You did a great job! I actually started cutting my own curly hair before the pandemic and have been pleased with the results. Curly hair is SO forgiving! Today is the first time I watched videos and learned about the unicorn method. They all seem to start with the ends first, but I start with my bangs first and use them as a guide for the rest of the head. Granted, I am almost 60 years old, have thinner and shorter hair, so I suppose that makes a difference. It would be nice to see a video made for heads like mine.
Hiiiiiii, so I did this last night! Watched others but yours made more sense to me lol IT CAME OUT GREAT! I just moved to Maine and have been trying to find stylist who can cut my hair without trying to straighten it with no luck l. My hair looks EXACTLY like I wanted it too. THANK YOUUUUUUU
UGH I still don't understand why they always try to straighten it. I made the mistake of getting a cut my a stylist ONE time, they of course straightened it and I never ever went back to a "professional" Just started doing it myself and I will never have anyone else cut it now. Getting ready to follow this tutorial now!
Hadn’t cut my hair in way over a year. Couldn’t afford a profesional so I fake made myself one thanks to you. My hair curly reach down to my bottom and wanted the length but also wanted the volume. Plus the layering is perfect so I went for it. I extended my arm as far as I could while still following you. Now I’m at waist length (which is perfect) with all the qualities I wanted. It was long overdue. And although it was scary indeed my hair grows back extra fast so I didn’t worry too much. Thank you for being so informative I really appreciate you. My hair and I feel so much better!
So... I haven't cut my hair since at least 9 years. I trimmed them myself but never cut them. I will cut them today, because I don't feel the long hair anymore, however they are beautiful but still. I will take your video as a guide and thank the lord that I found you ❤❤❤❤❤
THANK YOU!!! The explanation is so clear, and the using a section as a guide is amazing. I watched it twice and then did it! And I LOVE it!!! It's the best haircut I've had in a long time (there are no curly hair specialists where I live so the last great cut was 2 years ago). What is so great about this cut is that it works for a variety of hair densities, lengths and textures. My hair is fine low density and 2C/3A in curl pattern that is shorter than yours. But the technique and your clear demonstration worked so well!
3rd time doing this cut and it never disappoints. Gives me the 'new woman' vibes I wish I could experience at the salon but never do. Paid $200 for my last cut - didn't include washing or styling and the result was nowhere near this 💫💥
GIRL this changed my hair game omgggg im so obsessed wit my hair again🥺🥺🥺 THANK YOUU im definitely gonna follow for more because this tutorial was a blessing
I’m a cosmetology student but we don’t really learn curly cuts and I DESPERATELY needed a haircut and I came across your video and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY HAIR!! Your video was so easy to follow so thank you so much for making this!!
I just used your video as a guide for the second time in two years and I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m a curly girl that used to stick to an old 80s style from an older beautician in my family, but when I lost contact, every person who touched my hair just chopped it off. Two+ years ago, I couldn’t afford the $200 Deva Curl cut (and she also butchered my hair now that I think about it) and you saved me then. Today, I’ve been home bound for a long time and just couldn’t stand looking at myself. I remembered your video and thank goodness I stopped being lazy and just did the dang thing. You rock, curly Shirley ❤
I never comment on these videos, but felt compelled to this time. I’m going to try this with the help of a family member who is licensed. It is unbelievable the success everyone seems to have had doing it themselves! I called so many salons and no one in my area could do it! Thank you so much! Wish me luck! I’ve literally never had a good curly cut.
Im so excited (and nervous) to try this but i need it! This is the cut my, currently one length, curls need. With bangs too! Omg! I'm going to have the bangs ive always wanted. Oh boy, ill stop by in the comments after it's done. I need a day or two and million or two views of your video. Still, i think im going to love you!
Thank you so much! I have a mix of 3A fine hair curls, and this is the third time I've used your video to cut my own hair! It looked great every single time, and I plan on coming back every 3 months or so for this trim 😀
@@MiVidaBellisima I had to google what you mean and I don‘t know her any further..it wasn’t right what she did, but no one is perfect and I don’t think she is a racist...So no hate here for my comment pls!🙏🏼

I've cut my hair myself about 3x since March 2020. Two of them were absolutely terrible cuts, which forced me to spend that $200 on a curly cut. The last one I did was decent, but still had me saying "may be time to drop another $200". Then I randomly found this video, read the comments, immediately pulled out my hair scissors, and ohhh myyy gosh. I. Am. Obsessed. I'm legit never getting a professional curly cut again! I seriously can't believe how perfect it came out...the layers, the shape, everything! THANK YOU!
