I prefer when dashes are designed around the driver, especially the ever-more intrusive touch screens. Tilt them towards the driver as that's the individual that matters. It's not a driver-centric vehicle otherwise. Even my wife's Tuscon has a dash that is molded in towards the driver. Love it.
@@hasepahljevici2120 It's stupid on the Genesis, I don't like how they implement it with that black box in the console with two red dots looking back at you. They still haven't figured out how to hide it or at least make it flush and flow with the console. I'm actually glad the G70 doesn't have it and this is a rare opinion as it seems like most people haven't actually looked at the gauge in person or driven models that have it (GV70), lots of people complain about it and they all seem like potential buyers or simply people who don't know better.
Owner of a 2019 G70 3.3T AWD here. It's an excellent car in most ways. I'm really bewildered by the mileage rating as myself and most forum members/owners I've spoken to get much better. On my end I average 22-24 city/suburb driving, 26-28 freeway commute and had 32mpg on a 600 mile roadtrip. My biggest gripe is actually the traction control; it's way too aggressive cutting throttle. Being AWD it rarely kicks in, but making L/R turns coming out of something like a parking lot exit gutter, that small bump REALLY bogs the car. And the backseat is nearly as tight as my Mustangs. The resale sucks- that's why I bought mine used! You can get an amazing, lightly used car in the $30k's.

The G70 has a lot of color options, but I don't like the fake exhaust. I liked the real exhaust tips on the 2.0L inline 4. I noticed they said a few times, 'we got top spec, so it has so and so.' Yet those features are standard. Must be because they are beemer owners and not used to these things being standard for some time.
I much prefer the original design, which had some nice creases to the exterior. The refresh looks like a blob with a Superman grill. Tacky. I usually root for the underdog, but I'm not sure I'd choose this over a BMW 3-series. I say that as someone who isn't a huge fan of BMW. You're paying a BMW price for a vehicle with a Hyundai dealership experience and no clout. I do love the interior design though and that engine sounds fantastic.
I think the 2.0L Turbo they had before was plenty enough for this vehicle for how small and light it is. It's much more reliable due to the accessibility it offered. Although I don't recommend it, you could drain the oil from above. Every piece of the inline 4 is accessible from the hood.
@@SlipAngleG70 Couple reasons: A) It's more powerful. Not much but is. B) Has greater tuning potential thanks to the size. C) 3.5T Has both port and direct injection while the 3.3T only has direct injection. DI only engines get carbon buildup over time.
@@acerimmer8338 Yeah, I know the 3.5T is bigger and has port and DI -- but my point is that the 3.3T is very lightly tuned and can make 450hp without breaking a sweat, so there really is no need for Genesis to refit the 3.5T in a car that will likely go away soon.
The quilted leather throughout the doors and seats is beautiful craftsmanship that sets this brand a step further from their Hyundai roots. The base engine is also impressive considering its Hyundai’s strongest engine that goes in their sonata n-line models. Despite the cool interior and standard sporty drive, I do have a few concerns. For the price, is it really a better deal than a sonata N-line or the sonata limited? For sub 40k you can get that sporty drive in a tech heavy cabin or a more fancy refined experience in the limited. I am not saying that genesis doesn’t have its value on its own but I’m not sure I’d go with the G70 over a sonata. Med size cabin, much better gas mileage, great value, same warranty, and you save around 5k from the base g70. The 365hp AWD is amazing but with that fuel economy and how small the back is; I wonder what the daily livability is like. TLDR: personally I’d pick the sonata over the g70. Better value, more livable for daily use, better size. (Or id go for the G80)
The reliability will probably be better with the G70 since it's a longitudinal drive train. It's much easier to service the inline 4. The primary reason for poor reliability is a lack of maintenance, and things that are hard to reach probably won't be maintained. The G70 has a RWD option in the US. It also may have a better dealer experience since Genesis is trying to make their experience equivalent to Lexus. But that... depends on the dealer.
Such a beautiful car, I can't fuckin believe Genesis is discontinuing it, it makes absolutely no sense. The 1st car to seriously give the German trinity actual competition. However, if we’re talking about m performance and uniqueness im going the genesis route even though this is 4k more expensive than you guys 54k 330e if I recall correctly. BMW is much better overall in technology, we’ve seen it but these are gonna be more special I think because from what i’ve been hearing, the G70 is being called off within the next year or 2. My biggest issue with this is the lack of space. I myself sat in this backseat and its just not it. Its not really good whatsoever minus the nice materials. And at 58 no heated seats 🤨? Thats a bummer
Imho, the BMW 3-Series and the Audi A4 are basically untouchable in this class. The quality of those is head and shoulders above all competitors, the Benz C-Class is actually quite soundly beaten in quality by the BMW/Audi at this level, Benz isn't competitive until you get to E-Class or higher. A Genesis simply isn't even in the same ballpark from an engineering or build or material quality; even the Alfa Romeo Giulia has a vastly superior Ferrari-designed platform architecture to the G70.

You're ignorant. I've owned several different cars, all with turbochargers: from Nissan, (2) Subarus, (2) VWs, and (3) BMWs. Not one of them had any problems with the turbochargers. The turbos on all these models are probably the single most robust, best engineered, and tested components. I don't think Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac, and Bentley would allow turbochargers or superchargers on their engines if there was any chance they would fail prematurely or over stress the engine. Alternatively, virtually every diesel engine sold in North America is turbocharged.
