Just purchased a 2016 Toyota 4Runner...I like many others, want a safe product/built in the USA/and has been around for some time. Its the same price as the Pedal commander, so why wouldn't you go with Banks!
Track mode is great in the dirt with traction control off. You can easily push the back around. The sluggish pedal makes it a dog in the dirt without the boost.
Just got one and installed on my 2023 4Runner but two of the advertised safety features aren’t working. Speed Trim and Reverse Safety. Called and talked to their technicians but there is currently no fix. Can only hope it comes sooner in a firmware update. Was told it’s the same situation with 2024 models at this point.

I guess im the opposite of most people, I like the nice easy and low rpm accellerations from the stock 4Runner, when I get on the highway, I hit it a bit more and itll go without spending more money.
Very informative video! I once had a pedal commander and although I enjoyed it, it did throw a code and it sent my car into limp mode. Since then I never used another throttle booster again due to lack of trusting anything else. Maybe one day I’ll learn to trust these again, I’d love to have pep back in my 4Runner
So far so good for me, I shot this about a week ago so now it’s been two weeks with no issues. Surprisingly no decrease in MPG either. It’s going to stay with me and I’ve already returned the Commander and won’t be posting my video on it as I don’t want to encourage people to buy it and have an issue.
Im one of those guys who got the code and went limp almost in the highway bc of pedal commander! I just got banks pm just yesterday and scouting for reviews b4 i install it hopefully this is the one im looking for.
So the PC only works if your cellphone wifi is connected via app? Or does it remember the setting you last used so if someone else borrows the vehicle(kid/spouse) it stays in that setting? Update a month later: installed it on my '17 4R Magnussen supercharged and it now RIPS! Sport #1 setting. I was going to regesr to 4:56 - not anymore. I turned trac control off and can boil the 34s from a dig and NO NEED to manually downshift anymore. Truck is hyper enough now to leave in D and it down shifts fast now.
Pedal commander sucks for 5th gen 4runner. Had it for 1 1/2 years and got 4 error codes. Mainly letting me know there was a throttle malfunction then the car started throwing a whole bunch of errors. Don't use it no more waste of money.
I’ve had tow pedals commanders in two different 4Runner models, no issues. So by that logic, they’re perfect. Why would I listen to anyone else? 👍🤪🏳️🌈

You can't go wrong with Banks. They do their homework. Very well thought out and well made products. Made my 4runner....dare I say, fun to drive.

Do you have to remove the PM if you take you truck in for a oil change or for warranty service ?
You should to avoid pushback from the dealer. It's not hard to remove.

Setting stays the same no matter what. Saves to whatever the last setting was regardless of app/bluetooth.
It happened to the ones that didn't follow the instructions about how far to have the key fob while installing it.

Hmm wondering if the phone app is required all the time or just setting it up it would be a pain to have to load the app everytime
It boots up to the previous saved setting each time you get in.
Do you have to connect it to your phone each time you get in the car in order to use or only if you wish to change the settings?
Just to change the settings. Otherwise it stays in the last setting it was on.

Couldn't you just give it more throttle, that's what it's doing anyway just more throttle body opening at a lower input from the peddle
Yes, it’s essentially doing the same thing as flooring it. But you have less pedal travel before it kicks in.
You'd think that would be the case wouldn't you… But it isn't, it's just like a completely different vehicle when you install one of these.
