then opens a hole in the universe. Death is a SHITTY actor; Hector just assumed it was someone else's problem.
@dandanwii he did get even more insane since the beginning of the game and happens to have the potential to be gay at the same time but yeah he beats the hell out of most bosses in the game.
@IceT80 I wouldn't say he trusts Zead. He just follows the one who willingly lends him true information that concides with his wants. Hector's his own man and follows his wants-- whether a person helps him or not.
Hector: a forgotten Shakespeare character.
Have you noticed that every time Death says it's time for someone to die, he himself promptly gets his ass kicked?
Hector is such a badass.

"That weapon... You are none other than Anderson Cooper!"
I'm surprised Zead's skin didn't melt off.
Crispin freeman is one of the best voice actors i have heard.
0:15 me... when i realizing that being furious is not a good choice
its better being furiious and angry than being soft
I wonder how death slid that WHOOOLE scythe out of his sleeve..
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is the first Castlevania I've ever conquered so I never knew a Deity such as Death served Dracula and for the longest time I questioned why. Then I found the answer; Dracula possesses the Crimson Stone
Bruce Willis as the Reaper
LMAO Isaac's scream at the beginning cracks me up!
even death takes orders from dracula that....is awsome
God i love schytes.. And Death is awesome!
So good.
Yo, he was in Vampire Hunter D? That’s fucking awesome man!
Hector, master of the orz pose.
I was so pissed off when I found out Zead was actually Death! I was so angry because I've defeated Isaac and my life was almost down to nothing and I was out of potions and that stupid old geezer was evil. T_T
Same here too.
He used us as puppets to revive Dracula.
yes, he is really Death in disguise to trick Hector into killing Issac, because he needs to use someone with dark powers and an evil heart (or alternatively a pure heart) to revive Dracula.
¡¡¡DIE ISAAC, DIE!!!
i fucking died from jumpscare
when he sais. ITS THE CURSE! ITS DRACULAS CURSE!! it sounds like homer simpson
This game rocks hardcore! Chapel of Resonance = one of the beat Castlevania sites out there! Keep up the great work!
(When rushing in) Christie: "Hector don't! remember what Julia said!"

One question, does this mean that Dracula's vessel in OoE (no name to hide spoilers) would be a Devil's Forgemaster?
It means that Shanoa, Albus, & Barlowe wield "Glyphs" (dark power) that is *very* similar to the power that Devil Forgemasters wield.
They are both "suffused in Dracula's magic", so you are correct.
@VysetheTard Konami: "Oh, Crap! Quick, we need an explanation for final Dracula boss fight!"
I will agree with that statement, especially seeing as if this is a sequel to a NES game.
@VysetheTard lmao i didnt think it was so bad but that's just well thought up and HILARIOUS!
Say what you will about the game's overall quality, but its presentation is the best in the series.
2:01 That scythe looks sick!👍
@nestornosferatu Isaac isn't a corpse here. He's simply incapacitated by Hector, but remember Hector stopped himself from killing Isaac. That moment of pause was all Death needed to interfere and snag Isaac.

Death was pretty clever in this game.
yes he is
I always wondered that myself about Hector and Zead.
Waiting room for Zeds imminent appearance in the Castlevania anime
Could it be possible?
I thought he was the Judge , the look almost the same 😅
@@evyevolution7509 hummmm... Maybe....
@@evyevolution7509 same here, me and my homies were watching together and we were certain that it was Zed because of that reason
Rip
how often does he say "who are you?" in this game..
Death was tough.
was your desire for vengeance weak? or was your spirit strong, no matter, i love this video, instead i feel like a toy in the hands of zead =P

Did any of you notice that the Laser Blade Hector let go of did not show up when he was rejecting the curse?
@halloweenfan92, according to the Castlevania wiki whoever obtains the Crimson Stone gains control over Death and gain his services.
@ThePoisond that far distance move is even worse on crazy, there's NO avoiding it, item duplication helps a great deal on it though.
@Toady120
Good ain't the word for it,it's great!
@IceT80 I wouldn't say he trusts Zead. He just follows the one who willingly lends him true information that concides with his wants. Hector's his own man and follows his wants-- whether a person helps him or not.
0:15 Dracula says: Nooo Kill the Bastard and do the sister you know you want it
@velmuvelho I'm guessing he decided it was best to dispose of Hector there and then, since he had broken free from the curse and could potentially be a threat to Dracula. They had lightsabers in 1479?
death is always bald... lol
@IceT80 They're both thin, though, so it's redundant saying that, and I think you meant bald, instead of bold, in which case, many monks are bald.
Death is learning to become like Succubus lol
@TheLobsterWrestler Ah yes, that would have been cool. Maybe Konami thought there were too many "human" bosses in the game? Still, a shame.
i know, i have that also, its so hard to get that weapons xD
@dankcharlie666 Only if written with a capital D...
i beat both isaac and death at a low level :D but i couldnt finish it :( draculas last form was way hard
maybe it went into the ground just like the coffin?!
\o/,I´ve got the Death´s Scythe,The Laser Blade,Chauve-Souris and the 7 Bladed Sword.But I got a lot of work to get :D
Why does Death look so similar to Lord Voldemort here?
Crispin's character sounds so much like alucard its not even funny. And i love how he's playing a game that has dracula in it and its not him XD
@IceT80 Not really...I mean it's Isaac's fault that Hector's fiance is dead

Hector is the only one who can defeat Count Dracula. but somone who set him(Hector)up.
I wonder who is this Zead anyway?

is the curse, dracula´s cuuuurseeeeee ^^
wait a min...zead is death....
LIES! IS SO GOOD (Compare it to Symphony)
death looks like crap in this game, why did they change the characters so many times?! the cloack vercion with skull head was perfect!!!
@ThePoisond that far distance move is even worse on crazy, there's NO avoiding it, item duplication helps a great deal on it though.
