I didn’t know much about Rick Rubin until recently when he came into my sphere of interest. For a record producer he sure makes a good life coach. His ability to break down and simplify things that many of us get stressed out about is phenomenal.
I love how he can put it so simply. In reality it really is that simple. Support yourself. Do what you love. Do things you love for yourself, as a devotion and for the greatest good. Amazing episode!
Everything about this man is extraordinary. His creativity runs through him. His shades, his amazing hair!, the way he sits. Not to even mention his musical genius. Love him!!!
Take a moment now to sense whether you are carrying any guilt associated with the habits you are trying to cultivate. Oftentimes people beat themselves up for their stops and starts, or not achieving things fast enough. Take a deep breath and realize there is no need for misplaced anger any longer. Here, there is no self-loathing, no bad grades. Everyone goes at their own pace, taking tiny steps and celebrating each one.

What a wonderful, helpful, inspiring, and authentic dialogue. I am an artist and often will tell myself unhelpful things like “There are too many artists in the world, why would they want to see my art?” or other such disparaging remarks. This was so helpful to unwind that broken tape and shut it down, because as I tell my students that I teach art to, “No one sees as you see, no one can express what you can express, no one can convey the stories you have, yes, there are those that want to see your art, and maybe even need to see your art, so create to the best of your ability whatever is inside, trying to come out.” Thank you Rick and Jay, for validating what I know is true in my heart, this brings tears to my eyes. Wow! Ricks words make so much sense to me. I had to reply a few times and felt it deeply. I thought I lost my will to create off of my own vision. His words made me realize I was just catering to others visions and not my own. What a great podcast Jay 🙌🏼♥️

Wish I found this interview much earlier in life. What a teaching moment by Rick Rubin. I am a massive overthinker--I can see this helping in a big way if I can put it into practice. We need so much more of this type of thinking in our world. It would be great if the US Government would hire Rick as an advisor to help them get back to working well together (crazy, but one can dream). Would help

Fascinating interview! I love Rick's answer to Jay's question at 01:05:31 What is the best way to inspire someone? He basically says instead of telling people what to do, since people don't like being told what to do, the best way is to walk your talk, lead by example.
When Rick said “fishing” it hit me hard. I feel like this was meant for me to hear. Fishing is my true passion and it’s the reason why I’m working so hard. I needed this. I really wish I had this episode to listen to when I couldn’t decide at 18 what I wanted to do for the rest of my life lol always over thought it but like Rick Rubin says it’s OK to have a job that supports you and your passion. Even now at age 30 not having the ideal job, but I have the time to be creative and pay bills and feed myself and thinking that it’s okay as simple as it sounds is so damn liberating.
I want to be Rick Rubin, in the sense that I wan to be true to whoever is inside here. Just started to watch it, and the fist 5 minutes have an impact that can change a life time. Thank you Jay Shetty and Rick Rubin for being true to whoever is inside you.💜
I had a limitless imagination as a kid that I feel waned as I entered the system built on outside acceptance and approval. This resonates profoundly and I am eager to read his book.
Most of the things we do in life are just to be accepted or belong somewhere, our brain keeps telling us to do this so that people will love it, and that kinda gives us a sense of acceptance. We crave acceptance from others because we haven't accepted ourselves. All our life we cater to other people, we focus on other people but the answer to our life lies within us. But we rarely see within us. Once we learn to accept ourselves, we will never crave acceptance from others and at that moment our life will change forever! Self-acceptance = simple life!
I love this interview! Creativity is sort of a magical thing because of how random and elusive it can be. A "block" in creativity is unfortunately more the norm than the exception, and if we could somehow know exactly what circimstances we need (at any particular period of time) to re-stimulate our creative energy, we could perhaps get ourselves out of a creative doldrum very quickly. But we seldom know exactly what we need!
The amount of mutual respect, appreciation and love these two had shared during the podcast goes through the vibration of their voices, their chosen words and expressions. It was a delight to hear. And I totally resonate with Jay: Rick's book is one of a kind. I'm savoring this book, reading every word and marinating on every thought. That's one of the best books I have ever read by far. Rick's writing is completely honest to who he is, there's no shape or form, and still everything he wrote is completely down to earth as it honors every aspect of the human being's essence, which is creativity, openeness and love. I wish I could meet Rick in person one day. He's made some of the greatest music, including basically inventing a style of hip hop yet keeps himself so grounded. There's no ego on this man, and he's able to still produce some amazing tunes. Most at his level would be so complacent and phone it in imo
I didn’t know much about Rick Rubin until recently when he came into my sphere of interest. For a record producer he sure makes a good life coach. His ability to break down and simplify things that many of us get stressed out about is phenomenal.

Wow! Ricks words make so much sense to me. I had to reply a few times and felt it deeply. I thought I lost my will to create off of my own vision. His words made me realize I was just catering to others visions and not my own. What a great podcast Jay 🙌🏼♥️

Wish I found this interview much earlier in life. What a teaching moment by Rick Rubin. I am a massive overthinker--I can see this helping in a big way if I can put it into practice. We need so much more of this type of thinking in our world. It would be great if the US Government would hire Rick as an advisor to help them get back to working well together (crazy, but one can dream). Would help
Rick most likely has the BEST advice for any person because his mind is the mind of a student in that it is always learning and being reward by the way it all works for the greater good. Fantastic interviewer as well!

Fascinating interview! I love Rick's answer to Jay's question at 01:05:31 What is the best way to inspire someone? He basically says instead of telling people what to do, since people don't like being told what to do, the best way is to walk your talk, lead by example.

Omg yes we are loved soo much. And i love you all soo very much. I'm to the point in the last few months that I get very emotional knowing that there's so much love in this world just getting ready to be on least that it makes me almost cry does that sound strange? Because I don't think I've ever been that happy to where I could just break down crying because of my love for Humanity and knowing that we're not giving up I love you all so much

Jay, this was the most aligned podcast I have seen with Rick Rubin. I have seen many, and I love how you both seem to be on the same page in the spiritual sense. I loved watching your response when he asked you about your reason for being a monk. I think I have watched most of the interviews with Rick and yes I loved this connection😊 most of all.

I really wish I had this episode to listen to when I couldn’t decide at 18 what I wanted to do for the rest of my life lol always over thought it but like Rick Rubin says it’s OK to have a job that supports you and your passion. Even now at age 30 not having the ideal job, but I have the time to be creative and pay bills and feed myself and thinking that it’s okay as simple as it sounds is so damn liberating.

Most of the things we do in life are just to be accepted or belong somewhere, our brain keeps telling us to do this so that people will love it, and that kinda gives us a sense of acceptance. We crave acceptance from others because we haven't accepted ourselves. All our life we cater to other people, we focus on other people but the answer to our life lies within us. But we rarely see within us. Once we learn to accept ourselves, we will never crave acceptance from others and at that moment our life will change forever! Self-acceptance = simple life!

I love this interview! Creativity is sort of a magical thing because of how random and elusive it can be. A "block" in creativity is unfortunately more the norm than the exception, and if we could somehow know exactly what circimstances we need (at any particular period of time) to re-stimulate our creative energy, we could perhaps get ourselves out of a creative doldrum very quickly. But we seldom know exactly what we need!

I wish I could meet Rick in person one day.
