Great reaction, Beth!. I have been listening to AC/DC since well before the Brian Johnson era began. You are right on, Brian has definitely changed to a more Blues/Soul style in his singing and his moves during live performances as he has gotten older, his voice became more damaged. Rather than the full out power singing, charging around the stage that he did in the earlier years. It really started to become more noticeable in the late 1990's/early 2000's.
Ironically though, on Power Up he's singing more like his 80s stuff, and not lacking power either, it's excellent. It even sounds like the Flick Of The Switch stuff on several songs!
I saw AC/DC on the Highway to Hell tour and Bon Scott one of the best unique voices in Rock! Sorely missed! I saw AC/DC on Back in Black in 1980 and For Those About to Rock We Salute You in 1981. Brian Johnson was the perfect fit for AC/DC after Bon passed. Brian was a unique voice just like Bon’s voice was unique. Love them both!

Hi here I am in 2024 , still catching up Beth :) The version you speak about is by Steve N' Seagulls from I believe it is Finland, Angus' guitar on a banjo and it is awesome. Have a great day.
About fifteen years ago Brian Johnson was on a talk show, the host asked him “so what’s your vocal warmup like before the show? What do you do to warm up.” Johnson’s response? “EEEEEEYOW!!!!.....that’s it.”
I love the Steve 'n' Seagulls version of this song, the banjo player is on fire with that Angus riff. AC/DC have been one of my favourite bands for 40+ years and I'm very happy Brian got his hearing problems sorted and he's back where he belongs.
You could escalate the genre and go from this hard rock to metal and listen to Rata Blanca -and stay in Argentina as this performance of AC/DC was in Buenos Aires-. La llave de la puerta secreta, La leyenda del hada y el mago, El reino olvidado, Mujer amante are all great songs. Adrian Barilari is a great metal singer and Walter GIardino one of the best guitarist in the whole wolrd, for real.
This song just Pumps you up! Regarding rasp voices you should definitely do a Reaction to Tom Waits 'Going out West' (Live - Glitter and Doom). One of my favorite songs for sure. :)
Hello again. I've said it before but I love the way you can be constructive about any singer. Even tho, you are a more conventional singer, you can respect those who are not. This is coming from an Aussie so I could be a little biased
Brian's vocal change was mainly due to hearing loss. There is some vocal strain, but he more sounds like he did in the 80's after receiving a state of the art hearing aid. AC/DC's new album "Power Up" reminds me a lot of "Back In Black" & "For Those About To Rock". Literally cried when I heard him belt like he did in his prime. Favorite fuckin' band ever.
Brian's voice does not have vocal injury. Listen to him speaking and you will hear the natural gravel in his voice. It is hereditary as his father has a similar voice. I personally think his voice is the greatest! You should listen to Brian singing "Proud Mary"
There’s an up and coming Canadian duo called cleopatrick. I’d recommend looking at the basement live sessions or a studio version of one of their most popular songs ‘hometown.’ Reason for the recommendation - it deviates from very well-known, famous artists which I think adds interest.
Brian Johnson has always sounded like that since joining AC/DC. Around this time he started losing his hearing which affected his voice. He has since got some type of hearing aids and sounds like he did when he was younger. Still not bad being 75 years old.
Saw AC/DC in 2003 for my first concert ever. They put on a fucking show, not just a concert. So many different gimmicks, fireballs, giant bells, guitar powered elevators, rising stage as Angus runs in circles on the ground, giant angus statue, giant blow up doll, cannons. It was amazing.
Glad you are discussing aging voices. It was kinda skipped over during your Geddy Lee commentary. Glad to see it here. I think it is a discussion just as pertinent as singing at your peak.
If you listen to anything Brian did with his former band Geordie, you will hear distinct differences in how he delivers his performance. Whenever he sings with them, he goes in with a more straight up Rock & Roll approach, which is different to the heavier sound of AC/DC. Both are Rock & Roll, but with Geordie, he uses a much smoother sound of vocal, which produces all the natural sounds & tones of his voice. In AC/DC, he uses the more Australian approach of, use your natural speaking voice, then project it all from your throat very loudly. You still get the natural sound of that voice, just a little rougher around the edges, but not without it's musical qualities.
Put the top down, we're going to blast this out loud and we'll go really fast through this landscape. Bring your thick sweater, the cabin is cold this time of year and it takes a while for it to warm up. We're going to need som D batteries for when we take out the boombox on the beach by the fire. LOL in our nations, we do the fire to warm up because it rarely is warm enough when we get out of the water.
I think I'm right in saying this. Brian Johnson is the second lead singer in AC/DC. Bon scott was before him but passed away in 1980. Brian was the singer in an AC/DC tribute band & was spotted. His voices was similar to bon scotts voice so he was asked to join the band. If I'm incorrect in this info please correct me. ✌
AC/DC's biggest concert of all time was in Göteborg, Sweden. I was on stage and there are fan videos but I'm 7'1 so they did not want me in any of the official video.
I think a few years back Axl Rose stepped in as a singer for AC/DC when Brian Johnson was unable to sing. You are absolutely right about a singer being an athlete , an injury changes the game.
Malcolm Young was the unsung hero of this band. Angus once said that Malcolm could have played his parts but likely he wouldn't be able to do Malcolm's. He was technically very reliable and basically invented the sound of AC/DC.
Someone asked Angus if he was the best in the world bad he replied that he isn’t even the best in his own band 🤣🤣🤣 I love how humble these guys are even after all these years.
