    Hey Chris,
    This is Ryan from GemRate.
Great overview of our data - thanks for highlighting the new Universal Search and Pop Report features.
Sharing a couple quick clarifications for your audience. The all-time sets info shared is limited to sets that have been trending of late - so there’s a filter on that data set. We don’t actually have a simple view that showcases that information for all sets, so sharing the info below for those interested.
Top graded sets all time at PSA (in order):
    2019 Prizm Basketball
    1986 Fleer Basketball
    1961 Topps Baseball
    2019 Mosaic Basketball
    1959 Topps Baseball
    1956 Topps Baseball
    1968 Topps Baseball
    1960 Topps Baseball
    2018 Prizm Basketball
    1975 Topps Baseball
(Pokemon Base Set & Pokemon Japanese S&S VStar Universe would be 1 & 4 if TCG were included)
Lastly, that Ja’Marr Chase is a bit of anomaly that our system doesn’t automatically detect. It’s a card that recently had some metadata changed at PSA - so it looks new to our system - but in this instance was just a card that was recategorized.
    Thanks again!
    -Ryan

Bar graph would be the correct term. For anyone wondering what TCG means, it stands for Trading Card Game, such as Magic: The Gathering and Pokemon cards (I had to look it up because I also didn't know what it meant. My 1st thought was Topps Chewing Gum!).

    • @CollectorsWorldFargo
      @CollectorsWorldFargo 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Back in the old days TCG stood for Topps Chewing Gum, took me awhile when I got back in 2018 that it had changed 😅

That 1.4 million for Jordon graded cards is insane. Kind of puts some perspective how many cards are out there and maybe people are overpaying for things that collectively aren’t that rare.

    • @joeltravels8983
      @joeltravels8983 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It makes sense to me. Lately I’ve been buying common graded Jordan’s for wayyyyyy less than what it would cost to grade them.
To your point I think people just think any Jordan will be worth something graded. Even though they are just 25 cent cards ungraded. People made bad decisions spending money to get these graded but on the buyers side I’m certainly not complaining now.

I've been collecting on and off for 40 plus years.... I'd say I have wildly underestimated the sheer numbers of collectors still subbing and buying ... the hobby I grew up in (late 70's ~ mid 90's) has changed from the soft spoken sleepy card shows at a Howard Johnson's or Holiday Inn to the internet Universe. It makes me giggle when I see some tubers questioning whether the hobby is dying.... just calculate the weekly card sales on ebay alone.... talk about liquidity. I live in Alexandria, Va., Chris~ I'm coming to the Chantilly show to say hi and to show you some stuff I've gathered over the years.....

I am a very low end collector. If I spend $20 on a card that's rare. I see so many slabs of basic cards that can be found in dollar bins everywhere. You can't make your money spending $20 to grade a $1-$3 card and then they sell for $10-$15 even as a PSA 10. I don't get it. I am debating if I can up my bid another dollar and some of these guys have no sense and money to burn. Thanks as usual for the great video!

Ok, here’s a weird one. (Numbers are just for PSA)
Total Hulk Hogan 1985 Topps WWF #1 cards graded - 2,567
Total Hulk Hogan 1985 Topps WWF #16 cards graded - 2,400
Total Roman Reigns cards graded (across every release since his 2013 debut) - 2,775
    Alexa Bliss - 2,589
    John Cena - 2,497
    Sasha Banks - 1,332
    Becky Lynch - 1,309
    Triple H - 1,236
    Charlotte Flair - 1,133
    Bron Breakker - 1,067
    Randy Orton - 1,059
    Cody Rhodes - 855 (that’s WWE & AEW combined)
    Seth Rollins - 656
    Drew McIntyre - 360

In terms of just the last month or so, I feel like there is a correlation between grading specials and the data. The TCG numbers certainly reflect that. But starting in February and March, PSA actually started to have what I would call meaningful specials. So it makes sense to see the spikes continue to increase. Great vid, Chris!

I think a lot of the bulk of the cards being graded are from either folks like me who, while I'd like a 10, I more want it encapsulated or those psa set collectors you talked about.
Of course there are those who think grading everything is the way to go. The last show I went to, I had multiple people ask me "You dont like grading?" when looking at my raw case. I told them, if you feel that is financially worthwhile, you can buy all these and the grading fee and I'll send them in for you; no one took me on it.

I was curious about the Ja'Marr Chase card that was at the top of the trending cards for the past week. Looking at the page for that specific card it appears that the last time the pop report was updated was 6/1/22. The next time the pop report was updated was 3/28/24. So it appears that over a year and a half worth of data was updated all at once and skewed the data for that specific card.
