    I think the smaller plant is the Stenopetala Variety.... which is Very hard to find, grows slower than the Oleifera, but... I've read are a bit more nutritious and slightly different flavor...

    I assume that the reddish small one must've been either a mutation or a recessive trait from one of the previous versions of moringa it came from if these seeds came from the same plant OR it is just a moringa seed coming from a different variety compared to the other seeds. Well, it's not impossible to have two different moringa varieties beside each other when the seed seller harvested these seeds from his/her plants.
    Here in the Philippines, I have observed two kinds of moringa varieties in the market tho: the one with the greenish stem and the one with the reddish stem.

    fresh leaves are much better than powder. I started a big batch of seedlings this season. Picked a branch today and added fresh leaves to my pico de gallo salsa which I ate with cornchips and kebab wrap! The mental clarity and good mood is almost immediate and long lasting

    Great video! These are some of the easiest seeds I've ever grown. I dropped 7 in nursery containers and two in zip lock bags wrapped in wet paper towels and they all germinated. I didn't soak them. I only need two so I'm giving the rest away. I live in New Orleans and it's still really hot here so they are growing really well with lots of leaves. I can't wait to start making my own Moringa leaf powder!

    I sowed them some time ago and i don't know what was going on but at some point i dug them up and broke them open and there were little white grubs inside that ate all the inside of the seeds. I guess i'll just have to try it again with the 4 seeds i have left but i will do that in summer at high temperatures. Nice looking plants!

    The smaller one may be one of a few reason, it may be a different cultivar or breed of Moringa that got mixed into the batch, could be a dwarf or it may of been caused by cross pollination from another source/Species.

    My guess is that the tap root on the smaller plant didn't grow well. The tap root on your taller plants should be about 3 to 4 inches long but my guess is that the smaller one is deficit. When you transplant be very careful because I transplanted and broke a tap root. that plant is not growing but is still green. May I suggest that if you start another plant that you do it i a taller pot so that you won't have to transplant again until the plant is a year old. I heard that the tap root is much stronger and is more able to withstand the transfer to a larger pot.

    I think it's better to leave the shell on because it absorbs water that the seed can use if the soil dries up. Just a theory.
    I soak the seeds on wet paper towel inside sealed plastic food box. This is to insure that a seed is alive before planting it in soil mini pots. If you plant a seed in a soil pot before germinating, the seed might be dead and not come up so you wasted pot space for a dead or weak seed.
    I think that reddish seedling might be a weak seed.

    • @Growyourheirlooms
      @Growyourheirlooms  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Whenever it dries out depending on the weather. In the hot 90+ it might get watered every day. In the spring maybe once a week

    I think I'm going to try to grow a plant or two in a fabric bag that I can move into a warmer location during winter. I'll probably prune it to try to keep it smaller.

    I have 4 trees started here in Arizona, and it is very hot in Quartzsite. I just planted mine in tact and they grew just fine. I am concerned about overwatering, but as I said it is really hot, so I water every day. With really good drainage. Maybe there are Male and female plants??

    the mutated one's possibly a nicked seed. maybe why others prefer to keep seed husk on to avoid nicking the actual seed. 🤷‍♀

      They are in the greenhouse. I have to serious;y prune them back because I have not found a spot to plant them outside. When I do get them in the ground, I'll do a video on it,

    There are two kinds of moringa trees. One has a small leaf and one has a larger leaf. You might have one of the large leaf tree.

    I don't really know what the difference could be with two being alike and one different, but what came to mind though is maybe the difference might be male and female.