I have tried quite a few different DIY curly cuts. This is one of my top faves! My hair is so bouncy and full! I’ll definitely be using your method in the future! Thank you!
With curly hair cuts being so dang expensive it was time I needed a trim. Seeing you do this made it look so easy! I decided to try it & let me tell you!! It came out perfect !! Thank you for sharing this with us. I will continue to use this every time ! Appreciate you !!! ❤️

You are so pretty! Thanks for the tutorial. Will be trying it out rn. I am a Hairdresser Apprentice, and you’re very good at explaining things. You are so right about not having to have even sections for curly haircuts. I always forget that lol
I tried this cut today and omg, I'm so in love with my curls! It was so easy to do after your video. I just watched once and felt inspired and confident to try it. When my husband saw me, he said "wow" haha. I'm so glad for your tutorial! I gave up trying to find a hair stylish to give a haircut with shape and volume like this after 3 years, so I was always feeling okay with my hair, but not completely happy. After following your tutorial, I'm feeling 100% happy with my curls again. Thank you!!
I watched this and immediately afterwards tried it out. I was like if this was proffesional-approved it must work. It turned out great!!! My hair was shorter than yours and it gave it shape without cutting length. Thank youuuu!!!
I just trimmed my hair using your instructions and now I’m obsessed. 😂 I had to force myself to put the scissors down so I didn’t cut too much of my length off. I straightened it to cut it so I’m excited to see what it looks like when I wear it curly again.
I loved this so much I had to try it. I've been cutting my own hair for a few years and am happy but always felt it was missing shape. I absolutely LOVE how it came out!! Thank you so much for sharing 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing. I tried this on my type2 curls and it turned out beautifully. I don’t have any training and I’ve never cut my hair before. I live in NZ and hairstylists here just don’t understand curly hair. I don’t think I’ll have to go back to a professional hairstylist again for a while.

OMG, I did this yesterday evening after almost a year of no haircut and I love it sooo much😍😍 I can't thank you enough, this has made such a difference to my hair. It's like it's transformed. The curls are finally forming again! I've been struggling so much with them in the past years and didn't know why - now I do. My previous cut was just shit. But now, wow, the bounce, the volume, and of course they are so much healthier again. I think it's slightly uneven in the back but it's ok. Anyway, I was so scared and truly didn't know if I could do it and it was a lot more difficult than you made it seem😅😅 But I did it😁 And wow, I must say it feels so empowering have done this myself. Thank you so much!!😘
I just did this cut following your video and I gotta say, it's THE BEST hair cut I've ever did/got. I really love how it turned out. I honestly have been feeling quit depressed about my hair. I desperately needed a hair cut and I couldn't find any curly hair specialist around, so I can't thank you enough ❤
Just to let you know, I tried your method, and I LOVE THE WAY IT CAME OUT...I was a “unicorn”follower for years, and thought I would give this a try,...LOBED THE OUTCOME, THANK YOU
Girlllll I did it and it looks so goooooodddd !!!!! I cut my very long curly hair a year ago and somehow my hair even if it does grow back it doesn't look long as it used to be (when dry) even if it reached the old length again And I couldn't love my hair again until I saw your video ......Thank you so muchhh ....so much love from Morocco ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Living in South Korea, it's impossible to find someone to cut my curls like this. I did a very rough version of the cut here and it turned out great! Thank you so much!
I did this cut on myself 2 years ago and i’ll be doing it again in a few days. For the ones wondering, despite her not advising to do this on straight hair, this cut has ALWAYS looked great even when i would give myself a blow out, regardless of the length of my hair. When i first did it, my hair was jawline length when straighten and its now under my bra when straighten as well. During the growth phase of my hair i would periodically give myself blow outs and the layers from this cut would look AMAZING either way! I HIGHLY recommend this cut if you want something versatile and with lots of body and volume
I've tried other hair cuts and not completely happy but happy enough . I did the unicorn cut for 15 yrs and I found this and I'm amazed and the results , thank you for this video.

So grateful I found this video. I think I did something wrong cause its not as round as I would like. My hair is falling tho 4 months post partum right now. I am so happy with my cut regardless. I have been feeling down and in a funk and this cut really has given me some confidence. Your tutorial was so well put together and not boring so thank you for making it easy for me to do this. Eternally grateful!
Clever lady! I’ve just taken an inch and a half off my hair as a blunt cut. I have a triangle thing going on where it comes out at the ends of my hair and wanted a video to round it off more at the top and give volume - this video is perfect. Thank you!
