I had to replace the song due to a copyright issue. Here is the VoiceOver which was erased because of it:
“Okay. Now what I’m gonna do is I’m taking a small section from the front. My hair is parted in the middle and I’m taking about an inch from each side. And this way I’m also going to ensure that my hair is evenly cut and that my right side isn’t longer than my left side. So, I’m just gonna comb this straight up and I”m just gonna take a little bit off the top to make sure that both sides are the same length. Now I am going to do the exact same thing except this time I’m taking more hair from each side.”
In this video, I attempted a DIY rëzo-ish hair cut. My goal for this cut was to have a round hair cut all around, and more volume on all sides. I also added bangs and tried to frame my face with my curls. Let me know what you think and if you would try this type of hair cut on yourself. Also, if you do attempt this, I would suggest starting off by cutting a very small amount of hair from each section and perhaps try a horizontal angle instead of bringing your hair almost straight up like I did. This way, you can attempt a similar cut without cutting too much and you can always go back in and cut at higher angles little by little. If you are scared to try this, don't do it! I really don't want to be the reason someone messes up their hair. But if you think you got this, go for it!!!!!
If you're a haircut specialist, I'd love to hear your review of my makeshift haircut lol. I mostly used a technique I've seen other hairstylists use when I would get my own hair cut professionally and asked for a lot of layering. I also watched a bunch of other curly girls giving themselves haircuts, tried to blend different techniques together and altered some steps to what I believed would help me achieve the look I was going for. I'll be posting a video of how I achieved the more voluminous look you see in the images at the end of the video so you can see how to go from a flat look to a more round look like I did.

You did a great job! I actually started cutting my own curly hair before the pandemic and have been pleased with the results. Curly hair is SO forgiving! Today is the first time I watched videos and learned about the unicorn method. They all seem to start with the ends first, but I start with my bangs first and use them as a guide for the rest of the head. Granted, I am almost 60 years old, have thinner and shorter hair, so I suppose that makes a difference. It would be nice to see a video made for heads like mine.

I did this haircut 3 days ago, (except I didn't cut any bangs), and it looks so good! I wasn't as careful as you in sectioning it, I was a wee bit impatient, but I did keep my angles. I love it. It gives a great shape. I've had so many bad haircuts in my time, and I can't believe I did this myself. I did invest in a pair of professional hair cutting shears, and they definitely make a difference. Thanks for sharing this Shirley :-)

Now I’m at waist length (which is perfect) with all the qualities I wanted. It was long overdue. And although it was scary indeed my hair grows back extra fast so I didn’t worry too much. I tried this cut today and omg, I'm so in love with my curls! It was so easy to do after your video. I just watched once and felt inspired and confident to try it. When my husband saw me, he said "wow" haha. I'm so glad for your tutorial! I gave up trying to find a hair stylish to give a haircut with shape and volume like this after 3 years, so I was always feeling okay with my hair, but not completely happy. After following your tutorial, I'm feeling 100% happy with my curls again. Thank you!!

OMG, I did this yesterday evening after almost a year of no haircut and I love it sooo much😍😍 I can't thank you enough, this has made such a difference to my hair. It's like it's transformed. The curls are finally forming again! I've been struggling so much with them in the past years and didn't know why - now I do. My previous cut was just shit. But now, wow, the bounce, the volume, and of course they are so much healthier again. I think it's slightly uneven in the back but it's ok. Anyway, I was so scared and truly didn't know if I could do it and it was a lot more difficult than you made it seem😅😅 But I did it😁 And wow, I must say it feels so empowering have done this myself. Thank you so much!!😘

So grateful I found this video. I think I did something wrong cause its not as round as I would like. My hair is falling tho 4 months post partum right now. I am so happy with my cut regardless. I have been feeling down and in a funk and this cut really has given me some confidence. Your tutorial was so well put together and not boring so thank you for making it easy for me to do this. Eternally grateful!

I just trimmed my hair using your instructions and now I’m obsessed. 😂 I had to force myself to put the scissors down so I didn’t cut too much of my length off. I straightened it to cut it so I’m excited to see what it looks like when I wear it curly again.

Girl - you've got guts! End results....... AMAZING! I DID IT - IT'S BEAUTIFUL. I was so scared that my thinnning hair would look thinner but it's bouncy and exactly what I needed. By lifting up, you DON'T lose length (even though it looks like you're cutting too much hair). Thank you!

i usually cut my hair with a curly hair stylist but they’re very expensive, and i can’t afford going every three months so i used this tutorial. my hair looks amazing!! it has so much movement, and when it dries it looks so much better. i showed my mom and she loved but told me to never cut my own hair again 😭 either way thank u so much bc my hair came out amazing!!

I've cut my hair myself about 3x since March 2020. Two of them were absolutely terrible cuts, which forced me to spend that $200 on a curly cut. The last one I did was decent, but still had me saying "may be time to drop another $200". Then I randomly found this video, read the comments, immediately pulled out my hair scissors, and ohhh myyy gosh. I. Am. Obsessed. I'm legit never getting a professional curly cut again! I seriously can't believe how perfect it came out...the layers, the shape, everything! THANK YOU!

I did this cut on myself 2 years ago and i’ll be doing it again in a few days. For the ones wondering, despite her not advising to do this on straight hair, this cut has ALWAYS looked great even when i would give myself a blow out, regardless of the length of my hair. When i first did it, my hair was jawline length when straighten and its now under my bra when straighten as well. During the growth phase of my hair i would periodically give myself blow outs and the layers from this cut would look AMAZING either way! I HIGHLY recommend this cut if you want something versatile and with lots of body and volume

Thank you so much for this. My hair is fine/low density so I wasn't sure if it would work. The difference was my sections were just smaller than yours. I wasn't game enough to cut the bangs like you did so I trimmed them instead (same method). I love the results! My bouncy curls are back! 😍
