Thank you for your video. I enjoyed watching you work on this old mower. The battery charging system is unique. I also liked watching you dismount and mount the lawnmower tires. Somebody needs to invent a machine that does that like they use for regular vehicle tires! 🤣
Good video Bruce. A couple of thoughts on the wheels/tires. I often will take my angle grinder with a thicker wheel and cut new groves in the bald tires; seems to work ok as long as I don't go to deep!! Secondly, if you are changing the tire out; I think maybe cutting the throw away one with a hack saw, etc, might reduce the possibility of damaging the wheel.
I remember rally mowers. I'm from Indiana and the ones down here were always green I looked at a forum about the subject of who made it ,and it looks like American yard products (ayp) or roper but I could be wrong it could could mtd too they made tons of mowers!
I remember Rally Mowers, they sold them at Caldor and Bradlees department stores here in Connecticut. I think they were about 80 bucks back in the 80's! Never seen an Eager One or Vantage Tecumseh with electric start, Posh!
How's she goin'? That old mower was in great shape eh!! Hard to believe the carb was as clean as it was. Those tires gave you a hard time, but you stayed with it and once again you won!! LOL Take care!!
I was thinking while watching you replace the tires that maybe a little dish soap on both surfaces would help with the installation or even put the wheels in the freezer for awhile, years ago I watched Dad replace the tires on our Lawn Boy but one advantage was that it had metal wheels so bent the rim out to take the tire.off then tap the rim back afterwards.this is the first time I've seen ones replaced on a plastic wheel.
Nice old machine - Rally brand was made by both Murray and AYP. I see them both as push and ride-on mowers - but here with B&S engines. - nice video as always
Great older mower.I have seen them here in England. They seem well made most of the more modern battery start ones dont work. All the best to you all at the Penderosa.
I LOVE that mini-stator, what an awesome idea! Wish all key start machines had that, I guess the cheap little plug-in battery charger is more cost effective for the manufacturer (here at work they call that “value engineering”). I had an old electric start Honda HR-214 that charged its own battery, very nice feature. Rally mowers were pretty common department store type mowers here in the US, you’re right that one is made by Murray. In fact there are Murray labelled ones around here from that era with the exact same color scheme and FWD system. Good ole Tecumseh, starts right up and ready for work! Thanks for the vid, very interesting!
This OG had difficulty watching another OG struggle with the wheel removal i was yelling cut it off , cut it off then you put the note up eh! Love this softer primer bulb on this Techumseh do not know why they changed to the red mushroom style on. I bet this one is the original and still soft as a you know what eh?
Yeah, i remember when i was a little kid and i was boating with my uncle one sunny summer day, and the boat was powered by really cool -69 Yamaha 3.5hp aircooled outboard motor, and we were running out of fuel, so we tlited the boat little bit, so the engine could suck all the fuel from the tank which was mounted in the motor.
Rally mowers were well built with steel decks, decent wheels, and solid Briggs Classic engines, except they weren’t called Classic yet. I have never seen one with bells and whistles like self propelled, electric start, and usually they are side discharge instead of a grass box.
That is a cool lawnmower. I like how the charging system works, never saw that before. Is the rubber thick enough that you can use a grinder to cut new grooves in the tire? Thanks Bruce. Stevo
She's a classic ive never heard of
I am with you

Great tip! Kike I said yo Wayne I always leave myself a way to step back. I should have cut the tire. I just couldn't.

Yes that may help. When ever i do it I know i will be tired when i am done.

Nice find Bruce!! She's a keeper!
I think I will sell it in the spring. I have enough mowers :-0
Haha...I wondered if there were others with my problem!😂😂
Lots here in Nova Scotia
Right There has to be as there are not many here and it was made in Canada
Yours even still has the wheel caps! Impressive! Well maintained! Beautiful!

Thanks for sharing
@@BrucesShop The older equipment is best.Hope you are both ok.
Have had a few that we purchased and totally serviced for resale but never an electric start one. With a good Techumseh engine on it also.
Good to know!

Thanks. This one came from a friend. Well looked after.
And the best part, it has a Tecumseh engine 👍
EXACTL Thanks
That’s either a Murray or an AYP which is who used to make the older Craftsman mowers in The States. I’m leaning more towards Murray for this one.
Me too.

Thanks Wayne. I alwaysleave a way out if I get myself into trouble. It is my frugal nature.

I trust as you re commenbting here you got back OK
Oh yes, just a harmles little adventure. @@BrucesShop 😄
Hey Bruce,
Might be easier to cut the old tire off with a band saw or reciprocating saw.
Yes. I am leaving myself a way back if I have to.

Great point! A Tecumesh though as you know I am sure.

No I swapped them as I could do it.
They used to sell these at Kmart back in the day
WOW ok this one was over $400 back in the day.
A 90’s mower you don’t know much about, that’s a first. Must make it more interesting when you have unknowns to work on. It’s a nice machine though
Very true! I really enjoyed the job once I started.
Those tecumseh starter drives sometimes need cleaning to work correctly.
I got lucky. I will sell it i the spring now.
deck was made by AYP American yard products
Thanks :-)
Where did you come across that old mower Bruce? Voltage seems excessive. Good find.
It does seem high but I am sure when it is hooked up to a battery It will float at 13-14V
It’s a craftsman by sears
Thanks
Is the plug Brazilian because of its hair?
now now
Instead of prying off the old tire. Cut it with a saw or some kind of cutting tool since you don't need the tire anymore?
Yes. I put myself through the punishment just in case the tire won't fit the new one.
made by MTD I believe.
Thanks
It's a Murray and they went out of business.
Thanks a lot. It looks and feels like a Murray
First 👍🙏👍🙏
perfect
Every time i think about Brazil, i see the picture of the hot brazilian babes on Ipanema beach ❤
HMM What can I say. LOL