TBH- when you wet your hair at the start, I didn't have high hopes. 😬 (mostly bc Rëzo Cuts are always cut on dry hair) But giiiiirl......... I was blown away!! Your hair came out absolutely GORGEOUS! It even looks professionally done. Awesome job well done! Bravissima!! 😊👍
Watched the video twice and followed the steps you gave… my hair turned out AMAZING! Thank you so much for the guidance. Don’t hesitate to try this curly girls!
Beautiful... this is exactly what I wanted. My hair used to be as curly as yours. Years of using the wrong products and getting the wrong haircuts has taken a toll on my curls. Now I'm on a mission to recover them.
Girl - you've got guts! End results....... AMAZING! I DID IT - IT'S BEAUTIFUL. I was so scared that my thinnning hair would look thinner but it's bouncy and exactly what I needed. By lifting up, you DON'T lose length (even though it looks like you're cutting too much hair). Thank you!
I went to a barber for years in my 20's to 40's but then he quit. People think Barbers only cut short men's hair but he was born to cut hair and was cutting hair with the Paul Mitchell company when they first started out. He was fantastic and since he quit, I have not been able to find anyone to cut my hair the same. Everyone cuts it so the layers are blunt or too long. They have no idea what I am talking about when I try to explain. And to top it off, my hair is now coming in quite gray, has a different texture, and is way more curly than in my youth. This cut looks a lot like what he did, even the way you shaped the front at the end around your face. I am going to try this. Thanks so much for making this video. I will let you know how it turns out.
This is SO great - thank you so much for doing this. I've never cut my 3B curls myself other than a quick trim or chopping off a stray curl here and there, but after being a year on getting a cut BEFORE going into lockdown...it was in need. And I love love love the results! If I could figure out how to post before and after pics here I would. I watched this video a couple times and then used is as a guide as I cut, and then I just did a dry shaping (it's the next morning). My hair looks and feels great and it's making me SO happy. Thank you!!
First and only video i sow, cut my hair the next day!! Never did my own hair, never had bangs or big volume but OMG this looks amazing! Thank you so much
Omg love how it turned out on you! I haven’t found anyone who would cut my hair like this (living in a mostly straight hair centric country) cause the hair stylist say no your hair will be more puffy, your hair is frizzy cause it’s damaged, your hair texture is like this cause of bleach etc etc but NO this is my original hair texture and it’s frizzy cause it’s curly but you brushed it out!!!! Ughhh ok rant over. I’m nervous but hoping I can finally give myself the haircut I’ve always wanted for my curly hair, thanks to you!
I just finished following this tutorial. It worked brilliantly. My hair looks fantastic! It was awkward and frustrating at times but OMG! So much bounce and fluff!
3C hair here. I've been to every well known curly hair specialist in NYC since 2010. Because of this video I was able to give myself a better hair cut than any other I've received. Never going to a salon ever again!!!
The last time I had a haircut was January this year. My hair was looking awful and I really needed a haircut. I’m tired of spending tons of money every 3 months to get a haircut, so I decided I should learn how to cut my own hair. I was SO scared to do it, but this video was what I needed to just do it. I love the result!!! Thank you!!!

I just cut my hair and it looks amazing!!! Although I wasn't sure about the sectioning, since I have fine hair, it somehow worked out great. Thanks for this awesome video :)
Girl, I wish I had your curls, volume and confidence! I keep cutting my hair shorter and shorter, as I have fine hair that goes limp in the cooler months, and swells in summer humidity. I have a mix of 2A--3A, totally uneven pattern: tighter in the back, and 2A/almost straight on the crown & bangs. Hair wash day and styling is a lot of work, but I keep on trying natural, as I refuse to go back to blowouts and flat ironing and frying my hair! I need to remove more length on the top, and just might try this, thank you!!!
i usually cut my hair with a curly hair stylist but they’re very expensive, and i can’t afford going every three months so i used this tutorial. my hair looks amazing!! it has so much movement, and when it dries it looks so much better. i showed my mom and she loved but told me to never cut my own hair again 😭 either way thank u so much bc my hair came out amazing!!

Tried multiple hairdressers but never completely happen with results after paying alot, will give it a go thanks😂❤😊
So... I haven't cut my hair since at least 9 years. I trimmed them myself but never cut them. I will cut them today, because I don't feel the long hair anymore, however they are beautiful but still. I will take your video as a guide and thank the lord that I found you ❤❤❤❤❤
Avez-vous réussi à bien couper vos cheveux ? Je vais essayer aussi
Im licensed and you did great keeping your guide that’s the hardest part but it came out really good 👏🏾👏🏾
Wow thank you! That’s definitely the hardest part along with keeping the same angle
Does this method work on short hair ? I have shoulder length hair and got a “layered” dry hair cut for the salon in the summer and I hateeeee it
@@Skyahchannel aa
Hi Morgan! If you don’t mind telling me, where did you get your license?
