    George Karl's comments were cowardly. He's out here telling people they could have been better men but waited years to defame another man's character. He wouldn't dare tell that to anyone of their faces.

      Santoro Vision I beg to differ look at Lebron James it great friend, great father, and great husband. He's never in trouble only thing he might overstep certain things on his team if he feels it will make them better.

      Rick S- I wish more people would understand the concept and importance of per capita when interpreting statistics.
      >
      The response is to always point to anecdotal evidence and then act as if they disproved the argument being presented.
      >
      As I stated in my original comment, "Of course it doesn't GUARANTEE success" to have both parents active in their child's life, I never made that argument. The point I was making is that having both parents, specifically a father (or even a father figure) increases the chances of the child's success dramatically.

    I'm from Denver and been a life long Nuggets fan. George Karl was wrong with these statements. While Melo, JR, and K-Mart weren't the best players to coach. Yet, the way he went and attacked them and their families was unjust. Not sure why he said this. I've known George Karl my whole life and have talked to him many times and this doesn't seem like him...yet he needs to really change the way he things about people because this is a problem.

      I agree completely, I live under a single parent and to go out of your own way to comment like that... is an act of disrespect on their person and how they were brought up. How does he not think about how Kenyon, Melo and JR parent's feel about this? It's disappointing on how, some NBA/Ex NBA players are in the crossfire regarding this... I'm very happy Kenyon spoke on how he felt and was very straightforward with it. To Melo, JR Swish and Kenyon keep being you, move forward enjoying your lives, and how you got there because each of you endured different things but became stronger because of that :)

    Yes you can be successful without two parents and having two parents doesn't necessarily guarantee success, but all the studies show having two parents is a crucial part of a persons development. Also, success is not the only crucial element of having two parents. Not having fathers affects men's relationships with women in adulthood as well as womens relationships with men.

    • @QCongress83
      @QCongress83 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yeah, having both parents in a child's life does help a lot but there's no guarantees. People can have both parents in their lives and still turn out jacked up. George Karl was talking about fatherless kids and these players in a shady, greasy and disrespectful way.
      Plus, Martin mentioned that Karl felt J.R. Smith's father was around him too much. Which one is it? Just because somebody says something doesn't mean they have good intentions behind it, and we as Black people have to stop taking other races' talking points because they don't take none of ours.

The biggest problem my community faces today is the lack of fathers, mostly because black women have no problem with having kids with no fathers present, because they think they can raise kids without fathers. Thus black women most times do not take birth control, which is why they lead the nation in both out of wedlock rate AND abortion rate by a longshot. Karl probably shouldn't have said it but he is right, although it's uncomfortable I will admit

    • @Moneygetjealous
      @Moneygetjealous 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      MrKravonGill it's a figure of speech dude. Seriously it is that hard to understand? When people said their mom is this the mother and father at the same time, it means the mother takes on the role of both parents to raise her kids. She does motherly things like taking care of them in a maternal way but also do things for them that fathers would do. So many amazing single mothers was able to accomplished that. A single mother has to take that role. Just like a single dad taking both roles of a mother and father. A single parent have to find a way to fill both roles because their kids will need it. Do you think that because a mom isn't a dad, she would be like oh I can't do that for you because I'm not your dad?

    • @MrKravonGill
      @MrKravonGill 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The greatest gift God gave me, my Mom, thank you to all the single mothers, you are not celebrated enough. • @tarico4436

    Yes and no, but mostly no. When someone makes a comment that basically says that a woman can not, 'scuse me, let me repeat myself, a woman can not do the job of both mother and father....... when a person says as much, he or she is not cutting down your mamma. I get it. Somebody from a single parent family headed by a mom is gonna be uppity. Is gonna be defensive. I get that. What's done is done and you're the exception to the rule Kenyon: you turned out great. Your mom did a great job. Barkley's mom did a great job. But the truth is most moms in these single parent fam situations don't do so great. Sixty percent of our prisoners come from single parent families headed by moms. We need to change our divorce laws. It's too easy for women to just say, "Wup, I'm done. I want all the money, but I don't want to have to deal with a man." And so 70% of all divorces are initiated by women. Because they can get about as much money, but kick the father out, never let the father see his children, and these women get to control things. And it's ruining the children from these families. It's ruining MOST of the children from these families.

    1:49 I do. I have social anxiety and don't like the attention. Now I'm feeling a bit disrespected by those remarks. You saying I'm a horrible person because I'm nervous around people?

    K - Martin is right up until him saying his mom's was his pip as well as his mom's? A mother could never ve a father or vise versa although I understands what he means.
    Last thi g anyone should do is disrespect another man's moms.. Dad you may get a pass but mom's more than likely not!

    All you need to know is George Karl did not have in bounds plays. That tells you everything. Part of being coach is being a mentor. George Karl was neither a coach nor a mentor. He lived off the coat tails of the great players of the teams he coached. Very little of the value he added. I went a long time thinking it was the players, and all this time it was Karl was garbage.

    i just want to know if karl was right ? you've said yourself kenyon you've gotten into fights and arguments while in denver you hung with the wrong crowd ect. cause im comparing what he said with your "answers" and im feeling like karl my have a valid point cause hes not talking about you today hes talking about you 10 years ago

      ShakeDownShane. What Gerorge Karl said was kinda right but to an extent. Yes, keyon (nor melo or j.r.) had a father and acted up some times yet, their teammates all said they were great, plus they got it done on the court. And if they "didn't have a father figure," it should have been his job to step in as a father figure. But what he said was outta line and he shouldn't have said it.

      I'm with Ice Shadow. It seems like he cares now all of the sudden to make another quick buck since he is out of a job. Kinda annoying. Especially because he knows the bad pub is still good pub. The best thing for Kenyon to do would be to say something like "i'd be worried if people actually cared enough to buy his book" lol
