This was a fun and LONG experiment but I really do love making these kinds of videos. I hope you enjoy watching them and please let me know if there are any other experiments you would like to see 😊
Hey, Recently get to know about your channel while watching KEVIN KOS and I must say you are absolutely amazing. It’s feels so great when you guys post content like that where we get to know new trends, techniques, methods which increase our knowledge and interest and chance to experiment. Hey! Thank you so much! Comments like this really make all the hard work worth it! I’m a big fan of Kevin Kos myself. He’s doing really interesting things on his channel. Thank you so much for your support, it means so much to me ❤️
This was a great video! I love your perseverance in getting the best possible clarification. I've been playing around a lot with charcoal filtering for some homemade liqueur I've been clarifying. I suspect the lack of flavor in your experiment is because of the brita filter -- i've found that charcoal will preserve most of the flavor if you don't let it sit for too long. It will also successfully filter with a coffee filters -- you can even get away with using one filter. What works for me is to pour it into the filter, let it drip for about 5 minutes and then pour the cloudy filtrate back into the filter and start again -- this gives the charcoal a chance to settle on the bottom of the coffee filter and from this point the filtrate is clear. In my experiments, I'm not trying to get rid of all of the color, just the cloudy particulate of the sugar and a little bit of pigment -- 1g/liter with a 1.5 hour rest works really well. It just takes an age to filter (>_
Funny thing. There was an ad before the video for coffee and how people are drinking it wrong. But you my friend are doing it right! Love these experiments! Have a beautiful weekend! 🤙🏼
If you use gelitine instead of Agar it works much better. More of the color is removed and it's much much clearer. I tried this same experiment with Orange juice and coffee a couple years back with gelitine and it worked extremely well!
Hey,just wanted to say that it's been a long time that I being seeing your videos and your insane experiences, loving what you doing and I want to ask if this charcoal method works with hot dense chocolate milk ? To clarify it as much as possible? Please let me know if is it possible 🙏
Thank you ! i love the idea. though, i have a question. when you finally reached your goal, did you just filter through Brita your Starbucks cold brew, or you did firstable a milk clarification, then the activated charcoal clarification, and finally you put it in the Brita (3 or 4 passes), so it would be a 3 steps clarification process ? Thank you
Hi! I ran through the activated charcoal clarification, but I did just try the brita filter with the cold brew too. I ended up having to run the straight cold brew through 3 times. It still had a slight brown tint, but was very clear
I reckon some sort of coffee or milk foam would take this to a different level. Amazing work getting this far without any special equipment, I tried in a bar for a week once and gave up.
I think you made a mistake at 2:05, you're weighing out 2 percent of the coffee for agar agar, hence 51g multiplied by 0.02, not 0.02 percent as you narrated.
i like it... i like black coffee, but after i see your videos, maybe i'll must try something different black coffee like that... can i try your recipe...
One of the reasons people clarify drinks is to remove particles for machine carbonation without foaming. I'd be curious if clarifying coffee would allow you to make a carbonated coffee.
Hello! I love this idea and I want to do it! This is the method that should work (in theory): 1. Toast powdered coconut milk in the oven at a low temp (200- 250F) 2. Combine the evaporated milk and rum 3. Reconstitute the coconut milk per the instructions 5. Combine the coconut milk and rum mixture and let rest overnight. 6. This should separate like milk punch. Run ith through a fine filter/ nut milk bag until clear- might take a few passes 7. Add a rich simple syrup (2:1) 8. Add to a blender with a very small amount of xanthan gum (0.25% by weight) and blend for 1 minute. This will look cloudy after, but will settle clear 9. Put everything into a freezer safe container with a few tablespoons of virgin coconut oil and stir to combine and then put in the freezer for an hour or so. 10. Remove the solid coconut oil and let it thaw 11. Serve with a light sprinkle of cinnamon