Came here to say this exact thing! Haha
3rd time doing this cut and it never disappoints. Gives me the 'new woman' vibes I wish I could experience at the salon but never do. Paid $200 for my last cut - didn't include washing or styling and the result was nowhere near this 💫💥
Just wanted to say thanks for making this tutorial! I've been using every few months it for 2 years now! Best one I've found on TH-cam 😊
GIRL this changed my hair game omgggg im so obsessed wit my hair again🥺🥺🥺 THANK YOUU im definitely gonna follow for more because this tutorial was a blessing
I used this tutorial after my stylist friend recommended it. I followed it step by step. Best curly cut I've ever had. Thank you ❤
I’m a cosmetology student but we don’t really learn curly cuts and I DESPERATELY needed a haircut and I came across your video and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY HAIR!!
I always come back to this video every time I cut my hair. It’s so helpful and intuitive
It looked great every single time, and I plan on coming back every 3 months or so for this trim 😀
you remind me of Jane the virgin aka Gina Rodriguez😍 Great tutorial❤️
Gina the racist, don’t disrespect this woman with such a comparison
@@MiVidaBellisima I had to google what you mean and I don‘t know her any further..it wasn’t right what she did, but no one is perfect and I don’t think she is a racist...So no hate here for my comment pls!🙏🏼
yess me tooo
@@victoriakahtania No one accidentally says the n word, it’s very obvious that it is in her vocabulary. So don’t try to defend her by saying “no ones perfect” when she literally said a racial slur. There is no excuse to saying the n word.
Yesss omgggg for realll
I've cut my hair myself about 3x since March 2020. Two of them were absolutely terrible cuts, which forced me to spend that $200 on a curly cut. The last one I did was decent, but still had me saying "may be time to drop another $200". Then I randomly found this video, read the comments, immediately pulled out my hair scissors, and ohhh myyy gosh. I. Am. Obsessed. I'm legit never getting a professional curly cut again! I seriously can't believe how perfect it came out...the layers, the shape, everything! THANK YOU!
1am in the morning and so inspired to do this right now! Love how simple yet thorough the video was. Beautiful results.
A vid that gets straight to the point and thoroughly talks through 🥳
I have 3b type of curls, and i have thin hair. I tried it and it works perfectly for me. I love the result and everyone is asking me where did i get my haircut. Thank you so much you saved my curls they look voluminous and healthier now 😍
Girl I’ve used this video twice to cut my hair during the pandemic and it looks professionally cut. I just got a professional curly cut and didn’t really love it as much as when I followed your video.
I’ve used this video like 4 times already to cut my hair and I swear it never compares to the salon.
You are so pretty! Thanks for the tutorial. Will be trying it out rn. I am a Hairdresser Apprentice, and you’re very good at explaining things. You are so right about not having to have even sections for curly haircuts. I always forget that lol
I am going to try this on my hair! So impressed with all the details and end result!
Thank you!!
Just tried this cut on my six year old! It really brought her curls back to life! Great tutorial!
I just did this using your video and I LOVE my hair!!! You gave perfect instructions. Thank you thank you! I live in a town where there are no super star hair stylists. Now I’m one!!! Whoohooo!
This is perfect. I followed all the steps and I’m shocked. I am so satisfied. It’s my first time and I feel empowered.
Thank you for sharing.
GIRL ! I’m a freshly adult girl just know trying to discover about herself and I wanted to finally try something new on my hair , and came across your vid . Let me tell you it turned out so good ????!!! I tweaked a few things according to what I wanted and it still turned out amazing? THANK YOU ❤️❤️❤️ love from Morocco 🇲🇦
Thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous results! So much healthy volume and still definition.
Should never by any means cut curly hair , dry . It will damage it .that happen to me . By the owner of a hair salon 🥴
This is literally the BEST tutorial to follow! I loved my haircut so much ❤️❤️Thank you!!!
This is it...I'm going to try this cut today. 🙏🏻🤣 Pray to the universe!!
How did it turn out?
How it went?
How was it?
This is SO great - thank you so much for doing this. I've never cut my 3B curls myself other than a quick trim or chopping off a stray curl here and there, but after being a year on getting a cut BEFORE going into lockdown...it was in need. And I love love love the results! If I could figure out how to post before and after pics here I would. I watched this video a couple times and then used is as a guide as I cut, and then I just did a dry shaping (it's the next morning). My hair looks and feels great and it's making me SO happy. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for sharing ! I cut my low density hair yesterday and I'm in love with the results!
