    What do you use to cut out your stencils? Do you use a machine or go freehand with a scalpel?

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Gareth, Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to leave this comment, and the question , i really appreciate it :) I cut all my stencils freehand with a scalpel, it takes a bit longer but i think it's worth it :)

    I’ve been doing this type of art for a couple months now and never give it a clear coat....does it really make a difference

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, Thanks for the question , The clear coat is used to add a layer of protection on your painting , it can also make colours more vibrant (stand out more) , it can also give your painting a more glossy look , and lastly i use it has the paints i use are matt so i put it on to put a gloss look on them :) hope this answers your questions :)

    What if I used a sheet of like, fridge magnet material, and a metal surface underneath? seems sturdier and could be reused if it didn't go to pieces...

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Wade, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment, and the question I really appreciate it :) It could work, but it may be hard to cut out a stencil on like fridge magnet material, if you use thick card to make stencils then they will last a while and can be reused many times :)

    You can crumble the paper depending on what type of texture you want.

    my clouds never come out like that they come out all blobby and not misty on the bottom... how did you do that?

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Shibtember, Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to leave this comment and question i really appreciate it :) When you are doing the clouds press the cap on the can lighter as this will let less paint out and give you more of a misting effect hope this helps :) Let me know how you get on :)

    I have trouble with my planet stincle ( lid)...I put weight and still the paint gets under.should I use more weight or try a cut out poster stencil?? thank you.

    • @JonBarberArt
      @JonBarberArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Juan, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment and question i really appreciate it :) Make sure the lid you are using sits flat on the surface you are painting first as some lids can twist when not in use depending where you leave them and what type they are, if they are twisted and you put a weight on it, it may lift it up and let the paint under, If thats not it try spraying lighter round them so its a finer coat round the lids so less chance of leaking, or you could put more weights on them, for me the bigger the lids the more weights i put on, hope this helps :)
