I dip into this from time to time. First discover him listening to skinny love when it was in the charts. Probably about 10 years ago. Little did I know …
+No Name Well in fact, John Frusciante has such a talent for music creation, as he proved by doing lots of different genres perfectly. I was only suggesting for people who like to discover music :) I am nor deaf, nor retarded, nor stupid, for the info.
+Josue De La Torre He does many genres, which sometimes is hard to appreciate since he does lots of experimentation with music, but curtains is an amazing acoustic album :)
Bon Iver create the kind of music where you really have to close your eyes and feel it to truly appreciate the grandiloquence in each song. It's the kind of music you can't just love because of the sound, but because of the meaning and feeling behind it that really reaches out to each and every person.
As a teenager, I can't stand when my friends call this type of music "bad". Do they have any idea how hard it is to write songs that carry such an emotional punch? It's not some catchy pop tune or rap rhythm. It's genuinely great music. Thanks Bon Iver.
this song. this entire album, wrecked my life. been listening to it since i was 15. i'm 23 now. i don't know how to let it go. it's attached itself to my soul. i listen to medicate. to remedy the emptiness i feel inside. yet, it leaves me empty anyway.
Not anything remotely qualified but just friendly words if you ever read this. You’re engaging the emotions on the experiential level but you’ve gotta dive in to it to get out of it. It sounds like you’re remembering whatever heartbreak or deep emotions you had but you’re cutting it off at the resolution. Live it all the way through and know you’ll be on the other side when you’re ready. All the best!
I don't know why anyone would not want him to go mainstream. I'd like the whole world to hear this music. For that reason, I hope he's the most "mainstream" artist of all time.
"Only love is all maroon" He's singing about how love is truly the only one shaded emotion (All maroon) such a colour states how love causes happiness and pain. Maroon is just the best outlet for that. This is my own interpretation XD
Damn this song takes me right back to the only girl I have ever loved with a true earthly connection. I miss her so much but know that there is someone even better in my future, this life or the next. Much love.
Bon Iver are an perfect example of music I do not wish to share, and want to keep all to myself, to fall in love all over again, everytime I hear his beautiful voice.

I am my mother's only one It's enough I wear my garment so it shows Now you know Only love is all maroon Gluey feathers on a flume Sky is womb and she's the moon I am my mother on the wall With us all I move in water, shore to shore Nothing's more Only love is all maroon Lapping lakes Like leery loons Leaving rope burns Reddish rouge Only love is all maroon Gluey feathers on a flume Sky is womb and she's the moon
How "being an only child" or how a "mother's love" can be the best and the worst thing at the same time? Gluey Feathers... Rope burns... And when your Mother dies, even when you are the parent on the pictures, you move "shore to shore" with her ashes, as you die with her and she lives with you?
For me, I used to worship the show House. The last episode of season 4... they use Re:stacks from this album. It will make anybody cry. I would play the tune on my acoustic and they'd start crying just remembering that scene from House. Too good. Been following Bon Iver ever since. First two albums so far have been top.
+Zuzu Superfly I've been a fan since I was around 11 in 6th grade (I'm in 9th grade now) so not very long, but Bon Iver's music has gotten me through so much. it has that sad mood but for some reason listening gives me a sense of hope. the songs are so sorrowful and beautiful yet for some reason they're uplifting. it's quite strange but so exquisite
I bought a Live Current CD at a garage sale when I got my license in high school. This song was what first brought me first Bon Iver, and is associated with fond memories of driving around the cities on warm summer nights with the windows down, Flume blasting on the stereo.
Honestly there is just something about this song that makes me feel something else, I can't put it into words, maybe it's his voice, maybe the lyrics or purely the combination of both, it just hits. I remember hearing it live in the UK and it made me so emotional to the point I teared up and bless my friends they just threw an arm around my shoulder and gave me a pat on the back and we all enjoyed the song together without a word being said. I love this song beyond words.
When i listen to this, i feel like this is the way that music is meant to be! It touches my heart and my mind in a way that not many other things can! Such a unique experience! Thank you Bon Iver for making some real music, in a time when its so hard to find!
his imperfect voice is what i love so much there's still so much heart, passion. i'm glad he's got it in him.... i'm reminded life isn't perfect but damn it's so pretty...... H.W.
When I was around 16-21 I had a friend group that I would hang out with. We all knew each other in highschool. DId typical dumb teenager shit. Very long story short one of the guys moved away about 3 towns over. And we would pile over his house almost every weekend. I'd take the bus there cause I didn't have a car at the time. And id play this exact video on the bus on repeat. This song is etched in my mind. Everytime I listen to it it just makes me tear up. None of us kept in contact and we all separated.
Loved his acceptance speech. This guy gets it. Why do people think that a getting a grammy is the most important thing. Doing your art is the most important thing. This made my day and I hope he continues to make music forever.
woah, THIS is music at it's best, it's beautiful. God knows why he was nominated for best new artist, his first album was four years ago, and hes only ever produced outstanding music since.
There a lot of good singers out there, but what makes them great, is the ability to sing the words emotion. That's what makes you special Jason. Love you.
I love his music...he's great...and I'm sure he's a beautiful person too...none knows him here in Italy... :( he should really be on the radio...not always just the same banal trate music...
I absolutely love this jam. This guy is very talented. Although the song is very mellow and seemingly sad it actually brings my spirit up. Its one of those songs that reminds me of what it means to be a human being. The howling vocals call out to the human soul and has lyrics to match. Soul music!
Congrats!!! Slowing people down to realize the beauty of the simple things!!! The world is full of beautiful, simple things!!! So glad he won peace amongst choas!!