I think Brian kept his voice higher to remain faithful to Bon Scott and the bands existing legacy. We were so lucky to have Brian Johnson. 35 years later he still rips it up
I went to the Black Ice tour when they toured Australia, Angus started playing thunder struck and the a storm rolled in, lots of a lightening and thunder while they played Thunderstruck, thankfully didnt rain, most memorable night of my entire life being 20ft away from Brian and Angus and looking at them looking up and smiling at the sky while rippin out thunderstruck 🤘❤

I try
About fifteen years ago Brian Johnson was on a talk show, the host asked him “so what’s your vocal warmup like before the show? What do you do to warm up.” Johnson’s response? “EEEEEEYOW!!!!.....that’s it.”
They are so much fun. So energetic
I love the Steve 'n' Seagulls version of this song, the banjo player is on fire with that Angus riff. AC/DC have been one of my favourite bands for 40+ years and I'm very happy Brian got his hearing problems sorted and he's back where he belongs.
2 cellos do a good cover too. They completely destroys their bows getting that great riff down.
The Cleverlys also do a fantastic bluegrass cover of Thunderstruck.
AC/DC rocks! No more words.
The bluegrass version you're referring to is by the band Steve'n Seagulls.
Thnx for the vid!
The Ckeverlys also do a fantastic bluegrass cover of Thunderstruck.
Beth rocking to AC/DC what a damn nice video....Rock on Girl!!
And contrast it with Hold On
Beth is so cute and sweet. She makes me smile. I'm sure everyone can agree.
Hello again. I've said it before but I love the way you can be constructive about any singer. Even tho, you are a more conventional singer, you can respect those who are not. This is coming from an Aussie so I could be a little biased
first time i see beth dancing, ty acdc
Te amo Beth, venite a Argentina y vamos a ver a Divididos
The version of “Thunderstruck” by 2-Cellos is amazing as well.
There’s an up and coming Canadian duo called cleopatrick. I’d recommend looking at the basement live sessions or a studio version of one of their most popular songs ‘hometown.’
Reason for the recommendation - it deviates from very well-known, famous artists which I think adds interest.
Love your uninhibited dancing to the song.
The bluegrass version is of a finnish band called Steve n' seagulls and yes is very good
The Cleverlys do a fantastic bluegrass cover of Thunderstruck.
@@jtelford2949 i will listen it
Great song
Brian Johnson has always sounded like that since joining AC/DC. Around this time he started losing his hearing which affected his voice. He has since got some type of hearing aids and sounds like he did when he was younger. Still not bad being 75 years old.
Saw AC/DC in 2003 for my first concert ever.
They put on a fucking show, not just a concert. So many different gimmicks, fireballs, giant bells, guitar powered elevators, rising stage as Angus runs in circles on the ground, giant angus statue, giant blow up doll, cannons. It was amazing.
did you see them in the olympic stadium in munich? 😊
@@toxicflow4381 no it was a US tour, in my home state.
Love 💘 watching 👀 you dance 💃 ❤!
Glad you are discussing aging voices. It was kinda skipped over during your Geddy Lee commentary. Glad to see it here. I think it is a discussion just as pertinent as singing at your peak.
That crowd is hoppin..... They are having a good time.....
Great reaction video !!
The wonderful AC/DC!
Best part of watching THUNDERSTRUCK? Beth dancing!!!
he always sounded like that. I was around back when they started their career.
Woohoo Beth headbangs 🤘🤘🤘With very good reason!
I've been following ac-dc for many many years. To my knowledge he was never a singer in an AC DC tribute band.
During the Toronto SARS-stock in 2003, AC/DC played the crowd of 450,000-500,000 before the Rolling Stones. Hard act to follow!
THE PRECIOUS BETH ROARS !!! ❤️💋
AC/DC is the best road tunes ever
Argentina... The best crowd in the universe
Jazz = 3 people listening to 5,000 notes.
Rock = 5,000 people listening to 3 notes.
Check out Eva Cassidy, Over the Rainbow
That was in Argentina, River Plate stadium
Ufff this is gonna be good!!!!
World Class band -Brian and Bon...
Brian was suffering hearing damage from touring. He could still sing just fine and he didn't want to be removed from the tour.
@@QuadinarosLS thanks for the correction
R.I.P. Malcolm Young
Malcolm Young was the unsung hero of this band. Angus once said that Malcolm could have played his parts but likely he wouldn't be able to do Malcolm's. He was technically very reliable and basically invented the sound of AC/DC.
Malcolm was much more than that. While Angus is the face of the band, Malcolm was known as the brains behind the band
Someone asked Angus if he was the best in the world bad he replied that he isn’t even the best in his own band 🤣🤣🤣
I love how humble these guys are even after all these years.
@@kevedwards Didnt he say "Im not even the best in my family" ?
He wasn't the unsung hero, he's rightfully had enormous credit over the decades for his epic talents.
I think Brian kept his voice higher to remain faithful to Bon Scott and the bands existing legacy.
We were so lucky to have Brian Johnson.
35 years later he still rips it up
ACDC for life
Powerhouse rock - I never, never, never get tired of it...
I wish someone would do a top 10 or 20 powerhouse rock review...
Y pero por supuesto que iba a ser en el estadio de River!.
El metal en vivo va a tomar su mejor forma solo en Argentina!!, no hay con que darle.