I sold my 2022 G70 3.3t awd a week ago after owning it for less than 2 years, the car is quick but it burns a lot of gas and it is not reliable, if you put it in sport+ and drive it hard the car will go in limp mode while you are driving it which can be very dangerous! 24 if you don't push it, basically a C class Mercedes.
If you care for MPG this nice cars are not for you, get yourself corrola, sentra, accent or something like that
I get 20 in sport doing dumb shit. 28 in normal. 32 in economy.
If it came down to luxury and features I would definitely go the bmw route if we’re comparing you guys 330e vs this.
You're better off just getting the 2022 model and save money, cause they haven't really changed anything. This is why they're discontinuing the g70 lineup
Not discontinuing..
@@SlipAngleG70they are, in Korea they said 2025 is the final year. The kia stinger which was the sister car is already discontinued sadly...
@@RenNakamura20 I'll believe it when I see it. No dealers in Canada have been told 25 is the last year. What they do say is the G70 is the 3rd best selling Genesis model. Why stop selling then?
Actually I would recommend whatever year they changed the steering wheel design, it looks much better. That being said they changed the rims which is shown in this video, I really dislike them and prefer the 2022 Prestige wheels, I am almost certain they retained them in the 2023 model but updated the steering wheel.
Guys... I have always enjoyed your reviews. Please consider not getting so technical with the graphs/data. I suspect many of us simply prefer BLUF and KISS (Bottom Line Up Front and Keep It Simple S**).
WTF
The low reserve lights placement = won’t buy this car.
Who gives a damn ??
Nothing is new.
TBH there are slim to no upgrades. Especially If you compare it to the facelift of the GV70. No wireless carplay/andriod auto and USB-A port instead of C in a 2025 model? Come on... Dont get me wrong the car itself is good. I was actually driving a 2022 model for a month, wich literally looked the same than this version. The much needed update especially for the interior still has to be done and will pply come next year. Personally i like the car but i wouldnt buy it this year and wait for a real upgrade.
The only luxury on this sedan are the seats and door panels. Evrything else (center console screens, dashboard etc) is the same as any other mainstream sedan. And then no wireless apple carplay nor android auto. Sad for the price. 😒😒😒
No ambient lighting no fully digital g70 basically pointless all the other options of genesis are better
I like this car, but I still will chose the pinnacle of this segment which is a BMW M340i
... yeah and spit 25K$ more for equivalent options..... Go ahead !! Don't forget. LEASE your beemer ....
@@bigden2755 25k ain’t nothing to me and I already lease my 23 x3M40 currently my next lease is a M3
Where you are 3 years ago I would give you my piece of shit 2020 M340I Xdrive 70% off
That was the worst vehicle I ever had
I traded it for best car ever
G70
@@hasepahljevici2120 sorry to hear. Was it brand new used ? I don’t have absolutely no issues with my x3M40… and okay you have the rights to express your opinions about the g70
@Mr.Lambert777
Brand new
Sized Turbo
Front axle Boot cracked
Clogged injector and more little things
Warranty cover 85% But car spends too much time at BMW ,
And it broke 1000mi away from home , it messed up all my vacation
This car is coming just like the infinity Q60 every year with slight updates, well other brands making bigger step ...in Korea it has the digital screen for years in north America they giving us this boring screen 👎🏾
SMH
Digital is stupid on all new cars same like someone put 2-3 tablets together very very ugly
Analog the best
Wouldn't have a turbo They wear out too fast
You're ignorant. I've owned several different cars, all with turbochargers: from Nissan, (2) Subarus, (2) VWs, and (3) BMWs. Not one of them had any problems with the turbochargers. The turbos on all these models are probably the single most robust, best engineered, and tested components. I don't think Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac, and Bentley would allow turbochargers or superchargers on their engines if there was any chance they would fail prematurely or over stress the engine. Alternatively, virtually every diesel engine sold in North America is turbocharged.
some Hyundais are luxurious than this.. like the new sonata
More or less luxurious?
@@JohnnyUtah9173 Never mind him.... He's clueless ....
I sold my 2022 G70 3.3t awd a week ago after owning it for less than 2 years, the car is quick but it burns a lot of gas and it is not reliable, if you put it in sport+ and drive it hard the car will go in limp mode while you are driving it which can be very dangerous! There are several recalls on the car check it out before you buy it, and the resale on the car is very bad too. I will ever buy a Hyundai vehicle again.
Burns gas, yes. Limp mode is rare and hardly dangerous..
Good rid .....
No wireless... not good. And small screen ... looks like after though.. i will pass on this model...
Good !!
Meh.
The inside is not that tech cool like the competition..💯🗣️
COOL ??? Are you 16 ??
@@bigden2755 probably. His other comments are just as deluded
Although the G70 Genisis is a good looking car, runs strong, etc., they are not known for long-term reliability. I would go with a Camry XSE or a Lexus IS350 instead.
Opposite is true. I've had 2
@@SlipAngleG70 Really? I guess you don't read Consumer Reports Magazine or subscribe online. You really should check it out. You will see the results back up what I have stated.
2025 Is a new model. How can you have an opinion on reliability when the car is completely new? All cars can reach up to 8 years old before any major problems and even 10 if you maintain them on time.
Cause the genesis as a whole has been around since 2007/2008 they’ve always been built pretty well for those that take care of em.
