Dan was fishing for the Carmelo Anthony answer from the beginning, but he got thrown for a loop when Karl said Joe Barry Carroll was the biggest diva he ever coached (yah i hadn't heard of him either, if you hadn't).....Dan worked hard and eventually brought the conversation around to Anthony though.

A lifelong Warrior fan! The #1 pick in the draft where the Warriors traded Robert Parish and the #3 pick (Kevin McHale) and the #13 pick Rickey Brown for the rights to Joe Barry Carroll a traditional back to the basket 7’! He coached JB Carroll years later with the Warriors I believe in ‘87 in the playoffs.
They didn’t get along and after one playoff game it was stated that Karl got upset (I assume at JB Carroll) and tore up the locker room.
Karl always had a fiery personality. JB did not and the styles clashed. I see it clashed with many others as well. His teams played well. But some of them had a lot of talent as well.

I don't agree with Karl calling out Melo father or other players. As a coach, you have to take a certain responsibility to lead your players. That means even being a father to them. I think Karl wasn't that great of a coach for Melo and the Nuggets for 8 years and lost in the first round every year besides 2009. Whatever Melo wanted to be a complete player or not, Karl failed the Nuggets and pointing fingers didn't help anyone after the fact. For Karl to say what he did 6 years after Melo left was silly.

I think he was rightm. people get so offended nowadays he said they acted like brats and then not having fathers lead to acting like self entitled babies. had they had fathers to teach them manhood it surely would have been different. all the players he mentioned had troubles listening and biting the bullet and "manning up" up the sport of basketball. they all wanted to do things their way and never listened. I didn't have a father in still learning things I should have known a boy needs their father or some role model most of the time a mother can't teach them these things most of the time
