You’re energy is so relaxing and they way you break down every singers smile is just so fascinating to me, I would love to see you take a crack at Neil Fallon from Clutch, specifically from their older albums when his singing wasn’t as well trained as it is now. Something like El Jefe Speaks or Big News 1 or even The Elephant Riders! I’ve always wanted to learn how to sing like old school Neil but apparently his technique was incredibly harmful to his voice, and I’m not okay with hurting myself to sound like a wildebeest 😂

He blew his voice out in late 90 early 91 during the seasons for The Black Album after singing the song So What. He didnt really heavily modify the way he sung in this video until maybe 96 around load and reload in 97. I think it was a little outta necessity due to him still struggling a bit and his voice deepening as well as some personal stylistic changes.

Beth really enjoyed this one. My favorites from S & M are "The Call of Ktulu" with "Master of Puppets" right after it (the overlapping guitars in that solo near the end is nothing short of epic.) "Battery" also rips. But the song that got helped the most by the orchastra, in my opinion, was "Devil Dance". The Symphony added so much life to that.

*I think it was the late Michael Kamen, movie score composer/arranger/conductor, who suggested MetallicA should perform with a whole orchestra. Kamen wrote the orchestral arrangements & conducted the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. The string-arrangement/orchestral background of "Nothing Else Matters" [original studio-/album-version] was also written by Kamen. More than once he also collaborated very successfully with Bryan Adams. [MTV Unplugged, "Robin Hood-Prince Of Thieves", "The Three Musketeers", "Don Juan De Marco"].*

I used to sing in two metal bands. When you're talking about distortion, it's so right. So I tried to sing now, and I'm not someone who has taken any sort of lessons, and I've stopped the video before writing this. But when I sing, whatever note I'm trying to hit, the distortion feels lower. The distortion feels like it's coming from the bottom of my neck and sometimes ever lower. Especially when I'm growling. If it feels like it's crossing the Adam's apple in feel, it hurts, a lot. And I know the growl isn't coming from the belly or the chest, that's just how it feels. So yeah, if you can find a way to project, and it still feels like it's coming from the chest, you can growl for days without it hurting.
