Thanks for this video, I just bought a 69 and it has the original suspension in it. I'm just about to drop more hp into it and was trying to decide on what suspension upgrade I was going to go with and I think you just helped me with this, respect.
You just helped me decide to follow through and go with ridetechs 4 link with your video. Extremely descriptive and actually showing the kinks and how you centered the diff. The explanation detail here got you a sub. Keep on keeping on!
nice job...I have a 67 Camaro I installed the Ridetech 4 link in.. had the same problem with the cradle..also striped the bolts and had to weld it in. and where the cradle meets the trunk. With the design of the trunk floor there are 4 groves that keep the cradle from sitting flush I had to modify them to get it in right..not exactly bolt in lol...for those who are still researching this project... That being said I love the Ridetech design and would recommend it....also.... love the fact that its your daily driver.
Great video. I assume you're ex-military and was stationed in Panamá. Also veyr nice touch the displays of the US flag and the Panamá flag. I love your car, '67 400 with 4 spd Hurst shifter was my first, back around 1973.
Great video! I plan on doing a ride tech 4 link on my 68’ Camaro RS next winter along with my 383 stroker rebuild. Great detail in your video got me to sub for sure keep it up man.💯
I noticed at 9:22 in the video, that you have the lower coil over mounts mounted for the mono leaf set up. In the instructions for the weld in brackets, they should be put in the multi leaf holes. The original instructions from Ridetech for the 4 link does not say this, but the instructions for the weld in brackets do. Just readjusted mine by moving them up a whole to the multileaf set up since I also have weld on lower brackets.
great video, thanks for sharing. I wonder if this four link system utilizes an anti sway bar like the classic leaf spring setups. Does it even need anti-roll functionality?
Awesome! I’ll be installing mine in a few weeks. Nice to see it done before I tackle it. I’m documenting my build as well on my channel if you want to take a look.
I need to add the driving impressions. It rides, handles and hooks up way better with the 4 link. The adjustable shocks are also great because depending on what type of driving I am shopping, I adjust the shocks for the ride or performance i want. It has around 3000 wonderful miles on it and I'm loving every minute of it.
I brought my 4link years ago and haven't gotten to installing them. Seems like it changed a lot. My lower trailing arms arent adjustable and the cradle has two mounting tabs on the front where it bolts to the floorpan.
Old video I know but well explained. So I have a 67 firebird. I am deciding if I want to go through with the whole Mini tub install (detroit kit), 9" swap(quick performance). I was hoping you could answer some questions since you seem to have just what I am looking for. Id prefer to call you but in any case... Were you able to use the stock Gas tank or did you have to go to a narrowed tank? I prefer my exhaust to exit out to the stock location or at least past the rear tires with some type of tailpipe...is that possible with a 2.5 - 3" exhaust? Is there room to do that with this Ridetech kit? Any help would be appreciated!
What a cool video! You seem to know what you’re talking about. I could use a little help - I’m new to carbureted cars. Could you make an instructional video on how to properly start a carbureted engine for us younger folks who don’t know how? Especially with what to do with the gas pedal. If you got anything without a choke - even better since mine don’t have one. Subscribed!
Did you ever notice any creaking noises in the gas tank area after switching to the four link? I was kind of thinking that my car could be flexing in the back since there isn’t a leaf spring holding up the back of the frame rail anymore? Not sure just asking around to see if anyone else had this problem…
Hello, do you find a lot of diff noise being transmitted into the car? My 68 Camaro is a 12 bolt car, lots of gear noise now, on second set of Motive gears.
Did you set the front ride height when you was setting your rearend pinion angle? I’m at this phase now and I am not sure if I need to find the angles of my crank, driveshaft, and adjust my rearend pinion as needed to be in the pinion range or do I just set my rear end pinion to say, 3 degree and not worry and the crank and drive shaft angles?
@@gregoryyoakum215 I did this one a long time ago before the Eastwood tool was around and just patiently worked front to back and back to front with a body hammer. Hammering a little at a time worked pretty well. It took a while but didn't cause any body damage
The rear end is 58.5" wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface. The wheels are 15x8 with 4.5" backspacing. The fender lips are rolled and it's minitubbed and clears great. More backspacing would center the wheel in the wheelwell better, it wouldn't clear fenders with any less
They can be mounted either way. Not all shocks can be mounted "upside down", but these are very high quality shocks and can be mounted either direction. Mounting them this way gives easier access to the rebound rate adjustment knob. Mounting some shocks this way reduces the unsprung weight improving suspension response, but according to ridetech the weight is about the same either way they are mounted.
It rides slightly more firm than on original springs, but not punishing. It handles corners much better now, and allows for fine tuning the ride and handling. It's perfect.
Hi. With all due respect, my '69 SS Camaro was ok with factory setup. When I seriously considered a four link kit I decided against it because of cost and the damage that would be incurred by installing the thing. In my mind it just wasn't worth the time or expense. Just my opinion.
Beautiful car! I had a 67 firebird. Thinking about putting a 4 link in my 67 camaro. Great info

Great tip about the flexible strip caulking. I have never heard of the stuff.
Finally somebody working on a bird. Keep it up

Thanks for the comment. Let us know when you are ready to go with the 4 link. We can get you a good price and help you plan the project out.
I love you dad

AWESOME VIDEO!!! I have the same thing on my 67
great video hopefully mine go smooth
Great video, good work .. Now turn your shocks around, they are on upside down.
I just subscribed brother great 👍🏼 videos 🤙

Hi, great video. Did you have to adjust pinion angle after install? Mine is not correct and I'm curious how to adjust it. Thank you for any input
nice Video 👍
How much clearance do you gain? In regards to wheel size?
Nice job great video. I’ve been looking into this kit and am very interested in the follow up review on the ride and performance after the install

Any chance you could do a review video of the 4-link. I’m in the process of installing mine and would love to hear your thoughts

how does it ride now ? i want to do a watts link it travels up and sown with no side to side from what ive seen
Its been a couple of years since you did your rear suspension, how do you like it?
Great video!
It is great! I would definitely run it again. Thanks for the kind words
What are dimensions of rear tire? Also I see your fender is cut or rolled? Which did you do?
The rear tires are 295-50-r15. There is a lot of extra room for bigger tires since it is mini tubbed. The fenders are rolled not cut.
@@classicridesarizona7375 how did you roll them? I've seen the Eastwood tool. Looks pretty brutal to me. Have any issues with body waving, etc? Thanks

What size tire are you running. Looks really good!
Thanks! They are 295 50 15 rear 215 60 15 front
How wide is your 9 inch axle flange to axle flange. How much backspacing are you running on your rims

@@Camaro-1969 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment and ask a question. If one person has a question others will have the same question
Can you please post a video of your mini tub?
We will video the next minitub we do.
So how's it ride?