First and only video i sow, cut my hair the next day!!
Never did my own hair, never had bangs or big volume but OMG this looks amazing! Thank you so much
You did such a great job! I don’t think I could ever do this.
Thank you! =] I was scared lol
Yeah it’s pretty advanced lol
Never going to a salon ever again!!!
this is the golden goose egg of curly haircut tutorials
A. You’re GORGEOUS
B. So talented! Your family is lucky to have you cutting their hair!
C. Your bangs look awesome!!!!
This hair cut looks absolutely beautiful I must give it a try because I’m so bored of how flat the curls look
I just came back to say thank you for posting this. I cut my own hair recently and gave myself curly bangs, and it turned out so well, and this video really helped me out!!
You helped me shape my curls!!! I went to the vet the other day and the receptionist begged me to cut her hair 😂
Thank you! I have severe anxiety with getting my hair done because I’ve been “jacked” up so many times!
I just tried this..my god this worked like magic. Thank you for this tutorial ❤️ going to give my mom a hair cut too, she has super curly hair as well ! This tutorial is a godsend !
I've probably followed (loosely) your tutorial about 4 times. I have a side part so I had to adjust it slightly, but your technique renders the best results!!!
I’m a hairstylist student and thank you for this!! Super helpful seeing how you’re sectioning :)
I just cut my hair and it looks amazing!!! Although I wasn't sure about the sectioning, since I have fine hair, it somehow worked out great. Thanks for this awesome video :)
I did it yesterday it was so easy and I'm in love with the result
Girl, I wish I had your curls, volume and confidence! I keep cutting my hair shorter and shorter, as I have fine hair that goes limp in the cooler months, and swells in summer humidity. I have a mix of 2A--3A, totally uneven pattern: tighter in the back, and 2A/almost straight on the crown & bangs.
Hair wash day and styling is a lot of work, but I keep on trying natural, as I refuse to go back to blowouts and flat ironing and frying my hair! I need to remove more length on the top, and just might try this, thank you!!!
i usually cut my hair with a curly hair stylist but they’re very expensive, and i can’t afford going every three months so i used this tutorial. my hair looks amazing!! it has so much movement, and when it dries it looks so much better. i showed my mom and she loved but told me to never cut my own hair again 😭 either way thank u so much bc my hair came out amazing!!
i just watched this to cut my own hair after never having a good haircut and IT TURNED OUT SO GOOD I LOOK LIKE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSON and on the last few days of school too😔 i’m sad i didn’t do this earlier cause i LOVE IT NOWWW
I saw this video and thought what the hell, let’s do it! I’ll be honest… if I could give 10000 likes to this video I WOULD! I cannot believe how good the results are😍😍😍 Thanks thanks thanks!!! 💜💜
Wow! Just seen this video. Your hair is gorgeous! I cannot beleive how precise you did this cut, especailly with so much hair. I have similiar hair but dont have your precision or patience.
Fantastic!!! Love how you rounded out the bangs to suit your hair.
I tried so many hair saloon but never had a haircut as i wanted. But it is your hair shape i always wanna have. My hair is a little short but when it get longer i will definetely try to cut my hair like you. Thanks for learning us! Loves from İstanbul.
Hello! Thank you very much for the presice steps 🙏 Please, could you tell me how you cut your hair after 2 months, for example, if they are too long for you, and you want to make them a little bit shorter than they're at the end of this video?
🙏🌈
Did this straight away on my 3a curls and I am LOVING the volume!!
Hi, wondering if you have any tips on how yours turned out so well! I have 3A curls as well and some 2B. I followed all the instructions but unfortunately the bottom layer in back was way too thin and I had to cut off the length! My hair is very low density, maybe you have thicker hair? Thank you so much for any suggestions! Glad yours turned out so well! 🙏🏼
This is the third time I've used this video, you're an angel for sharing this my hair always looks so good afterwards!
J you did such a professional job and explained things so clearly. I have more of a level to Waze, so I’m not sure if this would work or not for me but I’m just starting to try and really pay more attention to how I treat my hair.
You actually have given me the guts to cut my own really curly hair... your video was excellent!
Thank you so much for this. My hair is fine/low density so I wasn't sure if it would work. The difference was my sections were just smaller than yours. I wasn't game enough to cut the bangs like you did so I trimmed them instead (same method). I love the results! My bouncy curls are back! 😍
