  • Helping keep the Silverado 4L60E alive as long as possible with an upgraded transmission cooler. Excited to tow again to see what difference it makes.
    Update: The transmission stays around 180 degrees now while towing the camper or the Jeep.

    Great video! I know these take time to edit/upload. If I may, include part number of kit in description, and maybe a link or shout where you purchased from.
    Second, maybe some closeups of the work you are performing, especially modding the brackets. I for one can sort that easy but some folks will find it really helpful! Thanks again for the review and all the feedback, I feel confident in purchasing one for my 04 6.0 hd. Same line setup and cooler configuration.

    I used the Gap 40k cooler kit and some AC Delco trans line fittings and didn't have to cut lines or use the rubber hose.original lines with a little bending went in factory.

      @recklesslyfestyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Mine did the same before this upgrade. That won’t happen anymore. I pull a 30’ RV and it doesn’t go above 160 degrees even when the ambient temperature was 100 degrees.

      Got back home last night. Pulled my 32ft. RV about 650 miles round trip of course with the new transmission cooler.. Im very impressed the highest reading it got with a 94degree day was 169degress on the tranny temp.. That's a 40degree cooler...I Recommend the cooler and this video made the installation super easy thanks again

    How’d you get the rubber hose to attach to the stock cooler lines???

    • @recklesslyfestyle
      @recklesslyfestyle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s comes with fittings. Threaded on one side, that attaches to the stock lines. Barbed on the other side for the rubber hose. It made it incredibly easy. You can also cut the end off the stock line with a tube cutter and buy compression fittings to convert to AN fittings.

  • @0mgapie
    @0mgapie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Did you use the adapters included in the kit for the truck side fittings? Or did you have to cut back on the pipe?

    • @recklesslyfestyle
      @recklesslyfestyle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used the adapters. It’s a very complete kit and made everything really easy. Just screw them into the end of the tubes where you detach the stock cooler and connect it to the new cooler with the rubber hose that’s also in the kit.

    My pickup has the cooler in the radiator. Wanting to install a kit just like this one. Do you think I could run the coolers in series this way or should I totally bypass the cooler in my radiator? Thanks

    • @recklesslyfestyle
      @recklesslyfestyle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The one in your radiator should be the engine oil cooler. Mine has the same. Your trans cooler should be a little black cooler in front of your radiator. If not, yes, I’d run them in series. It makes a huge difference.

    • @BoringFisherman
      @BoringFisherman ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@recklesslyfestyle it is definitely the trans cooler in the passenger side of the radiator. And I don't believe I have an engine oil cooler on my truck. It's the 4.8 in a 2wd extra cab pickup.

    • @recklesslyfestyle

      @@recklesslyfestyle That's what I was figuring. I believe my van has a 4l80e which is a better transmission then the 4l60e but my van has 209,000km I'm from Canada so it would be 130,000 miles. But better cooling is always better for a transmission 🇨🇦👍👍

      @recklesslyfestyle5831 no, you know what your doing, your not an idiot. Your mounting was good. Just needed to show people how to make connections on the fluid side. Alot of people are struggling with it. And a few videos out there with bypassing the radiator cooling system and not telling people in cold climates that it is needed to get the transmission up to proper temperature. What fittings to use, proper rubber hose type for transmission fluid ect... Thanks for the fast reply. I will thumbs up.