As soothing as it sounds, it's really easy to do, which is why these artists have to have something else going on. Bon Iver: - has a lumberjack look - sings in falsetto - mumbles words like his mouth is swollen
Today, Everyone is used to hearing crap, on the radio, or wherever, whatever sells they put out there. So when I came upon this video, and the beautiful music coming from it, it caught me by suprise. Its beautiful.
Hey everyone. I did a cover of this recently and it would be so awesome if you guys checked it out and gave it a listen. It's the featured video on my channel. Bon Iver is a huge influence of mine and his music speaks to me just as it speaks to you all. Thanks so much!
He can hold a tune in a weird cat wailing way but his guitar work is so depressing and unimaginative. Chords a 6 year old can play, no bridge or hook, no real oomph or despair in the sound or lyrics. Just grubby bearded 40 something with a hat on indoors because he hasn't washed his hair in 3 years.
Everything is agreeable, the chords are fairly simple and this song isn't complicated at all, but no despair? Bon Iver (Justin Vernon), delivers that sense of misery and despair in the greatest way an artist can. I was trying to search for an album like For Emma Forever Ago for... forever, but never found something as unique and as magnificent. If you could suggest me something, or someone who delivers pain and despair better than this man, I'll be in your debt for life.
jim jimson well no shit xD If he felt the same for me we'd be friends. And also, getting a life is something that's not in my top priorities, people like you make me want to hide in a closet with your blind and inexplicable hate. Don't say things like that man. It's not worth it. I lost my self esteem over it. If you don't like him, hit the dislike button and go your own way. Idk. This hits home. But anyways, all I wanted to say is, be nice! *rainbowsunicornsandmuffins*
When setting up for this video shoot, someone had to say: "Hey guys, how about we just leave that big wonky computer monitor from 1998 looming in the background. No one will notice." And at the time, before this video had amassed six-million views, I'm sure this decision felt entirely rational. No doubt I would've left it sitting there as well. Those things are heavy enough to be used as boat anchors. But all joking aside, this is a fantastic video. A truly brilliant performance.
i wanted to propose to my fiance to this song. we watched this live at the show they played at the filmore in SF, CA in 2009. I wrote to the band and they never wrote back. THANK GOD! we got married but i divorced her a year later, right after we saw the concert for his second full album. his music tells the story of our marriage, i loved the first part of it. the second part, it involved too may people.
The Current.. Oh my days, I found this channel today and i love live shows and all my favorite songs just seem to be here, your channel is beast, thankyou!
i dont really care if this looks too much sensitive , but listening to this song made me want to hug me ma so bad ... As if i was going to die i dk .... Made me remember we have to appreciate every moment theyre with us, as they follow the chain of life, as we will eventually ... This is what you call Music , real music
Watched this 8 years ago for the first time. Was 15 then. I'm 23 today and yet, the goosebumps are intact.
well, im 15 now.

Watched this 12 years ago for the first time. Was 17 then. Im 29 today and yet, the goosebumps are intact.
Im 41 years old. Just found that song yesterday. One of the Best song which I ever hear !!
I dip into this from time to time. First discover him listening to skinny love when it was in the charts. Probably about 10 years ago. Little did I know …
"Sky is womb and she's the moon" is seriously one of the most beautiful lines of any song I've ever heard.
The lack of proper grammar’s infuriating however 😂
it's called artistic freedom@@jackcooper3307
I agree that line is very deep :D
Sounds like a conspirqcy theory
For Emma Forever Ago, still my favorite album of all all these years later.
Never heard so much passion, makes you feel so sad and happy at the same time
+actually vakan. Should take a look ah John Frusciante, his passion is incredible aswell

+actually vakan. You should check out New Grass by Talk Talk, Mark Hollis (the singer) really pours his heart out on that song
+Prisms Edits checking out Curtains, sounds great. Definitely hearing the passion, not exactly sure what No Name is talking about
+Josue De La Torre He does many genres, which sometimes is hard to appreciate since he does lots of experimentation with music, but curtains is an amazing acoustic album :)

Bon Iver + Rainy Mood = Perfection
Ikr!
Interesting that you say that, I found this song through Rainy Mood yesterday!
As a teenager, I can't stand when my friends call this type of music "bad".
Do they have any idea how hard it is to write songs that carry such an emotional

You can find deep and profound lyrics from rap artists but you have to dig deep.
Omg u need new friends they're obviously stupid fucks

It's 9 years later. Do you still identify with your thoughts here?
@@doc2208 by dig deep you presumably mean 20 years ago lol
Makes me cry everytime. I miss my mom so much everyday.

This guy is so unique. Great falsetto voice. Not everyone can sing that strong with that style. I truly enjoy this guy's work.
his acoustic stuff by far displays the raw emotion he is able to tap into which makes his music very distinct and awesome !
I bought a Live Current CD at a garage sale when I got my license in high school. This song was what first brought me first Bon Iver, and is associated with fond memories of driving around the cities on warm summer nights with the windows down, Flume blasting on the stereo.
