Delia has been one of the most iconic and calming and asmr gentle voice chefs theres been on television for a long time.🥰🥰😘 Thank you so much for sharing a living UK and universal legend.👏👏👏
I have strong memories of hearing the !wack! from the kitchen as my Nan makes scones 😆 My great-aunt never bothered to use a cutter, she just cut the dough into squares. They were enormous!
Me to, I watched her Sunday Lunch recipe all those years ago in 1996 with my mam and never forgot it and I was delighted to find it episode again 10 years ago on TH-cam
Best cook in Britain - why is she not Dame Delia?? If you buy one book make it Delia's complete cookery course. I have been following her since I was girl - people say I am an excellent cook - I owe much to Delia!
I think the only place to get 7” tins now is via Delia’s website. I still use that high sided bread tin, bought in the 1980s. I have to line it now because it’s had a lot of ‘love’.😂 Come to that, what’s happened to the lemons over the years. Supermarkets ignore the beautiful Amalfi coast lemons and palm us off with squitty little Moroccan ones.
It is not a dining spoon as such, it is a Tablespoon, which are larger looking spoons than your ordinary dinning spoon or soup spoon. Also teaspoons are used. That is what my mum used before people decided that they needed to buy unnecessary tablespoon/ teaspoon measuring tools.
No they are not standardised but they’re a good approximation which is all you need for small amounts. When the first recipe books were published in significant numbers in the 19th century no-one had standardised spoons. Larger mass and volume ingredients are weighed out on scales. We don’t do anything as astonishing as trying to cram butter into cups.

It astounds me that the Brits use actual dining spoons to measure. Are they standardized there?
We now have measured ones too but usually you would just use expect a teaspoon to be pretty much 5ml.