I appreciate how you embrace the “failures” and let us know if the “juice is worth the squeeze”.
Thank you!
I’m honest if nothing else! Lol. Thanks for watching 😊
Love the simple ingredients and tools used. Makes it seem almost approachable for us normal folk
Thank you! It’s time consuming, but totally doable. Thank you so much for watching 😊
Thank you for documenting all of this! I very much enjoyed your dedication to getting the clearest of coffees.
Thank you! I think it’s as important to show the failures as the triumphs. I got there eventually!
So great! I'll probably skip this experiment, but I love that you "showed your work." I learned a lot. Cheers!
I don’t blame you! It took a lot longer than expected for the result, but still an interesting experiment 🧪

This is awesome! Thanks for the tip! I will have to try it again sometime

Ha! What a coincidence! Thanks Ann, you too!
I'm gonna try some of these technically! I love clarifying cocktails! .
Your voice is pleasant, which is refreshing
Thank you!
So many coffee drinks to use this in. Excellent!
Indeed! It would probably make a cool White Russian!

Oh cool! I’ll have to try it out. Thanks for the tip
Do you use the same proportion as agar agar?

How is the taste?🤩
This is incredible!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed 😊

Love this! Sounds like I won't bother with clarifying coffee, but I think I will do some milk punch again soon. Cheers!
Thanks! I think it’s the last time I do it lol. But I do love a good milk punch.
I reckon some sort of coffee or milk foam would take this to a different level. Amazing work getting this far without any special equipment, I tried in a bar for a week once and gave up.
Yes that would be fun! Thanks for the suggestion!
Im actually working on this now. LOL thanks for the different processes
Hah It was quite the experience but man was it pleasing to see it come out clear!
I think you made a mistake at 2:05, you're weighing out 2 percent of the coffee for agar agar, hence 51g multiplied by 0.02, not 0.02 percent as you narrated.
Thanks for catching that, yes I misspoke. It is .02
Just for the love of the game
"in a word... Nah!"
Thanks for the honesty, but it is such a cool little experiment
i like it...
i like black coffee, but after i see your videos, maybe i'll must try something different black coffee like that...
can i try your recipe...
Cool. I hope you like it !
Awesome experiment! I do love clarifying my cocktails, but I don't know if I would go this far to do it lol
Hah! I don’t blame you. It’s probably the most intensive clarification I’ve done.
One of the reasons people clarify drinks is to remove particles for machine carbonation without foaming. I'd be curious if clarifying coffee would allow you to make a carbonated coffee.
That would be a fun experiment! Thanks for the inspiration 😊
omg this is brilliant
Thank you so much!
I need help! I want to clarify Puerto Rican Coquito. Can you tell if is possible? And what would be the best method? Thanks in advance.

This is really cool!
Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much.
Won't it remove the nutrients? Just wondering
Surprised you didn't try consomme method, I want to try consomme method for it when I try
Very cool! Let me know how it works out!
You are crazy...i love it !
🤪 lol! I will take that as a compliment!
did you try with centrifuge?
No I don’t have access to one unfortunately
What about egg whites?
I’m not sure if egg whites would absorb the pigment, but it’s worth a try!
You could use a ZeroWater filter to get absolutely clear results, but it would be _much_ easier to just not add the coffee in the first place 💁🏻♀️
Hello! do you have a patreon?
Hi I do not right now, but thinking about it 😊
I thought a Britta filter was mostly charcoal as well...! Interesting.
It is!
@@TheWeePearl Yes, but then I wonder what makes it more effective?
@@lsalgueiro I think the filter itself is superior to the paper filters I tried. Also it looks like the particle size of the charcoal might be larger
My dream ❤
You just need soda water n milk to clarified coffee.
Try it.
Starbucks Japan does this to make a 'coffeeade'
so cool!
You deserve more views
You’re removing a lot of the caffeine when you clarify with carbon
Yes. Carbon removes a lot of the qualities of coffee. Including the color- which was the point of this experiment. Thanks for watching 😊
Add coffee flavor back
I do just that in my clarified espresso martini video. You should check it out
I didn’t know hogwarts got a new potions master ❤
The best compliment! Thank you 😊

The juice is definitely not worth the squeeze.
Well said
